    Hi All,
Nice to meet you, I'm Wika, 28 y.o!
It is probably uncommon for asian, especially in my country to do VSG. I have always been heavy since I was a kid and bullied because of it (mainly from elementary to high school). My self esteem was so low that I could not even love myself. Last year I have finally decided and told my parents to get the surgery done no matter what. I hate not being able to love myself and the social pressure around me was so high. I gotta admit that the reason I did my surgery is 80% because I don't want to be called fat anymore by my peers (and family), because it hurt me. My parents allowed the surgery and paid for it (phew! glad!) and it is probably the best decision ever in my life.
I feel healthier and lighter. I no longer lose my breath when I walk down the street, I feel energetic more than ever and it definitely boosts my confidence! I feel better, happier, and healthier. I start to open myself to other people, getting to know them (and go on several dates hahaha) unlike before. I love sports more than ever and in fact I spent most of my free time at the gym now. My original weight was 97,5kg and before the surgery it was 95,5kg, now I am between 60-61kg. I am 168cm, originally size 20 for tops and bottoms, now I am size 8 (and it is still considered big in Asia).
I still want to go down a bit more, till I am 55kg, but it's a little hard to hit that weight (due to snacking hahaha). Nonetheless, I am a happier me now and I can call it a success!! Regardless the reasons for VSG, it is important for you to be a better you and remember that VSG is only a tool, not the solution.

Fitting into hubby's jeans, hiking Tahquamenon Falls, overall health and wellness! Today we celebrated our 13th anniversary with a two mile hike to an international dark sky park (in the dark)! We could see the Milky Way belt, comets and satellites! The park lit the trail with tea lights so you could find your way! It was so cool!

I felt a gnawing feeling in my stomach that went away with food. That feeling went away with an acid reducer. Happened when I was pregnant too.
Many others report the same. Is that scientific proof? Nope. Anecdotal evidence at best. But how do you provide scientific data about someone's perception of something? That's tricky at best and I have a minor in statistics and a bachelors of science from a research university.
You don't have to buy it. But I suggest anyone who feels hunger every two hours post op, be your own study sample size of one. Try some over the counter omeprazole. See if it helps. Can't hurt, right? All you have to buy is some omeprazole.

Had surgery Tuesday 10/3 came home today 10/4. The gas pain is real guys so is the soreness and nausea, managing pain with narco hope to be off that by Friday. Everything tastes sweet, even Water, can't imagine having to start Protein Shakes tomorrow... one day at a time. Praying for everyone to have safe and effective surgery and full quick recovery.
Also eyes are super blurry 🙃

Good luck to all of you. The beginning was the worst part. I would say it took a good month before I started to feel myself again physically and about 3 months before I really started to feel myself again mentally.
Tips: Take small sips, adjust the temperature of liquids if you are having pain with fluids. I found that I could tolerate colder beverages better but some people tolerate warmed or room temp beverages. Take your time and take slow sips. And most importantly move! The gas can take a while to get rid of and moving really helps.

I have iced coffee and coffee. I use stevia an half and half.

I mean you know what the problem is. Decide if iced coffee is worth being obese for. I don't think it is.

You want sugar or you just want a "treat", it is better to figure out WHY you want this, that is the only way you are going to get past it.

I am one year out (Surgiversary was Oct 3), and I saw a cool idea I was inspired by, so I saved all my jeans and took an image of them all. Biggest was size 20, smallest (current) size 4. Needless to say I should have taken stock in Old Navy!

I was sleeved 10/2 and the gas pains just began easing up today. Having trouble getting my fluids and Protein in (and all those yummy protein waters are now disgusting). Short term pain for long term gain though. Glad to hear your surgery went well.

Is it crucial for the Protein in the liquid phase? Or when I go to full liquid...

I had my surgery on 10/3 as well. I was discharged yesterday, and today I’m allowed to move from Clear Liquids to the next stage. My only real pain has been the gas, but this morning I woke up with tightness in my chest. I made myself cough a lot, and it seems to have subsided.

I think today I’ll need to try some of that Vitamin Water zero and diet Snapple.

I also noticed that everything tastes super sweet. I’m used to having a Splenda with my tea, and I had to dump it and go without. I also couldn’t get the pro stat Protein down because the vanilla flavor was just too sweet.

It feels good to know I’m kinda on a normal track. Good luck to us all!

The beginning is the roughest. I don't miss it at all. I was miserable after surgery. It was really tough for me. It took me like 3 weeks before I was finally feeling normal again. One month til I was like back to myself completely i'd say. My pain was mostly from my incisions. I couldn't stand up straight and I had to hold my abdomen for a solid 3 weeks to feel support and able to do things. I drank 1-2 Protein Shakes a day, the rest was broth in a coffee mug but I mainly drank Vitamin Water zero and diet snapple to keep me going and sugar free popsicles were my treat. I have gotten so used to vitamin water zero and diet snapple that the regular ones taste sooo sweet now and I don't like them as much.
You get stronger and stronger each day! Good luck! Walk the gas pain off. I didn't really experience that kind of pain...just literal physical pain from surgery.
There's going to be days where you cry in regret but once recovery passes, and you start losing weight, you will be so happy!
