  1. I still have a total of 100 pounds to go. I am excited to continue my journey.
  2. I have a couple of things. That I would have an insane amount of gas anytime I ate or drank in the first couple of months. And that no amount of eating slowly can prevent that. Not an issue now at 10 weeks but was awful the first month. No regrets though. That eating would get disgusting. As in, I would not get the same feeling from food as I used to get and I would have food aversions to things to used to enjoy. Like guac, peanut butter, fried chicken. That my taste bud would change. Also that the sensation of food being stuck in your throat and throwing up is so uncomfortable and weird. When I started solids, it was interesting with chicken. And throwing up is just not the same. Thankfully it's better no gross sour bile taste anymore. Anyways.....lmao....my surgeon did tell me that. The last one is water. I knew already from nut class that I would need to sip slow with my water all day. But I don't think I knew the extent to which I would be unable physically to drink water. Especially since I was breastfeeding at the time of surgery and drinking 4L water a day! It was a huge shock to my system. I couldn't even drink up to 20 ounces that first week. And now I am at 48-64ounces. My norm is 3L a day pre sleeve. Anyways. I am just a newbie at 2.5 months. So still learning an discovering as I go. We shall see how things go. So grateful for this tool. The first 65 pounds has been awesome to get off, I am now only 15 pounds away from the weight I was before ever getting pregnant. That's one of my milestones.

    Why can't I see my progress :(?

I feel the same way. I have lost 65 pounds since pre-op it's almost 2.5 months. I still feel very huge. I am not slim yet by any means. I started out at 330. Sooo like super huge after having my three kids who are 2.5 years and 6 months. My pre surgery clothes are baggy, I've gone down two bra sizes. And I am wearing size 18 from 24. But when I look in my monthly pics, I look the same. In my mind. I know I am smaller but I feel 330 all again. I still have about 100 pounds to get to my goal. Maybe 98 pounds something like that. But I agree with you. I still feel fat. And not everyone has noticed I am losing. I used to lose weight in the past and at 40 pounds lost, people noticed. But I had never been 300 pounds sooo it's a different ball game for me. I suspect that people will notice when I hit 100 pound lost. So 35 pounds to go. But hang in there, you are losing weight, eventually our brains will catch up to our bodies. Great job on your losses so far.

    Food is intimidating

I think for me I get hungry, but eating food is so cumbersome now, especially solids that it turns me off from wanting to eat. I'd rather not eat. But I eat for sustenance. My relationship with food has shifted. I used to love the taste of foods and enjoy eating so much that I would be sooo stuffed. But now, I lose interest after one or two bites. The first bite of food is amazing, but by the third or fourth bite, I am grossed out. I am not complaining though. Just surprised. That most foods that I used to love taste blah to me or I am turned off by. Fried chicken, peanut butter, avocado, bacon, these are all foods I loved. Can't be bothered by them now.

Feeling no restriction at all :(

I agree with the above. I always felt hungry until I was placed on protonix and Zantac. Now I am hungry if I skip a meal or its meal times. Also wanted to add that I do feel restriction with soft foods, yogurt and tuna. But the restriction is worse with chicken and fish and meats as stated above.
  8. I agree with waiting a month and trying again. Chicken hurt fir me at 7 weeks out but now at almost ten weeks I can tolerate it if it is moist enough. Still hurts if it is grilled dry. I eat a lot more tofu, baked turkey and stewed meats now. And I still drink shakes. Egg white are also a great source of my daily protein. Hang in there. Time makes it all better. I finally realized I can drink up to 50 oz of water a day now. For the longest was stuck on 32oz. My point is that things get better everyday and with time. I am in no hurry, I am glad I can't eat much yet. Makes the weight loss effortless.

    Food aversion?

Hello. I don't have an all out aversion to all foods, but I have noticed that food doesn't give me pleasure anymore like it used to. I used to love to eat because of the taste and I didn't know when to stop. Now only the first two bites of food taste amazing. The third and other bites disgust me. So I do have aversion as well. There are some foods I just can't stand that I used to love. Avocado, peanut butter. I hate now. I am two months out almost. Loss of total 55 pound. I find I can stomach the shakes so I have that in the morning always. I do not eat starch or much carbs. I tried to find recipes that I like with protein and good fats. I still don't eat more than two to four bites. But I just eat more often. I eat 5 times a day maybe 4 if I am really busy. And I add unflavored protein to some foods to get my protein in. I have also started individual therapy, to help me with my issues with food. Now that food doesn't make me feel the same way, I too am very irritable. And it's hard because I am finding new ways to cope with my problems and stress. Therapy is helping somewhat. That and journaling and singing. I will advise that you find an outlet to help you channel the struggles you are going through. And seeing your NUT to determine what you can do and what foods you can better tolerate. Also eating more often but very very small portions. Hang in there, I know it's hard, but it will get better. It's a new territory for us all. But we have to adjust to this new life. Food used to be my means of coping with stress, sadness and many things. It's all about retraining. While this might not be your experience, I would still advise to even try therapy as well if all else fails. Good luck.

    Pain has returned

Actually I am sorry I am just replying. I too started to have some reflux that was worse. I am now on nexium and Zantac. Doc out me on protonix but I am not taking it because the nexium I started otc is working plus protonix doesn't work for me tried it when I had Gerd almost 7-8 years ago. And I don't feel like suffering further with something that doesn't even work. Anyways I am feeling better but I am scheduled for an upper gi with KUB procedure. Doc wants to make sure there is no narrowing area in my sleeve. I hope you feel better. I know how miserable pain from reflux or from sleeve can be. Take care.

    Mommys/ Breastfeeders post-op?

There's nothing wrong with breastfeeding post op, after all how do women who are starving and malnourished in third world countries able to still breastfeed their babies? And their babies don't look malnourished? My doctor said it was fine for me. I have a five month old. The Problem I had though was that I couldn't get much water in and my supply too diminished. So I let it go. I was soo tired and I think it was from pumping and the surgery taking a toll. I am sure If I kept pumping by now that I am getting more fluids, my supply would have returned. Anyways, my baby is on my freezer stash now and I am no longer breastfeeding. It's very possible but challenging. I just wasn't able to keep up. But I know it can be done. Also I found that I had more foremilk for some reason than hind milk when I pumped the first week. My milk used to be fatty and creamy but it changed after surgery. Weird.

    Help!

I dont have cravings but I still get hungry. My nutritionist stat it's possibly head hunger or sometimes acid reflux can make your stomach feel like the feeling of hunger but it's just your body getting used to the new amount of food and all the changes. I know that I still get hungry but most times I am not hungry at all. Especially with soft foods , two bites and I am full.

    Pain has returned

Are you taking something for reflux? I had the hiatal repair surgery as well as sleeve but I am way behind you at just shy of 3 weeks post op. I don't have the pain anymore but I take Zantac twice a day and did also prior to surgery. Are you on a ppi or anti acid?

    Eating solids

My doctor cleared me for stage three soft foods after two week post op. It's working great. Just gotta chew chew chew to purée consistency. I can't imagine eating full liquids for another week. I'd probably just starve myself.
  17. I am only almost 3 weeks post op sleeve. All I seem to enjoy are sugar free Popsicles. I pretty much don't like anything else. I find that I have two bites and then lose interest in eating. I am sure this will change as I get further along in my post op journey. But for now food sucks and eating is a chore. But I am sooo happy I am losing weight. That's all that matters. It's such a blessing as eating was very enjoyable for me before and I would keep eating even when full because I loved the taste of some foods. Now, it's soo different. Also helps that I only eat protein and veggies but I am in soft foods phase.

Is Gastric Sleeve so much worse than csection?

Thanks so much. This is very comforting. I have surgery very soon so this is comforting. Thanks again.
  19. I have had two csection and most recent one in April. I am scheduled to have sleeve on September 8. My csection recovery was brutal, due to leaving the hospital the next day after surgery and recovering at home. I had gas pains, difficulty walking, weakness and the pain from my scar, nerves constipation. Is getting sleeved that much worse? Been reading these side effects and post op posts and I am a bit petrified.
  20. Hi please my name is Shaye. I am having surgery Sept 8th. Starting pre op diet tomorrow. Please can I join too?
