    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

Hi everyone! I had my surgery on 8/23, and I just came back to work today. Honestly, I could have come back a while ago, but decided to take my time and enjoy some extra time at home with my kiddos. The pain was MUCH less than I anticipated. Recovery room was hell - I was so nauseated and my back was hurting so bad. A few hours later, I really felt pretty good. The only problem I had was getting out of and back into the bed. That was a bit of a struggle. Walking made me feel like a million bucks. The first night home was a little rough - I couldn't get comfortable and slept sitting up in a recliner. That was the only night I took a pain pill, and that was just to help me get to sleep. I'm on soft foods now, and I haven't really found anything that my tummy has rejected other than the time I tried to follow my Bariatric Fusion vitamin with a swig of water. Big mistake - it came right back up. I feel really good, and I'm down almost 30 pounds from my last weight before my pre-op liquid diet. I'm definitely stalling right now -been hovering around the same number for about 9 days. But I knew it would happen right about this time so I'm dealing. Anyone else hit the "3 weeks out stall", and when did it finally let go again?

    None of Your Business!

This is why I'm glad I have a male boss. I just said I'm having a procedure and he got white in the face and said "say no more - just get better and come back when you're ready" LOL He wanted no more information!

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

So I'll introduce myself - I'm just joining the group! I'm having my surgery on 8/23. I've been in the program since 8/17/17. I had to go through some extra psych visits to deal with some binge eating issues. I just started my liquid diet yesterday. It's much harder than I imagined. This weekend worries me because I know how much harder it'll be to control any eating when I'm home versus at work.

  6. I'm still early on in the process, but I've only told my parents, my husband, my best friend and my cousin (who is more like a sister). I'm wishing I hadn't told my friend because she sort of tried to talk me out of it. Even though she had Lapband back in 2010. I don't think I'll be telling anyone else honestly. I'm sure people will find out. It is what it is, I just don't want to have to explain my choice to people. I'm pretty good about being like "cool bye" when people give me their unwanted opinions. I used to do network marketing and heard crap all the time from judgy judy's and let it slide off my back. This is a bit more major though - and I know a lot of people would be judgmental. I actually had a hard time telling my husband to start - he's very judgmental and I knew his initial response was going to be negative. He's come around now because it's more of a health decision than anything. I think it's a personal decision whether you tell people. It truly depends on the people in your circle, how you handle criticism, and the level of trust you have in people.

    I'm confused..

My initial consult didn't count as a "weigh in visit" so my 6 months required by insurance won't start until next week at my first nutritionist visit. She told me that my surgery was likely 7 months out from that day we met (8/17).
