About Me

9.14.17..... my surgery was changed from the Sleeve to By~Pass.....but, I don't know how to change it in this form.   Anyone?

My journey started the day I was born!  I inherited the Type II Diabetic gene that "everyone" on my Mom's side had/has.  For me, it kicked in around 2005, when I started on the pills, that only lasts for a time before I was introduced to Insulin.  Now after, I'm guessing.... probably 4-5 yrs. I've become Insulin Resistant.  My Dr. suggested the Weight Loss Surgery because every month I was gaining weight, even though, I eat a pretty much strict Diabetic diet!

About Oct. 2016 hubby & I attended a Support Group Meeting at a nearby hospital, where this surgery is performed.   We listened to the Dr., saw the videos & later talked with the surgeon,   I had to know more!  After a lot of interest research & talking with a friend who actually helped her other friend through this, I made the appointment to see the Dr. & take another step forward.

It's been quite the experience going through a 2 day Stress Test, all the lab work, breathing tests, etc., etc. the day is nearly here for my Sleeve surgery..... Aug. 14, 2017.  I am so looking forward to this new part of my life journey & being able to live again.  Did I mention, I have high BP, suffer chronic low back pain, Planter Fasciitis, Morton's neuroma & the list goes on.  Having this opportunity to lose this weight that I can't on my own will also help with nearly every one of those issues above!

It's not going to be easy & I realize this is just part of the solution.  The real work is coming!  But, I am more than willing. Of all the 28 surgeries that I've had previously, this is THE one I look forward!

I'm so happy that I found this forum & hope someday, somehow...... I can help someone here!
