Hi everyone, my name is Kendra and I'm having my surgery at UF Health Shands on Aug.25 .

All the time of doing everything on the check list I haven't really been nervous. But for some reason after my pre op appointments on the 8/8 I got a little nervous. I'm starting my liquid diet tomorrow . I'm still a little nervous , but not to the point of not having my surgery. I've worked to hard to get to this point. I keep reminding myself why I'm having the surgery. I was wondering has this happen to anyone else?

Hi I've heard of 3 weeks either . I start my 2 weeks tomorrow . I've heard of 1 week before. But every surgeon is different . I was so happy when my nutritionist said that I can have grits, cream of wheat and oatmeal . Just no sugar or butter added.

Hi Mrfeelgood, I was reading your thread and I wanted know did you have any issues with hair loss ? The reason I'm asking my surgery Aug 25 and I too have dreads. And I was concerned about if I was going to lose some of my hair. By the way congratulations on your progress.

I personally think it's very deceitful. Think about it if your out there seeking help and this person is portraying they did it all on their own and they didn't. You've paid them money to give you tips and help you. But you don't know they have a tool that's helping them. Fraud!!!

I personally think to decide on having bariatric surgery should be a personal choice. I understand you want to make your husband happy. But this surgery is all about you and your health. I'm speaking from personal as experience when I decided on looking into to having this surgery I was doing it for me. My other half ask me was I doing it for them I said no. I need some changes in my life my weight up and down from from all the dieting I need a tool that will surely help me. Good luck to you

Sending positive energy vibes. I understand somewhat how you feel. My surgery is 8/25 and pre op is 8/8 . What makes me nervous I'm having my surgery 3 hours away from my family. Due to the distance they can't all be there when I have my surgery.

Hi I joined a group on Facebook and members was saying the same thing about going to bathroom regularly and they suggest using MiraLAX . They said to keep everything regular they use it everyday just putting it in some applesauce or a drink. I hope it gets better for you good luck

No they didn't tell me if it would cure me or not. In 2013 I had a freak incident happened with my first shunt and it preferred my colon. During that time they were doing different on me to see if I could go without my shunt and my brain seem like it drowning from all the fluid.

My heart goes out to you. I have a similar condition I was diagnosed with Pseudotumor cerebra it's were my brain constantly makes to much fluid . I was having headaches so bad . I was about to lose my vision . I had my first brain surgery in 2010 I had to have brain shunt place . I also have lupus and fibromyalgia . I didn't have to wait the six months . My surgery is set for Aug 25. Best wishes to you

I have Capital health plan Advantage it's my part D insurance that took over as primary and Medicare became my secondary insurance I live in Florida. I picked that insurance because they didn't just pay for prescriptions they also did health care . I got my surgery date Aug 25

Hi my name Kendra 39 years old. I'm new here . I go for my pre-op on Aug 8 and my surgery is Aug 25. 13 years ago I was diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia. I know having the surgery won't cure my illnesses, but I'm hoping the extra weight off joints gives me some relief. The hospital where I'm having my surgery is 3 hours away from where I live so worried about the ride home once I'm released.

Congratulations on your success!! Hearing your storying gives me hope my surgery is schedule for August 25 and I can't wait. I was diagnosed with lupus over 13 years ago. I know my surgery won't cure my illness , but I know the extra weight off of my joints will help tremendously.
