How frustrating! I didn't gain but I didn't lose much. Since you had excess Fluid, I'm guessing that all or most of the gained weight is "water" weight (fluid) and some is all of the air pumped into the abdomen to increase visibility of stomach during surgery. I'd be discouraged too. Trust me....this gain is likely to come off rapidly and will soon be behind you. Walking does help move the fluid and air (as you probably know). I'm sorry you feel so awful. There are better days ahead.

I too always had bad headaches with artificial sweeteners. Also learned years ago on the FDA website, that they're linked to causing symptoms of 90+ diseases..always hated putting that kind of thing in my body. Never liked the taste either. Tried stevia once, it's still up in my pantry. Call me an exception though, I don't do artificial. If I want sweet, I use honey or agave and regular Creamer for me coffees. Gasps! 😱 Lol

Medicare dosent require comorbs. I just had my bypass done on July 20th. And I also had Medicaid as a back up. Medicare pays for it all without any diet or anything. I was on the operating table 30 days after final Dr approval. Make sure you use a Medicare center for excellence and it's done. As long as it is a sleeve or bypass. And you meet just the bmi. If the Dr has it is medically necessary then it's paid. I had mine done at cleveland clinic. And my husband is having his done September 7th. Like I said no hoops to jump. Nothing. Medicare dosent have a requirement for diet or anything. You can also read that on medicare.gov

What sort of diet are you on, since your surgery isn't until December? Maybe we can help make suggestions that will kick start the losses...

My brother was a bad outcome. But I am post o.p 14 days and doing ok. It has a ton to do with the Dr you chose and the expertise they have as well as the prior medical issues. My brother and I did 2 different hospitals. 2 different out comes. Yes I was and still am terrified I messed up. But time will tell.

Sorry to hear about your sister but I'm sure she knew the risk going into the surgery. We all have fears and worries about the surgery but we also counter those fears with the fact that most of us here are past the threshold of exercising the weight off or dieting. I guess what I'm saying is she had the surgery for her health and unfortunately do to some "borderline neglegence", she had a bad turnout afterwards, I don't she's representitive of the majority of people that have had it. I wish you both the best but to say don't have the surgery because of her outcome isn't fair to those that are pre-op or considering.

I am already doing that at 2 weeks out. A friend of mine told me that during chemo, she lost taste as well. She said she played up the taste that she did like. Such as sour, she did a lot of things that were sour. If it was bitter she also did those. Just becarful, don't want ulcers from the acid. Hope that helps.

Do you find that one day a food is okay and then the next day it makes you very sick? That's been my problem. I've been getting in my Protein and liquids okay but almost all food tastes sour to me. I am three weeks out from surgery...

Hi LeeLee. My name is Paula. I am 63 y/o, and had my gastric bypass on April 5, 2017. I have some problems with vomiting. When I do I go back to the liquid diet for 24 to 48 hours. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, applesauce, Protein Drinks, and Water. It always helps.
