  1. I use to drink soda for days. I didn't drink it for 6 months at least after surgery and then I would let the carbonation dissipate in my mouth. Now, officially, a year out and I can drink soda no problem but maybe an oz or two of soda is very satisfying.

  2. I drink them every once in a while and I only drink maybe half a cup over a long period of time. I also let it flatten out in my mouth, which isn't great for teeth 🤷🏻‍♀️. I would not suggest drinking it if it was a trigger in the past because of the potential calories and zero nutritional benefits it has.

  3. I can only eat about 2 oz for most things besides dense/dry food which is more like 1 oz. I actually don't really like food anymore and primarily consume Protein Shakes. My nutritionist doesn't like how little I am able to eat and she actually encourages me to eat more which I find shocking. I am just happy to not be able to eat nearly the amount I was able to eat before.

  4. I have always naturally had thick hair but I have recently noticed my hair has become extremely thin. I used to break hair ties, now I use the little plastic black hair ties and can loop them three times and they don't break. I have a lot of hair falling out right now but I noticed that it is even and I also have hair coming back in because I have a lot of the little troll doll hairs 😂. I have noticed it is different for everyone, some people don't experience loss. Be sure to take a lot of Biotin. I take extra strength.

Surgery and repair went well. Recovery is going well too. I had nausea right after surgery but it got better with a patch and oxygen. I only had ice chips and some broth the first day and moved to full liquid on Day 2. Drinking any liquid is challenging right now. I get cramps when I drink something but my doctor said that was normal. Yogurt and pudding with Protein Powder are what I'm using to get Protein in. The gas pain is getting better each day. I'm hoping that I will feel almost 100% by Thursday when I go back to get my staples removed.

You were so lucky! I begged my surgeon for nausea patches.... I couldn't sleep more than an hour at a time because I pet getting sick. What staples do you need removed? I didn't know they used staples besides for the pouch.

  6. I had the sleeve and hernia repair. I remember I was very nauseous and vomited a lot, which is not good and my surgeon said it would push the hernia back through my diaphragm. My surgeon said it would be even more difficult to get in fluids because of the extra swelling. There was some discomfort but only when eating/drinking. I still had a little bit of gerd for a while after surgery but now it is gone. I had no actual pain from the surgery but everyone is different.

  7. I have gone through about 10 different Protein Drinks because most of them taste and smell like spoiled milk. Just recently I found the GNC lean shakes that are 170 calories and 25 g Protein for their pre-made shakes. I liked that it was in the right ratio of calories and protein and its is also packed with Vitamins. Quest protein powders are good too but they're really thick for me and they're harder to drink. I would get a lot of samples from different brands so you don't end up wasting money on something you don't end up liking.

  8. It depends, I am almost halfway to my goal weight and I can tell there won't be any loose skin. However, I am taking measures to help. I use the Jergens tightening lotion, drink way more Water than recommended, don't tan (Salon or outside) and I weight lift. There are a few factors that will determine excess skin, your starting weight, and your age. I also take collagen supplements.

lol i'm laughing because the same exact thing happened to me and I can relate....I didn't collapse but I threw it back up immediately. I was crying and throwing a tantrum like a kid because I didn't want to drink it lol. It was bad. I will never forget the smell and taste of that and how thick it was! Thinking about it makes me cringe. It was the worst. With all the advancements in the medical world, you figured they would be able to make the contrast better lmao.

I was shocked. When they had me take the Pilori test, the liquid they had me take tasted like sprite 😂 I was hoping for a similar situation.

OMG I cried. I smelled it and saw how freaking thick it was and like begged them and cried like a little kid "no I can't do it". I took one sip and got goosebumps and gagged and cried again saying no no no I can't do it. They told me they cant discharge me without this and told me to chug it like a shot. I can't even do shots at a bar! It tasted like soap and a bitter drink....I chugged it, they got what they needed and I threw it right back up in the cup....never had anything so gross in my life. One of the worst experiences of the whole thing.

Also, I had to pee constantly because of the IV fluids and felt annoying as hell for having to call a nurse in every 45 minutes to unhook me from everything lol.

The leak test was the WORST/most embarrassing experience of my entire life. My body did not like the liquid and this is TMI but I cried, puked, collapsed and other embarrassing stuff that I try to tune out. I will probably never forget that experience and I feel really bad for the x-ray techs. I went back to my room and cried and tried to forget that it had happened. I was still completely drugged by the anesthesia at this time as well but I distinctly remember this.

This is what my NUT said also. I checked her list so I have the berries she suggested to eat today. Do you all eat bread? I'm kind of scared of it since nothing goes down easily. But my list said I can half of an english muffin.

I tried bread and it made incredibly sick and I am okay with crackers and tortillas. I could feel the bread trying to come back up, I only ate one slice but it made me sick for hours. My list tells me I can have a lot that I know I wouldn't be able to eat. My NUT said I can eat half an english muffin and two eggs now and I know for a fact that isn't possible. Just go off of what you feel you can or can't do.

I drove myself home from the hospital on the day I was sleeved since my procedure was a same-day surgery. I was fine enough to start driving immediately.

That is odd they would allow drive home yourself. I was drugged for like 2 days from the anesthesia. I even had to get a ride home from my outpatient endoscopy, good thing nothing happened. I do also say this knowing the Houston traffic.

  13. I make a turkey chili and I eat it a lot. I also eat a lot of shrimp. I don't eat a lot of vegetables right now because I still can't get in all of my Protein because I despise Protein Shakes. I eat almost all protein also because I can't get in any more than maybe 2 oz per meal which doesn't help. I also eat high protein Jerky sticks and Protein Bars. There are so many things I am unable to eat now that I eat a lot of the same foods.
