FluffyChix reacted to Berry78 in My long-awaited Onederland is here! I was 205lbs on Halloween, and it took until Dec.
Technically he COULD eat a low carb diet. Problem is he would refuse. He has gotten to the point where he can only lay in bed, go to the toilet (half the time falling on the way there), go to his chair in the living room, and MAYBE make himself a cup of coffee with the Keurig. That's as good as it gets.
He's enjoying his cookies and sweets, and at this point, there is no POINT in trying to make him healthier.. he has moved beyond the point of no return, where he is stuck with a mind that wants to go fishing and hunting and to baseball games, but a body that can't take a step out of the front door without help. Last time he went fishing, he tried to do too much and fell into the pond (my 11 year old had to run and save him.. it was only knee deep, thank goodness). Last time he tried to make the car trip to go to a baseball game, he had a stroke on the way there. His dementia comes and goes.. sometimes he hasn't a clue what is going on (walking into walls because he doesn't understand how walls work), and others he's pretty lucid and can carry on a conversation.
Put it this way, if I ever get to that point, please push me off a cliff.
So, he eats his cookies, takes his insulin and 25 medications, and we change his diaper and pick him up off the floor a few times a week. Good times...
5 years ago (when we moved in together), he was still able to go DO things he enjoyed. At the time I had the conversation with his wife.. we could strictly control his diet and try to get him as healthy as possible.. or he could "die" with a doughnut in his mouth. She chose doughnut. They'd been married for 50 years, he had always chosen doughnuts.. so why change?
And here we are now.. all I can hope is the doughnuts push him off the deep end sooner, rather than later.
(I should be clear. It is not I that buys the doughnuts.. his wife does that just fine . I have just stopped trying to fight it).

FluffyChix reacted to MG1776 in How the hell do you update these silly Tickers!!!!
Click on the drop down menu by your name and then select "My tickers" and then select "edit ticker." Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "continue" and then on the next screen "continue" again. You will then see a page that has your starting weight, current weight, and goal weight in which you can then edit. Edit any numbers and then hit save. This should update for you. Let me know if you have any problems!

Girl, you are winning our little "competition". I have gained and lost what I had lost, and now back to the lowest point. I'm 200g from seeing a new number. I do kg, so for me to see 6x.x is huge, I don't remember the last time that was. Maybe 20-25 years ago. You are doing awesome.

Ugh and so sorry the scale is missile locked on 200 even. I'd forgotten you were pushing for 199 and of course that makes total sense!!! ((hugs))

Well, I was actually looking for ONE ninety nine.. but, you know.. 200 is awesome too.. lol!
No my hubby isn't particularly demonstrative when it comes to the scale. I don't mention my actual # too much because he's also trying to lose, but stalls out more often and I don't want to rub anything in...
So, we celebrate his losses, and mine just happen quietly. I celebrate with the credit card at the clothing store (and HE has to pay the bill) Lol!!

FluffyChix reacted to Berry78 in Hello everyone, I am 8 months out. I work for a doctor's office. My only real concern
It would be helpful if you would give an idea of what you are eating, and how much exercise. You have lost an extraordinary amount of weight to this point, so based on that, I'm inclined to believe your CNP is potentially on the right track. We have a tough job, limiting calories, while getting the nutrition we need to keep our health up.
What does a typical day look like for you?

**BIGGER HUG** Thank you! I will somehow deal with it, I just went back to work, so I feel odd dealing with it in the office. I think a lot of it is mental as well.

Are you on full liquids now? I know when I did full liquids in May, I got really swollen. I don't know if it was all the extra sodium or what? It did help to use low sodium broths, and to pick the right protein powders that limited the sodium...
Sorry you're struggling with a bloated feeling!!!

Awww! Shux! Ok, so clearly you just have to be patient and your tummy is griping at you cuz of the switch in foods. Just stay the course and follow your doc's plan to the letter!!!! ((hugs))

That's great news!!!! Even better is that having 1 or more family members who've experienced successful WLS outcomes is greatly predictive of success for the new person about to undergo WLS. Win-win!!!

Awww girlie!! I'm so sorry about this!! But I do agree with @BlackCatMatt--that the day will be here before you realize it--especially with the holidays here.
((hugs)) and sorry for the disappointment.

Sorry you have to wait so long. I would however ask if there is a waiting list in case someone has to drop out once you have all your requirements and are cleared for surgery. My original date was April 18th, but I asked to be on the waiting list and got moved up to March 20th. I went from having 6 weeks to go to only have 13 days. And now I'm lucky to be surgery twin with the lovely @Berry78
