    Getting Real Fed Up

Ugggh! I soooo get you and feel your pain!!!! I love it. I hate it! This past week, the scale moved (daily weigher here too) sweetly down through the 240s. I've been stuck for 3 days between 240.4 and 241.4lbs. I'm preparing for an EGD and since I know fentanyl will be involved, I chose to only have a liquid diet yesterday and chose to do bowel prep since Fluffy Chix + fentanyl = concrete in the bowels. I had 392 freakin calories yesterday and pooped my brains out and today I'm up to 241.4 again. ROFLMAO! ((hugs and try not to go to crazy town--I'm already there, population 1, and it's pretty boring)) Happy Ground Hog Day! *snort*
  3. Having my EGD tomorrow. A teensy bit askeered...

So it went well. I'm not too worried. The report said, "irregular z-line," possible Barrett's esophagus. The doc wasn't very worried. I take it that it's a very common finding. But interestingly, he said it's from GERD, but my esoph didn't show any signs of active GERD or inflammation other than the weird junction of the esoph to the tum. I've been doing this VLEverything diet since May and before that, my GERD was cra-cra. And now, I've quit taking my PPI for the last 2 weeks. We're waiting for the biopsies which will take a week.

FIVE WEEKS POST- OP - IT'S MOVING AGAIN

Congrats on busting your stall and doing so well at 5 weeks post op! Woot!!! Party! Don't you just love moving into a new decade? I always feel like, "Sayonara "old decade," smell ya later! Never!" And sometimes, it feels like forevs before you actually break out and through an existing decade. I thought the 260s were gonna be the death of me! It felt like they took forever. The 250s didn't feel as long, but took exactly the same number of days to break through! Sheesh! I love your NSV (belt moving thing). That feels better than any scale or measuring tape in the world. Right? And holy crap Batman! You walk 1 mile, 5 times a day? me=not worthy!!!! Gattlinburg vaca sounds fun. Do historical and music stuff. Do dancing and romance!! Have a blast!!! ((hugs))

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

@Apple1 I respect you very much and am eagerly watching to read of your success! I actually wasn't referring to either you or to Newme17 when I commented in my last post. Just want to clear the air!

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

I so agree Jess9395 and also think a WFPB diet is awesome (for some people). And I'm always interested to read of peoples' anecdotal experiences with it. I know I will learn by watching/reading those experiences. (Just wanted to set the record straight that I'm not a rabid low carbing carnivore. I'm a very thoughtful omnivore.) But it seems that unlike vegetarians/vegans (and this is a gross generality, so my apologies for over-generalizing), I just don't want to demonize any sect of food (such as animal protein) or way of eating (other than the SAD--lol I will demonize that one!). Neither do I believe that my diet is the "right" diet for everyone. I believe that the best diet to follow is the one that is right for each individual and is one that can be easily followed every day, consistently--for life, so that it does not promote anxiety or stress within us. I only get riled up when the way I choose to eat is labeled and indicted as unhealthy. (BTW, I eat "adequate" protein for my LBM/not high protein, 5-9 veggies+ and some fruit, and healthy fats to make up 900 cals pre-surgery--heading up to 1000cals per my surgeon. That diet includes pastured eggs, pastured/grass fed meats--we hunt wild game, limited dairy, organic produce/seeds/nuts, healthy fats.)

How long did it take you to lose 80lbs?

I'm still pre-op, so technically, I will be of zero help. But maybe this can help? I have about 90-something pounds left to lose to reach my first goal. If I allow myself to look that far down the line, it makes me freeze up and have terrors about not reaching my goal, about failing...AGAIN! LOL. Yeah, I'm a master of "failing at weight loss." Epicly! So I simply do not allow myself to go there. I make myself only think about the present decade of weight to be lost. Right now I'm still in the 240s (barely)...and I'm doing everything possible each day to ensure that at some point in time, I will break through and get out of the 240s. I've no idea how long that will take. Each day I only commit for that day and focus on eating the best meals I can possibly eat, sticking to my caloric and macro goals for today, doing my exercise as prescribed by my surgeon, and working on processing emotions/feelings/thoughts rather than using food to calm them. I also practice stress reducing techniques such as four-square breathing and visualization. I've been a pretty slow loser, historically, but today I've lost over 45lbs of a post-cancer regain since May3. That may sound slow to some, but it's HUGE to me. I think I will have to practice this mind set and these actions the rest of my life--even post surgery. Hope that helps? Hugs and congrats on beginning your journey to health!

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

I'm sorry, but respectfully, I don't buy into it. I'm not a good debater. The "facts" are very clearly outlined in this awesome book by Gary Taubes - Good Calories, Bad Calories . His business partner, Dr. Peter Attia also writes a very informative blog and talks about high cholesterol foods and saturated fat and health. And here's another from a very firm source, Authority Nutrition.

    Pre-op Liquid Diet

Hi there, so what protein are your drinking per your doctor? TIA!!

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

Often during rapid weight loss your cholesterol level and triglycerides will get worse before getting better. If you recheck in 3/6 months you will often see a difference as long as: carbs are sufficiently low, you do not have underlying thyroid disease, and you do not have the genetic form of hypertriglyceridimia. If tris are close or under 100, you can almost gaurantee your cholesterol is made up of the healthy kind.

Be blessed as well, and the wonder of a free society is that each of us can draw our own conclusions and act upon them! I'm thrilled for both you and Apple1. The only reason I jumped in is about the whole: making statements as facts. Cuz whether or not you realize it, if it's said often enough on the internet, myths become facts. MUAH!
  15. FluffyChix

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

Yes, but "adopting the western diet" contains MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY variables, too numerous to correct for in association studies. Eating more animal protein is only 1 very small variable and it wasn't even a quantitative figure...
  16. FluffyChix

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

But this is not a true statement. The weight of the evidence does NOT prove it. It's an erroneous conclusion based on inaccurate data. (And I think you are discussing the Okinawan population. And it's a great example of WHY association will NEVER prove causation. The Okinawans did not only include more animal proteins, but more processed foods and bad fats--just like us. So was it the processed food, trans fats, or other highly poly unsaturated fatty acids that caused the heart disease rate to go up? We will never know because there are TOO many confounding variables based on recall and self-reporting to ever be able to draw any kind of responsible conclusion as to why Okinawan rates of heart disease are now almost equal to western civs.) (@heycrystal2052 (don't know how to make this a link?), sorry for blowing up your post! )

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

I know, that there is little I can say to refute your belief. The harder I would try to do that, the harder you would argue to sustain and perpetuate your belief and the belief you have in the author + Colin Cambell. But serious reality is: Association can NEVER prove CAUSATION. Association will NEVER provide a smoking gun. Why? There are TOO many confounding variables. In order to prove causation, you must have double blind controlled studies, and in nutritional science those studies are expensive ergo few and far between. I did not read or see Jess being negative. She merely presented her position to your opinions. The doctor's book is based on his beliefs, not on cold hard science. Same with the China Study. Proof by association will never be a paradigm I can get behind and risk my health about adopting those eating habits. Wasn't Keys enough for everyone? I have 100lbs sitting on my aspirin bottle thanks to him and his Association theories.

    3 days post op

Wow, what a great report! Congrats!!!
  19. Has anyone tried the Celebrate 3-in-1 multi vitamin powder? I am considering doing the citrus for the first 3 months after surgery? Opinions?

    Surgery done, fighting on

Congrats on your surgery and so glad it went well!!! Now, Holy crap Batman! You're gettin' to eat Cream o'the wheat? Surgeons are so diff. I will be on 2 weeks liquid pre-op + 2 weeks liquid post op. And I would think my PCOS would have a field day if I had 11 bites of Cream of Wheat. (Not judging you, just commenting on how different and unique we all are!! You=luckyyyyyyyy)

    Food Post WLS Question?

Oh! Ok, that's very interesting! This is the first time anyone is mentioning that eating veg at the same time makes the protein feel "less dense." And that makes perfect sense since veggies have more water content. So, how long do you wait between meals on average? And about how many meals do you eat daily? BTW-how do you do the @OutsideMatchInside and make it a link? (me=tech challenged)
  22. FluffyChix

    Food Post WLS Question?

So with 1/4c of meals right now, what does that "look" like? (i.e. 1 1/2oz dense protein by weight and maybe 1/2oz of cooked veg or your berries?) Sorry for being so exact...it's my over-thinking, engineer-loving, nerdy, AR brain hard at work doing nothing on a Sunday afternoon. LOL. P.S. Congrats on getting to add raw veggies!

LOL, I threw up a little in my mouth on this one (ignorant Texas cracker = gags on mackerel), ROFLMA, but the rest of your menus sound D-lish!!!
