    Post op weight loss

Absolutely, to be honest I had the same fears about 2 weeks out because I was so intimidated by how quickly everyone was losing around me. My surgeon helped lessen my fears by letting me know that my height and starting weight makes my journey different in rate of weight loss. I also expressed my concerns on here and everyone was so supportive and reminded me to enjoy the journey. If you have any fears do not be afraid to ask your doctor or any of us on here. Maybe you will be able to pass the torch of advice on to someone you see in the future with the same doubts you have. A link to the body fat % tracker is below. This is what I use and it has been phenomenal helping my confidence. Also a measuring tape helps with seeing the inches go. I also recommend finding an outfit that was super tight on you to begin with and try it on every now and then to help you see you really are losing! Good luck and we are always here for you on BariPal!! https://omronhealthcare.com/products/fat-loss-monitor-hbf306c/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5ar3g6DF2wIVxbrACh08HwtrEAQYASABEgKoAPD_BwE You can buy these anywhere but this is the type I use.

The numbers on the scale do not account for the muscle that you are building. It is so repetitive to hear muscle weighs more than fat but it really does! It is so easy to find a body fat % device and use it every other day. I do 4 days cardio and 2 days strength following the plan that my coworkers who are Physical Therapist set up for me. I have a pair of scrubs that were very tight on me starting out. I'll try them on once a week and see them hanging off of me and this puts it into perspective why the inches are going down, the body fat is going down, however the numbers might not be going down as fast. Like you said I'd be crazy at this point just seeing the numbers go down so slowly while everyone else at 6 weeks out have lost so much already. Btw I was 210 day of surgery so have only lost 20 in 6 weeks. 3 lbs a week is nothing compared to what others are losing but it's perfect for me.

Absolutely!!!!!! Not many pay attention to body fat % and to be honest this is something we should be very concerned about. Losing so fast can cause a lot of muscle loss. Personally, I rather weigh more with more muscle than less and high body fat %. You will look slimmer with more muscle, be healthier, and have a higher metabolic rate. It is great that you mentioned this!!

1.5-2lbs a DAY is a lot of weight to lose. I am averaging 3 lbs a week at 6 weeks out. Maybe due to our stats (height, bmi, starting weight, goal weight) being different. Just keep in mind everyone loses differently. If you were to keep going at your rate you would meet your goal in 11 weeks which even though this surgery works miracles, 11 weeks is not realistic for you to meet 200 lbs in an even remotely healthy way. We're talking losing hair, deficiencies, muscle loss, etc. In the end we will all get there. Trust the process. Your body has just gone through a shock. It lost weight like crazy (mine happened in the 14 day pre op sugar free clear liquid diet) and now it is catching up and plateauing. You might not lose weight that fast throughout the upcoming weeks because your body is going to try to lose as safe as it can. I'd be focused more on inches, water, and protein. We all want to get there fast but sometimes neglect the health of it. Personally, 3 lbs a week for me gives my body time to adjust to itself and I'm happy with that. The closer to goal the slower you lose so just remember to enjoy your days, again you will eventually get there and we will support you along the way!!!! Good luck!!

    Non Scale Victories

5 weeks out and my scrubs are hanging off of me, my coworkers even brought up great places to take them in. Walking past pizza, donuts, etc and not craving them at all. Instead choosing healthy protein instead bc I'm craving it. People saying my face is slimmer. Went down a pant size. Almost able to cross my legs comfortably. This is only in 5 weeks, I can't wait to see what else is in store for me!!!!

    Water and protein

I really love your advice @domi about drinking water 1st thing in the morning and this can give me something to aim for before I get to work. I'm 5 weeks out and still having issues with water and protein intake.

    The Numbers Are Adding Up

SleeveinIL Exactly, it is so easy to be discouraged thinking I should lose more than I am. I read some forums with people that started off around my height and weight and they are losing an average of 10lbs a month. I am so happy for everyone and their weight loss. It is truly incredible to see how everyone is succeeding. I heard a really inspirational saying that about how we are all on a journey and there is no set time frame. We will all end up there eventually.

    Snacks YES OR NO

I stick to a meal plan. I am so focused on getting my fluids in and you cannot eat 30 mins after drinking something and an hour after. This sounded ridiculous to me until I did it and vomited or had pain. Snacks come last for me in regards to fluid intake. I set a timer and eat every 4 hours keeping my meals under 4oz and trying to find the most protein rich possibility I can. I do throw in a premier protein shake (30g in 11 oz) which doubles as protein and fluid. Maybe this would be a great filling snack for you.
  12. Use his doubt in you to bring you success. Nothing feels as good as proving him wrong! You are strong and if he doesn't support you then seek therapy or possibly consider if that is a future where you want your significant other to belittle you.

    To tell coworkers or not?

At first I hid it from everyone for 10 months. Once I had the surgery I didn't give one care. It's my body and now I've inspired 2 coworkers to start looking into it for themselves. Be prepared for people to try to sabotage you. They don't understand how it feels to not have the cravings anymore. My first few weeks one particular coworker brought in donuts and pizza and was trying to get me to eat it seeing if I would cave. I whipped out my greek yogurt, smiled, and politely stated I appreciated the offer but do not crave that stuff anymore and am eating to live not living to eat. I explained that I can get full off of either but only one will provide the proper nutrition my body needs so why bother with the unhealthy stuff. That completely knocked her off guard and ever since she hasn't tried it since. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself, be prepared for sabotages, understand everyone has their own "opinion" on it, you will hear a lot about failed attempts (scientifically this is a small number), and just do you! At the end of the day it is your body, and they can either jump on the train of support or get off!!! Good luck and best wishes your way!!!!!!!! Note: Again I didn't tell anyone until after the surgery. I didn't need the doubts, afterwards what is done is done!

1 week to surgery and I'm freaking out

You have completely got this!!! I worried and worried and researched everything under the sun for 10 months. By the time I got to surgery I didn't care I just wanted to go home after and have them stop poking me and waking me up. I feel like I am grateful for all the advice and shared experiences however be prepared for it to be different when you do it on your own. You will most likely have doubts and beat yourself up on small things. Trust in the process, you will do great!!!!!!!!

    Hiccups

OMG yessss! It's kind of between a burp and hiccup which is completely embarrassing. It can get annoying as it makes me feel like I have something stuck in my chest!
