  1. I agree w/ most, you can't gauge your weight loss on the loss of others. I started at 393 and my surgery date 11/13/2015, at this point, I've lost over 200 pounds. I know someone who had the surgery around the same time and was a bit heavier than I, and they haven't come close to my weight loss. We all are different.
  2. Even juice, you want to stay away from. But I agree, that is dang weird of someone to do. I haven't been to McDonald's in almost two years and thank GOD, I'm not tempted by foods that aren't appealing to my health. My goodness, I'm thankful you fought the temptation, some people aren't as strong or disciplined as you.
  3. I never had a food addiction, so I can't blame that. To be honest, it was a lack of personal responsibility and care for who I was as person. I kept putting off my will to do better and days became months, months became years...and 400 pds later, I had that "Ah ha" moment.
  4. I agree, I didn't see myself that way. I think, if I did, I never would have woken up from the "dream" and worked to get myself healthy again.
  5. I was sleeved and took a month off and am very happy I did. When I tried to get out and move around, I was so fatigued and lacked so much energy. My Dr. said I could take up to a month and I did. lol
  6. What I enjoy the most, is having my curves back. My goodness, I missed them so much. lol Before, I never wanted to really wear shirts that contoured my body, but now, I can't stand to be in a shirt that's too big or pants that aren't skinnies. I'm getting my breast lift and reduction in three weeks, I'm sure that'll really make me smile!
  7. I'm so happy to read you're on the road to complete, recovery. You look great, let that be said! I wish I could lend more than just encouragement, but when it comes to what you've gone through, I wouldn't know what to suggest. Motivation, I simply never forget the journey traveled. When I'm tempted, I remember where I once was and where I refuse to be again. I didn't have a food addiction, actually, in my moments of stress, I don't eat at all. You're doing such a wonderful job, as your Dr. said, with everything you've gone through it will take time for the WL to catch up. Don't worry, things will be just fine.
  8. Actually, my boyfriend brought over some brisket and it was so dang good. I'm not used to beef anymore, but my pouch really enjoyed it. I'm having some for lunch and I'll have enough for meals during the weekend. Surprisingly, that thought doesn't turn me off.
  9. Is that something a therapist would assist with, that sounds like medical issues.
  10. I love to make a spinach salad w/ loads of red onions and and a few jumbo shrimp. YUM!!!
  11. At one point, I was looking for a therapist just to help me work through the transitions I was/am going through. When I looked for a Dr., I asked if they work with bariatric patients, if not, I wasn't interested. Sadly, some "therapists", judge more than they help and it sounds like you found one of those. I'm sorry you were exposed to such asshats!
  12. You're so right, if the observation is made w/ those who are overweight, why not be that way with all types of people? I feel, living in, what used to be the body of a 400 pd woman, my bond would be closer to those I've shared the struggle with. We must do better and most of us here, found that will to be want to be better. With that, I understand there is a process to getting to theat point, for me, it took a series of events and I'm happy I was awakened after the fact.
  13. If I stall, I'll go back to shakes and liquids.
  14. I completely understand how you feel. At my highest, I was a bit shy of weighing 400 pounds. Thankfully, I was still proportioned well, but I would still get those "looks". My phobia came when I would eat in public, I felt like people were thinking to themselves "Why in the heck is she eating pizza, she's too fat for that", sadly, I find myself doing the same. Well, not the same, but when I see people eating that way when out in public, my heart breaks for them. I was once that girl and it hurts to see people not understand how they're doing such an injustice to themselves mentally and emotionally, and for what they're doing to their bodies.
  15. I'm still the same, this week I bought an eggplant dish and forgot about it. I remembered how delicious it was and packed it for lunch today. LOL, I guess certain foods will make me run back to them, most, I'll pass.
  16. Since my surgery, I haven't touched cereal. One, I would only be able to eat several spoonfuls, and the rest would be a wrap. Two, it has way toooooo many carbs and other junk. Three, I enjoy losing weight and would prefer that cereal not be the reason, I gain.
  17. I had the GS and the healing was pretty quick, but the body catching up on energy is what zapped me for a bit. I was off of work for a month, but maybe could have gone back after two weeks. I just didn't want to have any issues w/ the lack energy or discomfort. I was in the hospital overnight and that was only because, they waited too long to release me so it carried over into the next day.
  18. I don't know where the thread is, but someone just asked that same question and there were several comments on that thread. From what I read, that was a common problem for those w/ DS. "DS Body Fluid Odor" -Strivingforbetter (That's the thread)
  19. I got the seafood pho w, no noodles. It was so delicious, but I was only able to eat a small amount, obviously. So, delicious!
  20. I made an appointment to see a general surgeon next week. I'm so bummed, but I'm happy to move forward w/ making sure that level of pain doesn't cripple me again. Man, that crap hurts!
  21. Wow, I'd think the rice noodles would be better than pasta, well I tell ya, I'm still learning new things. To be honest, I don't miss the noodles, I just make sure I get extra shrimp, sprouts, and veggies. So dang, good!
  22. Alright, I had some Pho w/ the shrimp and veggies only, but can we eat the noodles? The noodles, didn't look like pasta noodles, so I was just curious.
  23. Do it before the year is over, just in case your policy changes for 2018.
  24. Sadly, my Bariatric surgeon retired and now, I'm on the hunt for a new one. He like your Dr., was a general surgeon as well. He referred all of his patients to a new Dr., but I'd rather find one who is local. If not, I'll go to the referred Dr. Dratz, I will check to see if is something medicine can control (I read that's an option), if not, I will go with having it removed. Fluffy, I was a sick gal this weekend.
