Well, it happened, I can no longer enjoy the Gallbladder still being in me after the surgery (Almost two years out). This weekend, I had a really bad pain, a pain that felt like I had indigestion, but it wasn't that. Seriously, I couldn't even fully stand up or even sit w/out feeling pain. I went to the ER and thankfully, there were no stones when they did the CT, but my Gallbladder was inflamed and they said I may have had an ulcer.

Has anyone experienced this and if so, is this a one time thing or will this continue to randomly creep up?

It will get worse and worse and closer and closer until you can't stand it any more. You can also die from it. You need to just bite the bullet and get it taken out. 1 incision and it's outpatient surgery. My nutritionist was back to work in 2 days. You will be so glad that you did it.

I've come so far w/out having issues, I really dislike having them now

Get it out ASAP, it is not going to get better only worse.

It's from losing the weight so fast. Years ago I was going through a divorce and could'nt afford to eat so all I ate was tomato soup and lost 100 pounds in like 4 months. That's when mine started acting up but they could not figure out for awhile what it was. It is so painful - I always felt like if I ate something I would feel better but it just made it worse. Stay away from greasy foods - that's what seemed to bother me the most but I also had a stone nearly the size of a golf ball and it had torn up my gall bladder so badly they had no choice but to remove it which I'm glad that they did so it would'nt happen again. If you still have your appendix have them take that out while they are in there - one less thing to worry about. Don't look at this as a complication - it's just part of life.

This really bums me out, but I know you're right. That pain was unbearable and it made me throw up and it killed my lower back, I can't imagine feeling that much pain again. The Morphine knocked it out, but I still feel a bit of ache in that spot.

It sucks, but I know you both are right. Should I consult my Bariatric Dr. (he has since retired) or should I go to a specialist?

You don't need a bari Dr. Call your insurance and get a referral.

((Hugs!!!)) Dang, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling bad! I wondered if something was wrong, since you have been conspicuous in your absence! Wish I could help! (FYI for my insurance, I have to be referred by my PCP. Maybe you should put a call into yours for a referral to a surgeon? Also, most bariatric physicians are general surgeons. Like mine can not only do my surgery, but she could take out my GB, perform a double mastectomy if I hadn't already had one, and do all sorts of general abdominal surgeries. Since she would know my "topography" post WLS, I would call her for the job fo' shizzle!)

Sadly, my Bariatric surgeon retired and now, I'm on the hunt for a new one. He like your Dr., was a general surgeon as well. He referred all of his patients to a new Dr., but I'd rather find one who is local. If not, I'll go to the referred Dr. Dratz, I will check to see if is something medicine can control (I read that's an option), if not, I will go with having it removed. Fluffy, I was a sick gal this weekend.

Awwwwww! Pobre 'cita! I hope you get to feeling better quickly and that you can control it without surgery. And yeah, I'd want a doc in town with me, rather than having to commute to get to him/her!!! ((hugs sweetie))

I thought I'd avoided gallbladder issues. I was between 6 and 7 years out when an attack hit me and my husband took me to the ER. I had no idea what was wrong. Lodged stone; gallbladder full of stones.

Get that bad boy out before it tortures you. I'm sorry for you. I was an incredibly slow loser and still lost mine. My surgeon said just drastic weight loss will do it.

The surgery was remarkably similar to my sleeve (if you're sleeved) with a quicker recovery because I could eat and sleep more comfortably.

I also had my gallbladder removed. But not after my WLS. I had my first attack when my son was 6months old. I went to a quack who told me it was an ulcer. NOT!! BTW my son is 43 years old now. When I was PG with my daughter (who is 6 years younger) I had some problems. But when they couldn't find my daughter's heartbeat they sent me to get an ultra-sound done and lo and behold they found that my gallbladder was loaded with stones and slush plus one stuck in the opening. So I had fought the pain off and on for 6 and 1/2 years. I still didn't think I needed it removed. Until I had one HELL of a attack. Finally, my hubby made me go in. We lived in Mill City, Nevada. And I wouldn't let their run down small hospital do my surgery. Off to Las Vegas the next morning. Out with it and on with my life. Another thing, it runs in families. Most often it is women who have the problem. Almost every woman on my Mom's side had gallbladder trouble!! It will only get worse also. BTW My gallbladder took a HIGH OFFENSE to dairy products!! The last KICK MY ARSE deciding to get er out was because I ate a tuna sandwich. U just never know what will cause that awful pain!! Good Luck and I'm sending you a HUGE BEAR HUG!! Take care of you!!

I made an appointment to see a general surgeon next week. I'm so bummed, but I'm happy to move forward w/ making sure that level of pain doesn't cripple me again. Man, that crap hurts!
