    Pain after surgery

Good question Meg. When I say I walked a lot I don't mean like miles be caucuses you are right, I was weak from preop minimal intake diet and no intake just after post op. In the hospital, I walked around the unit several times a day. I would say it was probably about 80-100 meters each time. I know and understand it is so hard trying to even be motivated to get but keep trying. How are you doing on your protein shakes? I made myself drink per my program to get a bit of energy. It will get better everyday believe me.

    Time off

I was sleeved in July on a Friday and was back to my desk job on the Monday. I ended up taking 2 days off later in the week because I had a terrible cold. That ran into the weekend following so I had 4 days at home which I needed because I was weak from the low oral intake of full liquids only. In hindsight, I should have taken a week off minimum.

    Regret

It will get better. The first days are hectic making sure you get the rebuilders hydration and protein shakes. It can be very overwhelming. This is why we (those who have had WLS) het upset when people say we took the easy way out. It is not easy by any measure.

    Post surgery back pain?

I agree that it might be spasms. Also, if you had a significant weight loss between preop and now, that could be the cause. I had severe lower back pain one month or so post op. The bariatrician told me it is common after a sudden moderate to severe weight loss in a short space of time. If your X-ray showed nothing abnormal, maybe try alternative therapies such as heat packs, heat rub and gentle exercise like, walking and squats. Go as low as you can tolerate with squats and try to go lower each day. I hope the pain subsides.

    Have you experienced jealousy?

This is so spot on. I worked with a lady who was over 300lbs,I guess, and people used to comment on her weight and how she "let herself go." Some of these girls knew her from way back. She later had gastric bypass and lost a massive amount of weight. Guess what, the same people started saying she had lost too much weight and "looked old." I thought she looked gorgeous then. Well done Introversion on your weight loss. Your body, your weight, your health, your choice! Keep your great work up. Happy for you. I can easily bet that you are beautiful.

    Chilli

Eden30, I am like that too!! I put hot sauce on just about everything. I was sleeved July 28, 2017. I held off using chilli until I got to the normal food stage. I don't remember being told not to have it before then. I just chose to be extra careful. I am having it now almost daily with no problems. I have no reflux issues that some sleevers experience post op. I think that makes a big difference if you have gastric reflux.

    What is your Pre-OP Diet?

Mine was 4 optifast shakes a day and an unlimited amount of certain vegetables. Only managed 2 shakes most days and sometimes 3.

    Losing dedication for surgery.

Totally understandable. Many of us have felt this way. For many years I thought about surgery then I would go back to self talk of "I think I can lose this weight by myself." Well, I did lose a couple of pounds here and there then pack it al back and more. I spent so much money and time on so many different diets. Finally admitted that the sleeve was the best tool to help me lose weight. Finally got sleeved July 28, 2017. I feel this is THE best decision I have ever made for my health. I have lost a log of weight and happily still losing!!

    New driver's license?

Yes I know a former coworker who had trouble coming back into the country because she looked very different. She was pulled to secondary inspection but finally they cleared her.

Gastric sleeve and Hiatus hernia repair

I had a hiatal hernia repair which was found during the sleeve procedure. My recovery has been smooth with almost no pain except the immediate post op gas pain.

    Popcorn

Good question. Would love to know too because I could use a cup of popcorn.

H pylori is the last test to take

I din't have test preop. They diagnosed me with H-Pylori after testing the tissue removed during the sleeve surgery. Had to wait until the purée stage before starting treatment because I needed to have food in my tummy to take the many huge tablets required to treat it. Retested 4 weeks after completion of treatment. Now eradicated.

    Jello

In the program I am in, Jello was not on my list for phase 1 post op. It was there for 2 weeks after (2nd phase).

This is from a Facebook page for the O Clinic (bariatric clinic). I really needed this today: ** Support versus Comparison ** There are some amazing support networks online for Bariatric patients. But, when does 'support' evolve into 'comparisonitis'? Comparisonitis is unhelpful and reduces a person's confidence in their own weight loss attempts. It leads to comparisons being made of other people's weight loss numbers and the speed of their weight loss. It can become extremely un-motivating. So, of course, draw upon the fantastic support from all of the forums, but be mindful that everyone will have a different weight loss journey and aim to focus on and enjoy your own. Don't let 'comparisonitis' creep up on you Rachael Haynes (Psychologist).

    Fainting... 4 months post-op sleeve

Lorin, that sounds scary to say the least. I haven't experienced it but just wanted to ask if your doctor has checked your bloods lately especially hemoglobin levels? Low levels could potentially cause that. Hope they get to the bottom of it soon to prevent serious adverse effects.

It's very unfortunate that you now want to turn this into a negative post with your response. You asked for a clarification of the post and I provided it. Now you are being sarcastic because I didn't respond the way you wanted or expected me to. Hope you have a lovely day. I sincerely wish you the best in your weight loss journey.
  25. I follow my program to the letter. I just don't want to go back to the things that contributed to my obesity. I made a personal choice to follow the program because my own "program" obviously failed me before.
