Hi there. I bought Unjury unflavored protein and plan to put it in my applesauce, pudding, cream of wheat, etc. It is whey protein isolate and I believe 21 grams per serving. I also bought Unjury cream of chicken protein Soup. At this point I think I don't care what things taste like as long as I get my protein in.

Hi All. One week to go til surgery! I just need to pass my echo and stress test for my heart.
I had a lapband that was taken out 3 years ago. Now I am going in for the gastric bypass.
Did any of you have any problems with the switch from the lapband to the gastric bypass? I have been told by the surgeon there may be adhesions/scar tissue.

Day 3. Had a roughish morning. Had a sudden bang of nausea and awful gas. Just wanted to burp all the time. It was very painful but luckily a few meds sorted me and I slept awhile. Had my first shower. Was heaven!! Drunk cubitan now. Nice to have something a bit thicker than Water and more flavour. Looking forward to going home tomorrow

The pain is slowing getting better since surgery on the 1/10! The doctors gave me an abdominal binder, and it helps so much!

Hi everyone. So I had my surgery yesterday. Everything went well thank God. The roughest part was right after surgery. I woke with the tube in my mouth so couldn't breathe, it was like I lost my sight too; could only see colours. I was taken to ICU for the night (protocol). When I got here I was in alot of pain and just wanted to vomit the whole time, and I did. My poor parents were there and my dad had to leave. I saw them I was vomiting blood but it was just from the breathing tube that had been in. It felt like it went on for ages but wasn't that long. They sorted my pain meds and I passed out asleep. When I woke I was like a new woman! I was comfortable and no pain. Same today. I'm being kept well medicated lol but I feel great. I have no pain, just a feeling of pressure now and then. Only taking 50mls Water per hour which is more than enough for me. I'm shocked I feel so great. Thank God for that. All of you that are waiting for your ops don't worry, yes there will be a rough period but it doesn't last and then you'll find it hard to remember, like a dream. I'm so so soooooo happy.

Nancy Geoghegan got a reaction from tankheadmommy in Cardiologist
Hi All: I am days away from surgery, on my preop diet and I went to the cardiologist today for clearance. Had my ekg. Then the doc came in and said that since I have diabetes and a family history of heart disease I had to have an echo cardiogram and a nuclear stress test on the tread mill. I must say I was surprised and a bit let down because I thought that this was the last thing I had to do before the surgery. I right out asked him if there was anything wrong and was told no, just my family history and diabetes.
I do realize the he is probably just trying to take good care of me but.....
Have any of you had to do this before the RNY? Have any of you had heart problems and still had the RNY?
    Thanks for any input.

Hi All. I just signed my consent forma at the surgeon's office. I am having gastric bypass surgery and the surgeon said that if there were adhesions or scar tissue where I had my lap and removed 3 years ago he would do the gastric sleeve instead.
Yikes. Did anyone here have to sign a consent like that or did it actually happen to anyone here?

I did. Complications can happen. Isn't the end of the world but something to keep in mind. For me my supposed to be 3 day stay turned into almost a week (my spleen decided to start bleeding for fun on day #3 at the hospital). Despite having complications I don't regret doing the surgery.

As to the original poster - no regrets. I think what many of us are looking for when we ask this question is more of how badly am I going to miss certain things? Do I miss those binge eating days, or stuffing myself on Thanksgiving, or those stops by the gas station to load up on snaks for road trips? Sure, I miss it to an extent, but now I look at it like giving up smoking. There's still times where I miss it but I know I'm better off without it in my life. The good by far outweighs the bad. While the responses have mainly been positive there certainly are people on the forum that have regrets. Complications are something you have to come terms with and know that there is always a chance something could happen, whether it's getting acid reflux down the road or something more complicated. For the health problems I had prior to surgery I figured it could only make things better and it did.

I'm getting ready. It's in less than 2 weeks. Am cleaning out my freezers and fridge to keep only useful stuff.. Takes time. And getting ready with extra Protein Powder, collagen which has no taste and amazing amounts of Protein - and of bee pollen to add to later smoothies. The powdered collagen is amazing. I tried 2 tsp in a cup of espresso coffee and no taste difference. You can add it anywhere and it raises your protein effortlessly.

Ok then , we are in it together. My surgery is 3 weeks on the 23rd. I have one more week of real food - won't over do it because I meet with the surgeon on the 9th and I'm sure he will weigh me lol.
My preop diet is the liquid Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch and then a sensible dinner.
I was weighing in at 229 a few months ago but have been taking Vyvanse for binge eating disorder which is a stimulant (therapy as well) and also taking Saxenda which is a weight loss medication. Victoza is for diabetes and Saxenda is a double dose of Victoza marketed as a weight loss product. I am down to 206 now. I am doing the gastric bypass for a chance at health. I have been overweight since I was 5! I don't know what it is like to eat normally or even be thin.
I am 54 and have diabetes type II, kidney disease, fatty liver disease, gerd, asthma, neuropathy in my feet, glaucoma suspect, cataracts, depression, anxiety and more. I take so many medicines it is ridiculous and borders on embarassing lol.
I am praying that that this surgery and my good behavior will help me to be healthy for the first time in my life.
I will remember you all in my prayers. Let us know how your surgery went and how your are feeling.
