The truth hurts sometimes...and that's what open our eye to the lies and excuses we feed/stuff ourselves! the last I checked you stated on another thread that each person is entitled to their own opinion ( so why you commenting on mine?!). The doctor is not going to pretty it up for her either that's why she cancel her up coming appt. Let the original poster comment on my opinion because she asked openly for advise and I gave her mine as many others did. Thank you!

Again, I've said what I said and that's the end of that! Who don't like it bite it!!! If you choke that is your business. If most of us was half-way honest with ourselves you would be singing another tune. I did not lose all my weight and regained it back. The mindset, attitude and behavior must change for any long-term success there is no excuses. Stop the enabling poor behavior. The stomach is stretched out, so no matter how you diet is not going to be the same because, as soon as she switch back to solid food she may eat the same things again and regain because she still has to eat more to be satisfied...the store is not going to get any closer and she will still will be in grieving mode. Then what?!?! All of us knows how to tell our store to tug on peoples heart strings but the fact remain unchanged...excuses, excuses, excuses! Most of y'all are use to your own pity party anyway and never had a person be blunt with you. If I had change the tone or my words the passage would have slip pass like all the others. I don't need to be like everyone else and/or share the same opinion as others to be supportive. It's an opinion take it or leave no harm done. And I was very please with my weight. I did the surgery for medical reasons. I am very solid so I don't look like I weight 250 before surgery. I did it for my health and husband (he was concern about family health history). And fyi I do not wear panties...Thank you very much!

p.s. If and when I do ask for people advice or opinion on here I hope that they will be blunt and honest no beating around the bush!

What happen to family/ friends support, counselling? food is never the answer especially when you have struggled for years and now found relieve only to do it al over again. Pre-op diets may not work because you don't have the same momentum because there no surgery coming after. You may lose some but will always be in limbo because there is no accountability and if you cant do it for yourself then who would you do it for?!. Once you've open Pandora's Box its hard to go back! You need psychological help and not a diet. food is not to satisfy feelings and crisis but to nourish the body. As I write this note to you I am reading it for me too, so that I don't fall into this trap myself.

I'm sure you know the everyone is different! However, I never really had much pain as I did soreness. I use to get stiff ( still not as much now) if I lay or seat in the same position too long. When I was in the recovery at the hospital my pain was a 6 and it was down hill from then. When I was d/c my pain was like a 4 and by day 4 or 5 was I two and now 0. I am 10 days out and make over 10,000 steps twice this week and avg. about 6,000 the other days. I do everything lift, dance, walk, sometime forgetting I just had surgery. Give yourself time and do as much as you can. listen to your body but I believe the more you move the less you feel and the faster you heal!!! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Get the healthiest thing they have bake, broil, and/or steam. Remember no eating and drinking at the same time. However, Applebee's would not have been my choice JUST three months post-op, too risky. Too much process foods that are high in calories and sodium. Have a fabulous time!

Actually VSG has a history dating back to 1988 when it was used as a first stage to the duodenal switch. Many patients never had the second stage which is why it gained popularity and research began to support it as a stand alone procedure. It's been growing as a stand alone since 2000 so that's 17 years there, even if you don't count the "unfinished" DS from before--

Don't even get ME started on the false data that linked autism to vaccines or the fact that antidepressants don't cause suicidal ideation, they cause the depressed person to begin to lift out of the lack of energy and motivation to actually have the wherewithal to ACT on the ideas.

Yes medicine is a practice. But when best performed it's based on the BEST AVAILABLE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE. everything is always weighing the possible benefits against the possible risks. Find a medical professional you trust. Together weigh the options and decide on the best course for you!

I follow hospital stays for members of a large insurance company and have seen some nightmare complications of WL surgeries in various locations. Sometimes reading the questions that people ask in message boards is concerning for a naive and/or ethically irresponsible weight loss surgery clinic/program. There is a large body of basic information every patient should know, and it's not easy to run this kind of program. Some places have so much room for improvement.
Many insurance companies require heavy vetting of outcomes statistics for providers and provider groups leading to a potential required certification agreement to be in-network. I cannot stress enough how important it is that you research and stay in network if you have an insurance company smart enough to take such precautions on their and your behalf.
I'm saddened by this story. I wish that the ACLU or some other patient advocacy/legal organization could successfully put together the case for a federal mandate on standards, operations, and reporting in bariatric surgery practice.
Sending my version of prayer to your brother-in-law and the family.

I concur that Sammie's response may have been blunt. Nonetheless, it was truthful.
The original poster can definitely go on another diet and get back on track to lose the 50 pounds she's recently regained.
Still, unless she addresses the root cause of the weight gain (read: emotional overeating), she'll most likely turn to food for comfort and stress relief when the next situational crisis occurs, thereby regaining the pounds once again.
To succeed long-term after weight loss surgery in the lifelong maintenance phase, bariatric surgery recipients must learn and actively utilize coping skills to deal with life's ups and downs that don't involve overeating.
Again, I'll keep the original poster's family in my thoughts. I'll also silently root for her with the hope that she succeeds in losing the regain and maintaining the loss long term.

I was the same way and my nutritionist recommend triple 0 yogurt it has 15 gm of Protein and fairlife milk 13 gm protein. Mix them together in my Blender Bottle and then pour it in 9 of my 2oz cups and drink for the next 2 hours (I do this twice a day minimum and that yield 56 gm(s) of protein then I drink 4oz of milk to get to the 60 minimum). I struggled with the shakes and have about 6 brands in powder forms and the Vitamins are just horrible. maybe you try that and see if that helps. She gave me another brand of yogurt but I forgot the name so for now I just use the triple 0 ( she recommended that as well). They have many flavors so you can change up the taste so you don't get tired of it. Let me know.

I am so very sorry for your loss and recent family illnesses.
In essence, there's no magical secret to losing weight with a sleeve: Start doing the things that caused you to lose weight when you were first sleeved. Stop doing the things that have caused you to regain a massive amount of weight.
However, and I say this as sensitively as possible...weight loss should not be your primary focus right now. It's time to adopt coping skills that don't revolve around food as comfort. If you lose weight right now, will you regain when the next crisis arises due to turning to food?
90+ percent of success with weight loss post-sleeve is psychological. Your head must be fully in the game. Good luck to you, and I'll keep your family in my thoughts.

The irony of obese people who had to to resort to WLS judging other obese people who had to resort to WLS is staggering.
Obese is obese. Whether you're 250 pounds or 650 pounds, the struggles are basically the same.
    Be humble and remember that.

Oh, I guess I missed something. My "opinion" attacked no one, or maybe for the overly-sensitive it did. Heck, there were points of my life where I was very lazy, therefore, the weight piled on. Apart of the story: At one point, we are irresponsible and create some of the issues that we faced and what some still face. Smile, you are loved.

I don't think its a freak show per se. It shines a light on someones experience and unfortunately its oftentimes painful and unpleasant. You dont get to 250, 300, 400 or 500 lbs because you like tuna and cupcakes. Something horrible happened or is going on

It ignite the taste buds send you down a slippery slop! think health and healthy and why you wanted this weight loss surgery. Talk with your nutritionist.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way right now, but it will pass ( I had something similar happened to me and if you see me now you'll be amazed). Just focus on the reasons why you did the surgery and rest up. By next week you'll be singing another tune and dancing all over the place!!!

I can understand how you feel. I wrote a blog for 8 years about busting my butt to lose weight and promising myself that I would never have surgery. Well, last year I had it. My only regret now is that I let myself get in my own way for 8 years.
It's ok to have emotions about it, but dang...you're doing something, the only shame is in the not trying.

My mother stopped by my house for some last minute planning before my surgery on Friday. As she was leaving, I started to cry and she was lovely and hugged me and said all the right things. It was very sweet as those kinds of moments don't happen often anymore. However, what I realized I was crying about was not fear about the surgery or the future, but shame. Shame that I'm about to turn 54 and I am so overweight and so unable to maintain a healthy weight that I'm having surgery. Shame that I don't have the will power or the magic key that I KNOW doesn't exist. Shame because my parents always pushed me to lose weight and keep it off and I could never do the second part, and now I have somehow failed them. Shame that I'm doing something I swore I'd never do, and shame because I feel like I'm being punished for having failed all those other weight loss attempts (hundreds of them, literally)
And yes, know that none of this is rational, I know the reality of my situation, but I was surprised to find that deep sense of shame still existed.
Thank you all for being part of a place I can just go and vent.

I believe you need to take a step back and assess what has happened over the years that has lead to NOW! There is hope so don't be discourages. your off to a good start with going to the gym. My suggestions are to meet with a therapist to help you deal with any emotional issues, a nutritionist to assess your diet and attitude towards food, and your surgeon ( you could talk about other options like switching to RNY or high Protein diet to loss the pounds). But most all remember surgery is just a TOOL the rest is up to us and how we use it. Just assess your reasons for weight loss was it for health reasons or vanity? because the answer matters in what we do later! I have high hopes for you! You can do this just have this.
For me it was 85% health reasons and 15% vanity. Because I look very good for my weight and height most people don't believe I weight as much as I do because I carry it well...but I know the doctors report and I was pre-a lot of things! So, that was my main reason.
What is it for you? That hold the key to your success.

I didn't do this, but would recommend you meet with the new surgeon (or his/her staff), and explain the situation. They can help you figure out what to do.
If you feel super strongly about this, then even if it means starting the process completely over, be willing to do it. The postop care is an ongoing relationship.. kinda like marriage. Most surgeons don't like taking patients that were operated on by another surgeon, especially if there is a complication. So make sure you are comfortable with your choice before going under the knife.
