I’ve been smoking oil from my pen since 3 days after surgery and have had no issues! Way better than pain pills in my opinion

You've lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks. I really don't see what the problem is. When is the last time you lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks? I conjecture the answer is, "Never."
My surgery day weight was 218 pounds, so you and I started at nearly the same starting point. Most of my monthly losses were single digit (1 to 7 pounds a month).
It took me 17 months to reach my goal weight. Although I was a slow loser, I'm dancing on a cloud because this is the first time I've been able to keep the weight off.
It's not about how rapidly you lose. Rather, it's about keeping it off for life.
Most of us could lose weight without surgery. Personally, I lost 200+ pounds in the 2 decades prior to surgery (lose 30, gain 50, lose 60, gain 90, rinse/repeat) but could never keep it off.
You're doing well when the bigger picture is examined. Stay off the scale so often and don't ruin a wonderful weight loss tool with a binge episode.
Good luck to you. You can do this.

Everyone here will have their own views and experiences. That's why we are here...to get different information and support from each other.

My papers from DR and NUT say 1000 to 1500 is a target with women at the lower end and men at the higher end. This is starting at week 6. I struggle to get 1000 calories and the NUT said 800 to 1000 would be good for me when I did a check in a few weeks ago. On my big gym days I add real Peanut Butter and 2% milk to help get my numbers up.

How are you doing now cat6618? I am almost 3 weeks post op and only down 10.5 lbs since day of surgery. I'm discouraged too. I'm currently 193 lbs but only 5'1. My weight has been the exact same for 4 days now. Would love to hear if the scale started moving again for you.

I just had my first weigh in, exactly one week post op and I lost 5 pounds. I was starting to get down because I expected a lot more than that because of what I had heard from other people. But I've had quite a few non scale victories so I'm trying to focus on that. Plus all of these testimonials of people going through the same thing made me feel a bit better as well. So thank you all

I had surgery a week ago and have only lost 2 lbs from day of surgery!! My doctor has me on Clear Liquids the first week and I have been perfect - getting over 60 ounces in without a problem and no cheating. I see all these posts about loosing a ton the first week and it's making me worried. Anyone who has been around for a bit care to weigh in here??

I just wanted to chime in here. I don't come around much anymore. There's probably an old buried thread I started years ago about slow loss success stories somewhere around here.

I'm 7 years out next month. I lost about six pounds a month. I had months where I lost just two pounds. I had six week stalls followed by nine pounds off, then I'd bounce back up a few pounds. It took me 17 months to lose 107 pounds. I got pregnant six months later (on purpose) and in the year after I had my daughter, I lost that weight and went below my initial goal weight by another 17 pounds, bringing me to my final weight of 118 pounds today. I've been steady for 2.5 years.

Slow loss is frustrating but it's still loss. At times. Let's not lie - the stalls are agonizing. My body loved every bit of the weight and didn't want to give any up. I tried every trick in the book. The only thing that worked was being consistent. My body eventually gave in. I needed less calories than most people, I needed to eat some carbs, but I mostly needed to just keep plugging away.

The good thing is that I can promise you there is no expiration date on your sleeve. So it doesn't matter if you lose in a year or three. Just lose it. And live a better life for it.

You guys get the struggle. I never liked the whining bit, because it was always harder for me.

    Good luck to you.

I don't mean people freaking out about the week 3 stall or frustrated because they "only" lost 20 lbs the first six weeks. While I am curious what most people consider "slow", I mostly mean people at least 6 months post op, with significant weight to lose, and who averaged around maybe 8-12 lbs a month. Including stalls and everything, averaged over multiple months. And who preferably kept losing.
I just keep reading these success stories of people losing unbelievable amounts of weight during their honeymoon. Granted, I have some serious health problems that have cropped up and have still managed to loose a around 50 lbs in a little under 6 months. And that was after taking over a month to drop back down to DOS weight.
But every other topic on Slow Losers Unite seems to be, "OMG - I only lost x weight and have stalled at week 3!" Or it's evil twin, "OMG, I'm at under two months have have only lost x!" Make that the identical evil twin - even as a total noob I knew at two months your body was still a train wreck and you could really just stay on plan and hope for the best.
I've seen a few comments about long term slow losing from old timers - but also heard rumors they've gone the way of the buffalo.
Sorry I'm cranky and out of touch - I've been busy getting Iron transfusions, a blood transfusion, an extremely invasive ultrasound, and trying to schedule and get ready for next week's hysterectomy. Take ALL THE IRON!!!!
Give me some hope here, people - I'm almost at 6 months, coming up on my 46th birthday, and still have serious amounts of weight to lose. 50 more pounds would still put me at my overweight college self and would be kind of nice to not be in the obese range at some point in my life.

My pre-op is also the 8th but surgery not scheduled yet. I imagine, like you, that joints well feel SO much better with excess weight gone. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I know it will still be an issue but maybe a little more easy to deal with. . Best of luck to you!!
