I'm 51 and I'm right there with you. My sons are grown, but I want to do things that I haven't been able to do since before the boys were younger. Good luck to you on this wonderful journey!

Good luck! I am glad to hear that not everyone had to do two weeks in liquid clear. My doctor requires it, so I will comply. A MFP pal said at least I will be well hydrated. [emoji3]

I start my liquid diet today too. I set up my crystal light Popsicles last night. Surgery on Wednesday. It's getting real.

Absolutely. But if it's meant to be, they will figure out a way to work it out.
    This relationship stuff is hard!

I make the dinner for the both of us! I just leave out the starch. He's used to Protein and a veggie for dinner. That's how it's been for the last 4 years. But he still eats his sweets and Snacks. I find healthier options. See? Compromise

aw, but really? We can want what we want and commit to change our lives, but the people with us are effected. I always made great dinners and now you have to make your own dinners -- big game changer, imo. Not enough to dissuade me from surgery, but enough to know to SO's life is going to change and maybe for the worse, at least for 6-12 months.

I also believe that if you have a crappy relationship pre op, you'll have a crappier relationship post op as the bariatric patient becomes happier and more secure with themselves, hence the divorce rate post op. Stronger relationships are able to adapt and work though the inevitable changes.

@BarbieVSG14 I agree with everything in your post!! BUT, the reality is that bariatric surgery is correlated with divorce, and, sadly, it may be worse for people who are not married. I'm 27 years married, and am blessed with a guy who loves my "diets" because he always loses weight. And he's ready to stop drinking alcohol, so that helps, too. I can only assume its awful for couples when they arent in the same place mentally. It would be like be married to someone who voted for Trump! <<haha

    Hi All,
i was sleeved on the first, with a hietal hernia repair. I can honest say that the gastric doesn’t hurt one bit, on the other hand, the hernia is painful and it’s so difficult to pass gas via mouth. It makes my chest feel like am having a heart attack. I haven’t been able to meet my liquids due to the hernia. Warm broth goes down great, but Water gives me pain (is not even cold, I drink it at room temperature. I walk for about 10 min 5-6 times a day. I basically just do laps around my pool (walking). Everyday it gets little better. Good luck to all those who are still not at day 1 yet. Be patient and listen to your body, it will tell what it needs. Glad you’re doing great confusedturtle3....

I was sleeved on 11/02. Incision pains aren’t nearly as bad as gas pains. I wasn’t able to get any liquids down yesterday but I got 33oz down tonight. It doesn’t hurt as much to drink now so I should be fine meeting my liquid goals for this week. I haven’t tried broth or Jello yet and prob won’t until another couple of days. Walking helps with the gas but can be painful because of the gas. My doctor recommends walking 3-4x a day for 30 minutes. I only got in about 45 minutes today so I’ll really need to space that out. Good luck to all of you November sleevers!

I'm ok. Tired from lack of calories lol. I walked down a pier today and that was enough activity for me (granted it was also a 1.5 hour drive from where I live). Just laying low and waiting it out. Lots of chores this weekend to get everything **** and span so I don't have to worry about that for a while!

You can do it! I turned 50 in June. It was a good kick in the ass to get things going in the right direction. My kids are still home for a while, 15 and 9. I have time to make an impact on my life and theirs.
Go you for wanting to run! I never want to run unless I'm being chased

My thoughts on a bad day? Never a bad day, only bad moments in a day. You need alternatives to food that you can turn to for emotional fulfillment. Mine is sugar free candy like lifesavers. You may find some help here.
