Rosered71 got a reaction from MarinaGirl in 2017 MGB patient's!
I am a newbie here, who just had MGB surgery on June 21. I am so excited to begin losing! Right now the biggest battle I am dealing with is the post surgery gas. I am really hoping it is a short term (post surgery) issue and not a long term problem. I have read various reports, but most of the, are from RNY not, MGB people.
I would love to hear updates from those of you who are a bit further down the path.
How long can I expect this gas? Any tips on helping? I am not in the US, so access to some meds for me might be difficult.

You can get a revision! No need for a total reversal unless tests prove otherwise. RNY can KILL. My sister went with a RNY because insurance paid for it but she ended up with two bowel resections and multiple stays in the hospital. Join MGB Group on Facebook. Both Dr. Rutledge and Dr. Peraglie watch the page and can jump in when needed. We have members from all over the world who have had or are hoping to have the procedure and many have years of experience.

I'm sorry but this information is simply not correct. When you watch a surgery, you will see that both the MGB and the RNY leave the rest of the stomach intact. The digestive juices do not travel into the pouch if the surgeon does it correctly. So it does what the RNY does. It helps to get rid of acid reflux. I had the MGB three months ago. No reflux at all.

    Hi
I am surprised to read you are having the MGB 'due to reflux'. Here in England, reflux seems to be a disqualifying condition for the MGB. The stomach pouch which is created in the process turns your stomach into a 'higher pressure valve' which is unsuitable for someone with exisiting reflux issues (this is according to my surgeon). I never had reflux issues so I had the MGB and now I suddenly do suffer from occasional reflux and indigestion/heartburn.
My friend who is using the same surgeon as me has a history of reflux issues and has therefore had to have the RNY bypass.
Please do some research and find the ideal surgery for you. It is too expensive and too much of a trauma to end up with the wrong procedure for you!

I had a revision to the mini gastric bypass from the sleeve on March 31, 2016. I went to Mexico. I was scheduled with Dr. Illan but due to an emergency that morning (his appendix ruptured) Dr. Zavalza stepped in and did my surgery. No problems and I'm about 8 pounds from goal but smaller in size than I thought I would be.

I had the MGB in Tijuana 4 weeks ago and am doing great. I feel very good about my decision and think it was absolutely the right procedure for me.

I don't see how they can say it's 'new'. It's been around since 1996 and it's a mainstream procedure in Europe apparently. It sure sounds like the best option to me.

I do feel hungry but not like I used to, my stomach doesn't growl or anything. Its more likely getting hungry from the neck up (mouth watering and "head hunger") I'm 6 months post RNY.
I do feel satisfied after eating a small amount, but I don't really feel full. I just stop eating because I don't feel hungry anymore. I've only eaten too much for the pouch a handful of times. It feels very uncomfortable but unfortunately I can't tell its happening until its too late. It usually when I'm doing something else while eating mindlessly.

Yes I started to feel hunger after the first month - but only after about 3 hours. Any hunger during that 3 hours is usually because I need to drink more Fluid or I didn't eat enough dense Protein or I'm bored. My NUT has her patients eating 5 mini-meals a day - that really helps with not getting that starving hunger feeling.
