  1. I didn't have to do the liquid diet pre-op- thank goodness!
  2. Hey Njgal I'm in New Jersey too! My insurance made me wait 6 months. It was very frustrating, but in the end I think it was a good thing. I only lost 3 or 4 pounds in the 6 months but I thought a lot about my habits and relationship with food. I was sleeved 6/21 with Dr. Goyal at NJ Bariatrics in Springfield NJ (they have an office in Somerset too.) he is fabulous as is the whole office. I was at Overlook hospital and stayed an additional night because I couldn't drink the 20 oz I needed to be discharged. The first few days were very tough but getting on the scale at day 6 and seeing I had lost 14 pounds was just incredible! And so motivating! I'm on stage 2 now- eating soft foods. After 2 weeks of shakes this is a god send lol Where in NJ are you? Who is you doc? H 5'6 HW 299, CW 277 VGS 6/21
  3. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks post op and I can start soft foods now. I have been dreaming about scrambled eggs! But now I'm scared. I've been tolerating shakes fine- although I am so sick of them! What's the first soft meal like? Should I expect to get sick? Also do I scramble it in Pam spray? Thanks! Lucy

    Tuesday's the day

I'm 6 days out. I was surprised at how awful I felt while I was in the hospital. I couldn't get enough fluids in to leave so I had to stay an extra night. Oddly, I had no pain and only Tylenol while in the hospital. That wasn't the issue. It was nausea. And dry heaving and just not being comfortable. I'm home now and settling in. I'm down 15 pounds already and barley remember the misery of my first few days. I am beyond happy I had the surgery- absolutely worth the initial feelings the first few days.
  5. Hi all! This is my first post. I had the sleeve surgery last week on June 21. When I woke up my blood pressure was high and kept climbing. At one point it was 200/105. I got bp meds through my iv and was sent home on oral meds. My bp is about 160/90 now. I think the meds are making dizzy and tired (although maybe it's because I'm 6 days post op?) I'm wondering if anyone else has had the experience of having normal bp before the sleeve and then having high blood pressure when they woke up? Thanks! Lucy
