  1. i most certainly understand how you feel but even tho they are going to talk about you behind your back one way or the other, i want to feel good knowing that im being honest and not trying to hide anything regardless of the consequences...i guess its just how each of us want to 'deal' with it.....i suppot each of us in the choices we make, because bottom line is it is our choice who to tell, what to tell etc... good luck!
  2. not sure why you are having to 'hide' the fact that you had the lap band surgery? i remember when star jones hid the fact that she had surgery and then everyone just 'gossiped' about her. im just having a hard time understanding why anyone would want to hide this. the people that ive told have been incredibly supportive, not sure i could be doing this without people knowing. when i tell them that im going to have the surgery, i definately tell them the differences between the gastic bypass vs the lap band and the WORK that is involved with the lap band. I just think it would be so much easier to be honest than have people 'talking' behind your back....its not something to hide in shame over. Its about a life style change that we all should be proud and happy about ,not embarrassed or ashamed.
  3. good luck to you too! i heard they had a great program. kim
  4. youWeight Loss Tickers are an inspiration...
  5. I am from Sharon MA, work in Boston and hopefully will be having surgery at the Brigham....I see Dr. Lautz May 8th...cant wait to get things rolling! Kim
  6. Grace...thank you for your reply. That was very helpful. It's also very encouraging to see your weight loss as well. I am at the same weight that you started, so Im VERY encouraged by your weight loss!! Congratulations!! kim
  7. I was wondering what kind of pain medication most of you are sent home on, and a ball park figure on how much pain to expect. Ive had a C-Section and that wasn't too bad...any worse than that? kimberly
  8. hello whisper...i just got back from my seminar that i have to attend before having the surgery. they told us that the main reason to go on the liquid diet, is to get some weight off FAST in order to get your liver in shape (get the enzymes normal) prior to the surgery because technically you will do better post-operatively......it has nothing to do with seeing if you will do well or not with the lap band.
  9. I am a newbie to this site and so far very excited about it. I have my appt set to see Dr. Lautz @ BW in Boston the first week in May, cant come soon enough! I live in Sharon and would love to chat with anyone that lives in this area or has had an experience at BW. kim
  10. I have an appt with Dr. Lautz at Brigham and Womens. I am a registered nurse and did extensive research on bariatric surgeons and decided upon this guy. In doing my research, I came across posts from previous patients of his and that he was fabulous. I also contacted the State Board Of Medical Licensure and he is clean as a whistle, has never had any infractions or lawsuits brought against him. He is board certified (this is important) and is the director of the bariatric department at BW. I see him for my first appt in May and am quite comfortable with who I have selected...hope this helps and good luck! kim
