Water, broth, water with Crystal Light or other non-caloric flavoring, protein shakes, protein water (there's a theme here). Sugar-free jello, sugar-free popsicles. Water! I think I've hit the major players . . . my suggestion would be to make sure you get the protein shakes in--that's probably the only thing that will make you feel full at all.

You will want clear liquids for the first week and protein shakes/powder for the first month. Sometimes your tastes change post-op so don't stock up too much on any one flavor or brand just in case this happens to you.

Sugar free ice pops are enjoyed by many here and drinkable yogurt low sugar. Sugar free jello if you like that. I made some homemade soups the first couple weeks and drank the broth. That bwas so much better then just buying broth.

You may need some miralax or MOM for constipation.

Good luck and I hope you continue to post about your journey.

If they are forcing you on liquids for 3 months, and selling you something like Optifast. I would look for another Dr.

  4. August sleevers what are your preparations for August and when do the pre op dieting start?

I still have a ton of appointments before surgery: nutritionist today, psych next week; cardiac and pulmonary next week; more gastro-enterology work, including an upper endoscopy; another group meeting . . . clearance from my doctor.

My official pre-op diet starts two weeks before surgery, but my surgeon said I should be on a low-carb diet now. I have noticed that most people seem to lose a noticeable amount before surgery, though not all do. So I'm trying to transition from my "this is my last chance to eat this!" attitude to the new mindset.
