I gave up unhealthy food & beverage favorites months before surgery. It was hard to give up sugar, processed food, bread, soda, and alcohol but I wanted to make a lasting change and to not go through "detox" and have to deal with cravings right after surgery. This approach worked well for me and I'd recommend others consider doing the same to prepare for your new lifestyle ahead of time.

I started this post and guess what I must be a sensitive newbie. Every post I read of yours is borderline rude. You may think you are throwing down words of wisdom but you don't have to be hateful. Thanks for the only piece of good advice I am taking. I blocked you.

You have to really try not to compare yourself with others. There are so many reasons people lose at different rates. There are vets on here that were slow losers and they are at goal and have stayed there. Try and just focus on what you need to do and it'll come off. I'm a slow loser too. I track everything and get my water in. The thing is we are losing and will keep losing if we stay on plan.
Another bit of advice. Don't weigh daily right now, try once a week. Have to taken your measurements? I lose inches every month and it's encouraging when the scale is being a jerk.

It may not be by much, but I finally did it! Gosh, it's good to see a 1 at the beginning of my weight for the first time in so long...I'm too excited!!
EDIT: In other news, since I kicked my butt into high gear as soon as I hit 300, this marks a 100 pound weight loss too!

Hang in there! I stalled for about 2 weeks. I mean no loss! But I was down a pant size. You're losing but your body is holding onto Water. Basically what happens is when your losing fat your body replaces those fat cells with water. Keep working and the water will come off. Hang in there! It WILL happen if you stick to the plan. I weighed one day and bam 5 pounds gone!

In no way was I sugesting people not follow their Dr's advice. This forum is to just share our experiences. I am not advicing anyone just sharing my experience which is all new to us. You are entitled to your opinion but you seem to have a really negative tone in your post. I do not appreciate you taking my joke of chewing food and spiting it out as a future eating disorder. You don't know me and have no right to judge me. You also have no right to tell us that listing to your body is bad advice. You are not a Dr nor a psychologist so your opinion is not any better than my opinion. We are grown up human beings that are smart and can think for ourselves. We don't need you bringing your negative bashing to the forum. If someone did not agree with my comments they do not have to consider them at all and just move on. You took it apon yourself to think that anyone who read my post was to stupid to form their own opinion and you had to tear my comments apart with what you felt was right and correct. This is a friendly sharing site. Please don't ruin it.

That is a good idea. Next week I will be past the activity restrictions so I am hoping to get in the routine of going to the gym. We shall see [emoji3]. Good luck to you!

I am just past the three week mark. I had a rough first couple of weeks. I have felt better the last couple of days. My problem is I already want to cheat. Last night I wanted something salty so bad. I swear if there had been chips in the house I would have tried to eat them. I ended up getting a green olive and chewing it for days until it was mush. My surgeon seems to have a longer no solid food phase than some I have read about. I have puréed for two more weeks, than soft foods for two after that and then I progress to solid. I am afraid I will try and skip ahead. I am a self pay and the thought of failure and wasting money keeps me stressed. How does everyone keep on track? Do you or have you slipped? What are your secrets to success? Thank you.

2 months out and I came home from vacation 4 lbs heavier. Probably Water retention because I've been home a week and lost the 4lbs plus 4 more. Don't get rattled. Keep on going and you will lose it.

Pre op I was losing weight easily. Post op it is more slowly and I had about a 3 week period with nothing. Once I got to week 6 and started eating real food again the scale started moving again.
This week the scale moved backward a bit but I am having one of the heaviest menstrual cycles I've had in years. I know I'm retaining Water because my ankles tell me so! I'm trying to drink more water and got a b6 B12 injection this morning.

Despite the scale not moving the way I expected, I am finding clothes are getting too big...i have one cute work blouse that I haven't worn in 4 years or more...i keep trying it on. It will now button! It pulls too much to actually wear but a couple of weeks ago there was about 2 inches before it would close. So I know I'm making progress.
Finding joy in the non scale victories is a big part of what keeps me going.
It is hard to be patient. Having faith in the program is tough.
But I find inspiration with the people here who share their stories and try to imagine where I'll be at my one year mark.

I'm going through a stall too, and it is disappointing. So many give you some great advice, and you should read back on the posts to see it. My surgery was 6/14, and I'm suffering through a 2.5 week stall. I know it won't be long before I start to lose again, but it is depressing. Good luck and hang in there! I'm right with you!!!

Well not sure if this is going to be helpful but i feel the same way and i moved up my diet about 4 days early. I am doing really well tolerating food and i let my body judge what i can do to a certain extent. When i was on liquids i was so hungry so i tried just a couple bites of vegi refried Beans. I did just fine and it filled me up longer. FYI if i really want to taste something i chew it up, taste it then spit it out....lol Seriously do what you got to but keep on the right track. This is forever so take time to adjust and know you are going to be great at this.
    Love and Light to you

Also look at low calorie options. When salt cravings hit, I go to a cup of low sodium broth or Unjury chicken Soup. Sweet-popsicle. Makes it so much easier to get past the cravings.

    Hello fam,
just a Lil update on my life . 7 months post op. I was sleeved Dec 5. I am officially divorced now. I am happy n really enjoying me in this new bod. The surgery wasn't the reason for my divorce ,my husband was a caterer cheater , lol. But the surgery made him feel that now I was a threat in the marriage because I was getting attention . But it was his insecurities n lied that kept him from appreciating the woman he had. So , hell with him, I'm single as a dollar bill now.
I am 7 mos post op and down 90 lbs ( 89.7 to be exact). I weigh 153 lbs and I am 5'7. I now wear a size 4 in women's clothing and even fit into size 2 Vera wang dress today, NSV for me. My surgeon set my goal at 150 lbI feel so good about the choice I made to have this surgery and I would do it 10 more time if I had to. Enjoy the pics and good lock to everyone .

    1. It is amazing how we see ourselves as opposed to how others see us. We look in the mirror through a lens of years of negative self-talk. Stop looking at yourself and instead soak up what others say about you. If you only have 60 pounds to lose then there is no doubt that 27 pounds are noticeable...own it!
    2. My stomach healed awesome! Be thankful for that. I was so bummed to think that I was taking a perfectly healthy digestive system and making drastic changes to it with the possibility of having food sensitivities, GERD and a host of other possibilities that I just never had to deal with. Thankfully that did not happen and I am super happy about it.
    3. If your "normal" is like before surgery then say bye, bye to normal:-) A new normal will begin to emerge. My new normal is being able to pass every junk food restaurant without even once thinking of giving it a go. It is having the control to stop eating when I'm full and push the plate away while I concentrate on the amazing friends and family I am with. It is enjoying a hike with my husband and son. Now is the time to create a new normal for yourself. In no time you will be eating out, enjoying friends and family, and living an amazingly fuller, happier life because you are a new, healthier normal.
I have ~39 pounds of the 80 that I had to lose. I love the way my body feels, moves and looks. Would I like tighter skin? You bet...but I'm completely ok with it just as it is now. Wow! What a revelation! Like I said...own it!!!!
    Take care.

I don't think raw vegetables are allowed at this phase. However, every surgeon is different. I just started the soft phase too. I had some chicken yesterday but had some pains in my stomach. I just had Soup today. I hope you get some good ideas. Thanks for starting the post.

The first few weeks for me were emotional as well. I am about to start week 5 and I still feel a little out of whack. If you like refried Beans I would try that. I made a crockpot of pinto beans and made my own. That way I could control the sodium and sugar. I added a little enchilada sauce and reduced fat cheese. Cottage cheese is also something I am eating a lot. I made a recipe from my doctors website that was basically puréed ground turkey meat, ricotta cheese and low sugar marinara sauce. It wasn't as good as lasagna but it was tasty. Good luck with the upcoming weeks!

Hello! I had my procedure on 6/12. Currently I am in the puréed phase. I think my biggest obstacle has been the fact I am tired a lot of the time. My Dr said it will probably last a few more weeks. It has been nice to have some texture in my food. I suggest homemade refried Beans for sure. I just cooked pinto beans in the crockpot. Puréed them in the food processor and added a little enchilada sauce and reduced fat cheese. Baked butternut squash puréed with garlic and Greek yogurt cream cheese was nice too. Wishing everyone a lot of success!
