NikkiPen got a reaction from Msdooloo in Who is doing Keto and sticking with it??
At around 3 months post op, i began having salty carb cravings, Cheez-its, or Triscuits, etc. Dry, carb, salty is what i really wanted! When I found myself at the store buying a big box of Cheez-Itz, I realized I needed to change something. So I did some reading and research, and knowing that Keto is forever, not just to get to a goal, this was a bigger jump for me somehow. But I had all that surgery and all, so why not go for the gold??
I've recently downloaded 4 cookbooks that use 5 ingredients, contain 5 carbs to make all of the keto recipes, Bfast, lunch, dinner, and Dessert (In Five <-- for those google searchers). These aren't bariatric geared, so I have to pay attention to the end of day totals and see if i'm lacking in any Protein areas. LOTS of fun foods in there, incorporating cream and cheese and eggs into a lot, but at the same time, not having to eat eggs and bacon every morning for bfast. I've not used those ketostix, but I'm sure as this goes along, I'll want to keep up with that. I'm still just starting out.
This morning I am eating a Maple Pecan Porridge, made with Coconut Flour and Ground Flaxseed, with Cinnamon and toasted Pecans. I has a great taste, and certainly filled me up faster than expected. And most of these recipes are made for either 2 or 4 servings. I'm making for me only, hubs is a carb man, but I usually can adjust for 2 servings so that i only have 1 leftover meal.

And I set this up as Nasty- trying to figure out what to do with it now. I got the Creamer, and the Cafe Bella. I'm able to drink the Bella now, but I have to add 2 cups of full strength coffee, and half a cup of 2% milk in order to drink it. Way too sweet for me otherwise, and quite expensive.

Though I do like the grilled cheese flavor crunchies. Sriracha is spicy and honey mustard bbq is kinda sweet

I had an issue with chewing 4 big chalky Calcium tabs a day and went in search for solutions without it being a capsule either. I found this and I really enjoy it. Its the consistency of the drinkable yogurt. Tastes like a slightly tart blueberry yogurt shooter. Just 2 TBSP every morning

Thanks for this very thorough rundown of your palate pleasers (and displeasers). I'm definitely saving this and adjusting to my own tastes.

I am 4 years post-op RNY. As far as the inner me, I did not detect any change.
But some individuals do. I think perhaps it might be expectations. They might believe that if they lost the weight, everything in their lives would change for the better - that overweight was the root cause of all their personal problems. It doesn't.
In my case I had the surgery because my obesity was causing me to slide down the slippery slope of bad health conditions (high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, severe acid reflux [Gerd]). The surgery corrected those conditions and I am very please to be healthy again. I also was pleasantly surprised on how easy it was to drop the weight because after the operation I lost my hunger. And I was also surprised by the fact that I went from a size 3X in shirts down to a size Small and from a size 46 in pants down to a size 33. It meant that I could shop in department stores again and replace my wardrobe with the latest fashionable styles.
Perhaps another component is hormones. As you lose weight, the chemicals and hormones that were stored in your fat cells are released into your body. These will pass through your kidneys and be expelled in your urine. But they can generate a flush of hormones during the weight loss phase and in some people dramatically affect their mood. This hormone rush generally simmers down once you transition into maintenance. It is important to meet your daily Fluid requirements, because it take fluids to flush these hormones from your system.
Another component to your question is how the outside world treats the obese you from the slim, fit you. People treat fat people differently. Some comments may rub you wrong. Sometimes this is out of jealousy. Some people perhaps may even wish you to fail because they are obese and do not want to follow your path.

I had exactly the same issue - 2 months, out all over the place, totally unable to tolerate the work stress and totally overwhelmed. I wrote a post about it [emoji23]
I ended up quitting kinda suddenly. Part of me wished I had hung on til I was in a better place emotionally. I hated the place and the quitting was not totally out of the blue but the emotional upheaval brought on by the sleeve definitely contributed to everything being totally overwhelming.
Hold on, if you can - it does get easier. Take a mental health day off for your sanity and to recharge so you are better equipped to cope. I wish I had done that when I needed to!
    Good luck!

@Mershyou are kinda being an aggressive prick. You post a topic, you open up the conversation, then don't like the path the conversation follows.
It sounds like you are doing awesome and are very successful. You have a solid plan to live your life and meet your goals. You have a dietician and a trainer and "get all the advice you need" .
If you have all the support and all the information and don't enjoy the opinions of others to support you, then might I suggest you stop visiting this site. You seem to have support all around you.
And yes this is my opinion and judgment based on your sarcastic bullying remarks to a perfect stranger on a social media site.

I was too afraid of dying to getting sick to really test my sleeve early on. I live alone far away from friends and family so I had surgery alone and recovered alone.
I am pretty happy that I was so afraid, because by the time I introduced other foods. I had so much success with my weight loss, I wasn't willing to risk it for food.
Just because you can tolerate foods, doesn't mean you should try them. You really need to get handle on your cravings because by the time you are 6 months you will be able to eat larger amounts of the foods you shouldn't be eating.
At the 2 year mark I could easily eat 3-4000 calories a day if all I did was sit in the house and munch all day. Large pizza, family size bag of chips, unlimited Cookies. All of that. In a day if all I did was eating. Nothing is going to stop you from eating bad foods but you.
