I just got my sleeve last Saturday but I can tell you, years ago I was extremely social when I was thin, but once I gained the weight I became a hermit . I stopped seeing my friends, stopped going out, became a recluse, broke up with my bf who i loved, and just went out for work. I know once I lose my weight and am thin again I will be very social. I cannot wait. Unfortunately, my entire self worth is tied to my weight which is something I have to work on because I know heavy ppl that have full and wonderful lives. I was just raised that you must be thin or your not worth anything so for me, its a huge issue.

My appt is july 14...I cannot wait. I was thin up until 40 and then I gained 100 lbs..so tired of the yo yo'ing. I dont understand some ppl on the blogs are asking how long until they can eat fried food and icecream. Isn't the whole point of this surgery to help us while we change our eating habits and start eating healthy? I got to 250 from eating fried foods! I dont want to eat that crap after surgery!

My insurance doesn't cover it and even if it did, the deductible is so high it would have cost a fortune anyway. I'm having my sleeve done in Mexico Saturday by one of the top bariatric surgeons in the world and its costing me under $5000. America has the worst health insurance in the world if you ask me.

I can't believe it guys! I really can't! I am seriously crying tears of joy.

    When I started this process I was 540 pounds (I'm 5'10) and I wore a size 36/38.

As a lot of you know I had my panniculectomy on June 5th and they removed 15 pounds of skin.

Before my panniculectomy I wore a size 22 bottom and 14/16-18/20 top. I had bought smaller sized pants before my surgery because most of my pants were held up by my extra skin flap.

Guys...I fit into a size EIGHTEEN!!! And I look super good!! I'm attaching some before and after pictures for you guys to enjoy!

I can't believe this is real life!

    My stomach is flat!!

(Please excuse my one drain in my one picture!)

NYCGAL000 reacted to GotProlactinoma in Insight into "frustrating" success of pre op diet
This is only the third day of my pre op diet. Two Protein Drinks and a meal of Protein and veggies. I had to see a doctor yesterday and got on the scale and it was the lowest I've been in years. And then I thought what everyone else probably thinks. Hey. Why do I need surgery if I can just STARVE myself into the proper weight loss (because I am literally hungry all day now)? And then a little lightbulb floated over my head with the answer.
It's like the dawn, for me. I am a night owl. The dawn is beautiful and special. Yet I only see it if I have to be up for a trip or something. I COULD theoretically see it every day, but I WONT. I literally will not get up that early unless forced. Even, I would like to take my kids to the rose parade BUT I DONT. Because EARLY. Starving ourselves like on this pre op diet is something we simply would never do. It makes me feel better about the surgery. Maybe if it helps anyone else, I'll share my lightbulb moment.

NYCGAL000 got a reaction from IveGotThePower in NO Carbonated beverages- FOREVER!
I know this first hand. My sister had gastric bypass 10 years ago. She hardly drank before. She is a now a raging alcoholic who has been in and out of the hospital and rehabs about 50 times. She doesn't eat anymore, other than Gummy bears or nips candy and drinks about 2 cases of beer per day along with chain smoking. I have no idea how she is alive. I have tried to help her for years even having her live with me this past year but she was destroying my life with her drinking and violent outbursts so I had to let her go. She now lives with my other sister making her life a living hell. She lost her husband, her home, her kids, her jobs, everything. So she lost weight but she gained an alcoholic addiction. This is why I will rarely drink after my surgery. .Scares the hell out of me

I wouldn't try anything bigger than aspirin for a month after surgery. After that any gel caps should be fine, bigger pills may need to be crushed, but physically I have not had and problem with pills.
oh and incidentally I would actually stay away from aspirin, and definitely never use NSAIDs. Tylenol is ok though. Of course always double-check with your doc.

    Bariatric surgery complications:
Are almost never life-threatening (99.9% survival rate) Are non-existent for about 93% of patients (30-day complication rate is 7%) Risk can be further minimized in a number of ways Differ depending on which procedure you choose

I dont know about this...I dont drink soda simply because I dont like it unless Im very sick and then just ginger-ale but my sister who had bypass surgery, manages to get down an 18 pack of beer every day with no issues (other then shes dying and killing herself) . She starting drinking beer right after surgery. Everyone is different. I just think if were doing this to be healthy, having soda probably isn't the wisest thing. I love to smoke especially with a glass of wine but had to quit cold turkey a month ago for this but its worth it. I'm going nuts not smoking and It will be worse when I can't eat but anything in life worth having isn't easy, if it was easy, everyone would do it.

LOL well the funny and sad part about it is, I'm actually taking my mom on the cruise for her bday and so I bought the deluxe unlimited alcohol package and the deluxe exclusive restaurants package and she doesn't even drink, maybe one glass of wine a week, ha! I did this not knowing I would have the surgery 4 months later ....

oh our lucky! its humid and hot in NYC! uggh I hate it! well slushies are like those icy drinks you get from 7 eleven. do you know what italian ice is? ill make one today and send you a picture. If you have a really good blender that makes the ice like snow you can make it. you make the ice like snow, then you put in a seperate cup some sugar free koolaid or crystal lite packet and a tiny bit of Water. then you poor it on the ice in a tupperware and close it and shake so all the ice is covered. it makes italian ice and its only 5 calories! i eat it all day i love it here are some pics what it loks like
