dannielle_down400lbs got a reaction from Frankw19 in What are the differences between the various Duodenal switch operstions
    Hi Davina!

Ok, let's start with the "diet." DSers need LOTS of healthy fats. I cook everything in real butter, I eat burgers, pizza toppings, etc. It's necessary for me, and all DSers to have high fat, low carb diet. Stay away from foods high in carbs and those filled with sugar. And one of the #1 rules- don't drink your carbs/sugars!

I take the following Vitamins, but I get lab work regularly and tweak them as needed. I take two Multi Vitamins, vitamins A, D, E & K1 separately (dry forms, from Amazon), B12, Calcium, magnesium oxide, and a couple of other randoms. There's a PHENOMENAL group of DSers on FB if you'd like to add me, and I'll add you to the group.

Bowel movements and gas are solved over time. You'll learn your trigger foods and you'll most likely learn to avoid them. It's a lot to do with you common channel (cc) size also. Do you have any idea what the length of yours will be? But as for the smell? It's inevitable. I do a "courtesy flush" often and I use Poo-Pourri- it works!!!

    My weight stats:

    HW: 650+
    SW: 636
LW: 213 (for about an hour!)
    CW: 272

I'm not familiar with the SADI, but the traditional DS (what I have, I've lost over 400lbs) has two anastomoses, bypassing more of the intestines. Obviously, this causes more malabsorption. My common channel, where I absorb, is 150cm.

With the Loop DS, there is one anastomosis, and less malabsorption. It really depends on what works for you. There are few DS surgeons, but that's because few people are thoroughly educated about, it's benefits, etc.

dannielle_down400lbs got a reaction from illailla in Kentucky DSer (8 years post-op)
Hi everyone, I'm new here. I am approaching 8 years post-op (July) and am looking to maybe meet some people who are as far out as I am, or who are experiencing weight gain with the DS. I've started "back to basics" by eating smaller portions and watching my carbohydrate intake. If anyone has any similar experiences, I would love your input.

I remember the excitement of FINALLY being under 300lbs! You look amazing, congratulations! I wish you well on your journey with skin removal. I've lost 437lbs and have had 5 plastic surgeries.

I'm in Kentucky too, and I just started taking Saxenda for WL. I am almost 8 years post op and I've gained back 65 of the 437lbs I lost. I would like to lose that 65 + another 15lbs.

I am beyond ecstatic. I am now below 300 pounds! I started at 540 pounds on October 29, 2015 when I started this whole journey. I had surgery on May 29, 2016 at 480 pounds and Now, 10 1/2 months later I weigh 297.8! I have not had a 2 in the front of my weight in FOREVER. I only have 98 pounds to go until I hit my goal! (Which may change, I'm more going for a clothing size goal now more than a number goal )

I used to have to be on oxygen all the time because I was so fat I could not breathe properly. Now I can walk for over an hour with no break and not be out of breath! I am so extremely happy with my progress!

I used to HATE getting my picture taken, it was the WORST. Now I love getting in front of the camera, I ASK for pictures to be taken! This is the craziest thing for me. I feel pretty for the first time in a very very long time.

I started out at a size 6x (36-38) and now wear a an 18/20 on top and 22 on bottom. I even wear leggings now!

I have a large hanging skin on my stomach which I am having removed on June 5th! I will need a revision surgery when I get to goal but I am very excited for the surgery and the relief it will give me.

Here are some before and after pics for you guys!
