Even Tylenol tablets or caplets should be no problem to get down if you don't want to go the Rx pain med route. They are not very large.

I got the Walgreens brand of liquid Tylenol and it tastes much better than the Tylenol brand. Not good, but much easier to get down.

I had Oxy pills, those were fun getting from the pharmacy, lol. It was so much drama.
I stopped taking my pills when I got home though because I wanted to drive, So I had pain pills but I didn't take them.
Just ask for pills, and the nausea medicine is good to have too, just in case.
Doctors work for you, don't forget that.

I am with the pharmacist. I was given a hydrocodone pill in the hospital, in the evening after my surgery. They are not hard to get down. I have been taking my other meds by pill also every day - if you can get the hydrocodone or even tramadol, it should help more than the Tylenol. Be your advocate, call, discuss, and you make the decision with your surgeon.

Pharmacist here. Liquid acetaminophen is nasty. Ask for some tiny pain tablets. I've been on tablets since day 1 post op. I was sleeved on May 1 and have been taking small tablets or capsules since May 2. They gave me oxycodone 5mg for pain. They are very tiny tablets. They go down no problem for me. When I was on liquid pain med, they gave me the generic Lortab elixir (hydrocodone and acetaminophen.) It was strawberry flavored and not great, tasted like Chapstick and cough Syrup, but better than liquid Tylenol. I tried liquid Tylenol myself at home and didn't like how it sat or went down. Yuck. Ask for something else. It's not worth having your Fluid intake suffer and ending up dehydrated over liquid Tylenol.

Do you still need the tylenol? I could t stand it, and only took it for one day. Blech. You might not need it at this point.

Also, I would ask for an anti nausea med too.

I know which one you're talking about. They have a thinner liquid Tylenol that is red instead of the thick purple kind. I would ask if they can switch for you! Best of luck, I'm sorry you're miserable!

    Protein post op.

It is a rare person who can get all 60-80g of protein 1-5 days post op.

I would say concentrate really hard on staying hydrated first and foremost. Your tummy is swollen and healing. Holding too much of anything down will bring it right back up. The few days after surgery I was sipping Water an ounce every 15 minutes with a sporadic ounce or two of Protein Shake. I premeasured 2 ounce container with protein shake. I started with Premier Protein shakes but switched to muscle milk (the one with 40g protein) because it is a bit thinner. I am now back to premier because I think it tastes better.

Most of all, don't beat yourself up about not getting enough right now. Not everybody can at first but always keep trying. By 2 weeks out I could finally drink 3-4 ounces of shake at a time. Now at 6 weeks out I can drink a whole shake in about 30 minutes. Concentrate on staying hydrated and healing.

Be easy on yourself and your new, sensitive, healing tummy. Pretty soon it will become your most valuable tool to life long health. Enjoy the experience!!!

    Take care
