That is hilarious (and sad of course!). If this is a contest for the worst boobs, I am definitely in the running! One of mine is twice as big and the other (and it bows to the king) and the other is more pert and facing a bit straighter out. Who;s gonna love these lopsided boobs?! And I know there is more to come because I havent really lost that much weight yet in the grand scheme of things. I will wait and see what tomorrow brings but it aint gonna be pretty!

Finding_Stacy - you little vixen!! Have you lost FIFTY POUNDS almost??!! (yah yah I know preop diet blah blah) who gives a **** when the weight loss started!! The fact that it is happening is so freaking awesome. Sounds like you're doing great and I love how curious you always are and engaged. I havent' been on the site for a while. It was prom! (not mine ha ha). Very busy times but lovely. And I even felt better being in photos than I have in a long long time. Especially beside my ex who only eats salmon and veggies and exercises CONSTANTLY. (he was a big reason I rebelled and gained so much weight because he would always judge me and ask if I exercised or went to weight watchers). What an arse. This surgery is designed for me to loose the shame I felt and teh anger. Whoops! didn't mean to get so deep. Funny how that happens. Hope you are dong well. Send me some news!

    Congratulations and welcome!

I'm curious. What brand of shakes are you using? For instance, the Premier Protein shakes have 30 grams of protein per shake. Are you not finishing even one shake a day? Have you tried eggs or chicken yet? Does that hurt your stomach too? I'm just trying to figure out how you can get more protein in, because your body and skin needs that, and Water, for proper healing and shrinking.

You can always get the unflavored Protein Powder to add to your yogurts. I feel like anymore I survive on chicken breasts. I sometimes eat my oikos triple zero vanilla yogurt, but really do eat my protein first, then that other stuff. Either way, it's hard meeting these protein goals some days.

For me, I got my period the night I came home from the hospital, so I was bloated and gassy anyway.

I got my sleeve on April 27th and I know I'm a little late to the conversation. I haven't told many people, so it's really nice to find this community. It would be really nice to talk with people who are going through the same thing.

At first but that's because they put some garlic ranch as well.
We got a Betty crocker home made pizza maker (thank you Redflagdeals) and been making home made pizzas among all three of us. So delish.

The restriction is best utilized with slow digesting food.. like foods rife with Protein and protein+dietary Fiber.
The workaround regarding carbs and restriction not only comes from how quickly carb laden food tends to pass through the digestive tract (it doesn't take much effort for the body to digest/break down), but how quickly it enters the bloodstream (especially bad for diabetics), how quickly it hits the liver, and moreover, how it bypasses the fundus hormone ghrelin. The reason for the latter is because carb laden food often affects the brains reward pathway, causing secretions of hormones that cause physiological and psychological reliance. So not only is it not keeping a person satiated (which causes a person to eat more), it's slowly causing addiction that's tough to overcome.
I still think certain carbs like sugar should be classified as a psychoactive drug.

    Depends.
There are carbs that provide "volume" in the pouch, e. g. non-watery fruit like bananas, bread, Pasta, pizza etc. - you should feel the restriction with these.
When it comes to "low-volume" or more or less liquid carbs, e. g. chocolate, ice cream, Cookies etc. - you can eat quite a lot of calories and you won't feel that full.

Im starting to notice the boobs are deflating and im only 6 days out.I am happy at the changes in my body and no matter what the scale reads I going to be happy that it didn't rise. If it rises, i will regroup and trace my steps back to what caused it. It's the climb like Miley Cyrus sings about.

I always say that I live in the wrong country only because my boobs don't salute the flag, they bow to a king.

I definitely feel your pain! I always tell my friends that your nipples shouldn't point to the ground, but mine definitely do too! LOL! I was a 40DDD before my sleeve, and now I am a 38D. They have deflated even more. Its ridiculous. I really don't want to have to have surgery, but I have considered it. I don't want implants though. I just want them to be lifted so they aren't looking down anymore. LOL!!

My boobs have disappeared! Before surgery I was a 40DD, I'm now a 34/36 C. Sadly the bulk of it is saggy stretched out skin. I can literally fold them into a cup it's so pathetic. I do plan to get implants someday. Bra shopping is a tear inducing experience. Nothing fits right. Too much skin and not enough firmness.

Thank you. I saw my surgeon last week and I was cleared for pretty much any food. The exceptions initially are tough meat and hard or crusty breads.
I think my surgeons philosophy is that you are very much restricted by the quantity you eat not the type of food. If your stomach has healed well, it can take pretty much any kind of food.

Hi Sleevers. Week 4 post sleeve update. I'm down another 4lbs. Total lost since sleeve op, 32lbs. Seems to be settling to 4lbs a week weight loss which is fine by me.
food - I know I keep bitching about this but I'm still head hungry and missing my larger portions. I'm hoping this will ease as I get used to smaller portions as time goes by.
I've been trying most regular foods this week without any real problems. Pasta check, fish check, Soups with a little veg check. Tried a little rice but that was tough as it just kinda got stuck going down. I'm mainly sticking with mashed potato with everything.
Drinking lots each day and about 800 calories.
Hope you're all doing good out there.

I love you Finding_Stacy! You are the voice of reason and always weigh in with your wisdom. Thanks for this great post about losing inches and cells filling with water! There is SO much going on at the metabolic and cellular level that can NEVER be measured or seen in pounds lost! You're the best! I vote you sleeve queen of 24/04 (and perhaps even the whole month of April). Hope you are doing well.

I do eat other cheese like cheddar. Provolone, Mexican queso and lots of others.
I just don't buy it often and it always goes bad before I can finish it.

I did modified Keto for almost a year before I had surgery. I lost 15 lbs initially then went off it when my father died. I utilized modified keto in the 6 months prior to surgery and lost 30lbs on my own.

I have been a low carber, Keto person off and on for about 16 years.
I would lose weight but plateau and I didn't understand stalls so I would quit. I also had a Portion Control issue. People in the keto community feel like you can eat without portion control as long as it is high fat.
Being sleeved helped me control my portions. In the beginning when I was healing I just followed a normal low carb diet.
Around 6 months when I was healed, I switched to keto. Personally I feel like if I didn't switch to Keto I would not have lost this much weight. I would have topped out at about 100 pounds lost and bounced around like most WLS people.
Just as importantly eating keto has allowed me to maintain my looks. I have lost 182 pounds and I look very young and healthy. I do not look sickly. My face looks amazing. Keto is great for women because the fat is great for your skin. If you look in keto groups the women that keto almost glow.
I am a strong advocate for Keto. If you can portion control you can lose a lot of weight on keto. If you can't portion control wls is a great option to help you with that. The sleeve has helped me with portion control and made making the right food choices easy.

Glad you're doing okay. It is hard to look through all the other stuff in life and focus on ourselves for a few weeks. Think it's super important though. Especially at the beginning. Hope you find some time.
Got cleared for moderate exercise and pretty much all foods yesterday with the exception of hard foods (like tough steak) so I'm feeling much better about the whole thing. Had some fish pie yesterday after my surgeon visit. The kind topped with mashed potatoes and cheese. I felt my first real restriction eating that and even though it was a tiny portion (maybe 5oz), I had to leave some on my plate. A first! Thank the lord. Thought I was going to be the first bariatric patient that didn't feel full! 😂
Still smoking free! Loving that 👍
Take care and try to find some "look after yourself" time x

    Hello Everyone !

I was sleeved on April 20, man I was so scared that day !

I have been doing well.. going through some sort of a stall, the weight lose didn't stop but it is going soooo slow that I decided to forget about the whole weighting thing ..
but now I have 2 main problems ! first: I don't feel like eating anything ! I force my self to have some yogurt and cheese or hummus, and today, my stomach doesn't like anything it just hurts and gets filled with gas .. I don't know if this might be related to the fact that I had my first period today ? did any of you had this with their periods ?

the second thing, since I don't even want to eat, I can barely have 24g of Protein in shakes .. any suggestions on how to make my self able to get more ?

you are all great ! this is like my safe house now ,, always comes here for comfort !

I'm doing okay but super distracted by life so I am not paying attention to my food except to say I cant eat much. That is such a bonus! I cant eat mindlessly because I'm stressed like I did for the last 79 years (or that's how it felt!). I would like to be better about taking my Vitamins and doing the program 'right' but I know that this is the long haul and I'm in. I do worry about not waiting long enough between drinking and eating and blah blah blah but this is a lifetime thing. Not a race. So its a mixed bag over here. But all in all mostly good!
