My Path to a Healthier Me
KassMiller replied to BellaItalia088's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't think they will I have Medicaid and feared they wouldn't approve it in time for my surgery. If you've done everything you've had to do to qualify then they would rather you get the surgery. So you can be healthier and cost them less in the long run. I just drank muscletech protein I got from sams club here. GNC has a lot of proteins as well. They recommended for me to have less than 200 calories, less than 5 sugars. Whatever you buy you can also use for protein pudding whenever you get to you full liquid portion of post op. I've noticed that every surgeons recommendations are different but it is a good way to supplement with something sweet (sugar free) and still get protein in. I'm here if you have any questions. I too am 28 granted I am 5'9 and was at 285 when I began my whole adventure back in November. I'm feeling better every day and that's what matters. HW: 285 SW: 255 CW: -

It's great to see this. Plus the fact of no skin removal which brings hope that it isn't always needed! HW: 285 SW: 255 CW: -

I am 28 (bday coming up so....technically 29) and just had my surgery on the 23rd of May. It's always nice to meet people who share similar things even if it is just striving to feel better In a ginormous amounts of ways. I plan to try and have a other baby some time after a year post op. Among other things of course which includes actually being able to hike in the Rockies without dying half way through the walk. Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

I know I am in this Same boat save i have a 5 year old but have been struggling since I she was 2. I'm going to be 29 this year and I had her at 23... I had my surgery on the 23rd of this month. Good luck with everything and as far as I've been reading through posts. As long as it's 12 months or later post op it's best but some have gotten pregnant right away and still managed to come out at the end alright. Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

Why are post-op diets so different?!
KassMiller replied to celeniavsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to go to a 6 week class on diet and such. Before even able to see the surgeon. And the classes were led by a dietitian. I had a week clears started a full liquid yesterday (which does include pudding and mashed potatoes and cream soups) the after a week I start soft and moist for 3 weeks then on 7th week post op it's solid food from there on out. At 6 months I can start adding in salads and raw veggies. Til then the have to be cooked some how. Every program is different. Not told no carbs but they do say rice, bread and a few others expand in stomach and can cause pain but this was taught for both surgeries and the diet is the same for both. I had rny instead of the sleeve. Good luck everyone. And may you journey be a great one Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app -

I am very glad to hear that. I've compared pictures of myself and I see a bigger difference now then a year ago when I was attempting once again to get on the right track Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app
