  3. I had a VSG in 2013. Did well. I went from 271 to 180. After some depression [a man issue!], I got to 175 in 2021 :-). Now, due to some stress (when I graze), I'm up to 200 pounds. I've tried some of the GLP-1s, but what do you do for the constipation? i HATE being constipated. Grr. Thanks for any replies with advice.

  6. This is a reply to all on this thread. It's because of the very things you all say that I have decided not to have this done. I am so tired of fighting this weight issue in my life and right now, I jus don't think I have the mental fortitude to concentrate as much as this seems to require right now. I've got serious "diet fatigue." I don't know if I'll be able to handle all the restraint...even though God KNOWS that's exactly what I need. Being fat is just not fair :-) I think I'm just going to have my stomach "flap" cut off and also the upper inner thighs. But I'm allergic to pain :-)., so I don't know what the heck to do! I'm 53 years old, now 240 pounds (usually weigh ~ 200 and look good at that weight, believe it or not.) But this is beyond anything I recognize in the mirror. Depressed. Good luck to those of you who had the courage to go through with the Lapband. Hang in there.

Wow, 23 pounds in a week, or does that include your pre-surgery liquid phase? Still, that is WONDERFUL. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am contemplating having LBS (LapBand Surgery--too bad it abbreviates as "LBS"!), but I am not worried about the procedure itself (my would-be surgeon is the best, and teaches others how to do it). I'm worried about my psyche afterwards, because I feel much of my overeating is brain-induced. That my brain just doesn't cut off my appetite center and I'm going to be miserable craving [stuff] I can't have. Are you feeling any torment from that mentally? Again, congratulations. Hang in there.
  8. Dr. Titus Duncan is a lead surgeon in this field; based in ATL. Teaches other docs around the world. Also, I live in Roswell. We might be neighbors :-) I'm contemplating the LapBand. Have full confidence in Duncan; I'm just worried about the psychological aftermath. I LIKE eating. I LIKE drinking LOTS Of water. But psychologically, I'm now terribly depressed due to recent 40 pound weight gain, and I already needed to lose 40. I'm now 240 pounds. female.single. Not good.
  9. YOu post sounds like the concerns I have as I think about doing this Lapband. I'm scared--not of the surgery or not waking up. I'm scared about mental frustrations post-op re: not being able to eat. I actually LIKE eating a lot of food. But, that's what's jacked me up, so... The psychology of eating--does it change, or are you forced to just behave differently cuz you'll vomit your guts up!
  10. How's it going so far? How long ago did you have it and are you feeling like you are dying to eat but know if you do, you'll get sick, or what? Can you feel the port? Can you feel that you have a foreign substance inside you? Thanks.
