Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Wade, 5 kilos is still a good weight loss and it is still early days. I'll be picking the results from the scan up tomorrow as I have to take my mother for a scan on her reconstructed knee, so I may as well just make it one trip. I have an appt with my surgeon on Thursday. I'm hoping he just doesn't say "oh it'll be ok in time." I need it fixed although now is not really a good time but when is a good time?? Best wishes.

hernia surgery after lap-band
Hi heymybaby, I have just been confirmed having my 5th abdominal hernia. Not happy! The 4th & 5th were repaired during my rebanding in June '08. See the surgeon on Thursday. My abdominal wall is tissue thin after being cut so many times. My surgeon doesn't like using mesh because he says there are too many complications. Can't be much worse than 5 ruddy hernias! I empathise with you about the nightly vomiting. The reflux and blocked pain feeling is not much chop either. What I've found helps, is to actually empty the stomach completely, whether it's the natural vomiting or having to help it along. I can't get any relief until then. I also get a decent nights sleep with no reflux afterwards. I take Mersindol liquid and Nexium tablets for the reflux but a new GP told me that they won't help at all because it is a mechanical problem. What do you mean by "tweak the band?" I have also been having trouble going to the toilet = as in not going. After 7 days I finally went and for the week after that I dropped so much weight but haven't been again since. I've lost 68 3/4 lbs since June. Have the people at your work had the surgery themselves or is it just things they've heard? Best wishes.

lap band surgery with hernia in abdomen
Hi Sharon160, I've had, including this new one, 5 abdominal hernias. The last two were repaired during my rebanding in June. I've read every now and again on another thread about people having their reflux problems fixed by having their hernias repaired. My reflux has been awful since the last op. I'm finding it hard to understand how a hernia would cause the heatburn and reflux. I know it's the intestine breaking through the abdominal wall that causes a hernia and if it goes out and back in again it's sort of ok but if it gets stuck, then that's bad news. That's what I was told at my Cat Scan on Friday. I'd like to find out how it causes the rest of the problems. I see my surgeon on Thursday. Best wishes.

lap band surgery with hernia in abdomen
Hi normajean, Haven't been on this thread before. Your question caught my eye straight away. Yes, it can be repaired at the same time, athough instead of having keyhole surgery for the lapband, you are opened up. I have had several abdominal hernia operations over the past 3 years and the last was 9th June '8 when I was rebanded. Unfortunately It's just been confirmed that I have another one. Your recovery will be slower than with keyhole though. Best wishes.

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Everyone, Had the Cat Scan done today. Forgot that they use a chemical dye injected. I Hate needles. Won't know the results until Monday. Had a lovely piece of battered fish for dinner last night, really enjoyed it......but couldn't hang on to it. Tried the very last beer I had in my fridge the other night............Nope, like a rabid dog again, so it went in the chooks food. Happy little chooks. I'm down to 81.5 kilos now. A loss of 30.5 kilos since June 9th. 11.5 kilos to go to my goal weight. I'm hoping this hernia problem is not going to stuff things up for me. Hope everyone is doing well. Best wishes.

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Wade, Good to hear that you're going so well. Jealous as anything about the beer though. I only have to have a few sips and I start looking like a rabid dog foaming at the mouth. Lately I can't even have my bubbly with strawberries either. I work from home. Have a fancy dress business, so I'm on the go all the time. Also running Mum and Dad everywhere takes up a lot of time too. I've found that if I have a completely empty stomach, I do get quite a good sleep. Shame it's got to all come up though. I even made mushroom and beef Soup yesterday, pureed as well. It was delicious but I must've eaten too much as it all came up as usual. Has a small portion for lunch with lots of sips of Water afterwards and so far so good, no problems. Best wishes.

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi emmaf106, Yes it does!!! It has now been confirmed, however I had to go back to the GP and get a referral for a Cat Scan for Friday morning as the radiologist wants a more intensive look at what's happening in there. The intestine is coming out from the bottom of the scar (1cm from my belly button) inside that is, in the abdominal wall and pushing up to the right side of my midriff area. Horrible thought. The stomach muscles have had it too. Just what I wanted to hear..............NOT!! :grouphug: I see the surgeon next week. At least I'll have all the scans ready for him. Best wishes.

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Pigglet, I go for the confirmation scan at 9.15am this morning about the hernia but this is the 5th one and the doctor is certain anyway. I'll have to be opened up "again". Not looking forward to that!! I think it may have been forced through because of all the horrenous vomiting. Oh, by the way, the Mylanda didn't help at all last night, was up 6 times last night before my stomach was finally empty and could go to sleep. Don't know where it all comes from. Hope you are doing well. Hey Wade, How are you feeling? Best wishes to all.:grouphug:

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Pigglet, I'll add these to my shopping list and give them a go. It's all healthy stuff, so why not. :crying: Finally had success. The GP recommended Mylanta 3 times per day, plus anti nausea tablets but I really don't get nausea so I might give them a miss. Gotta go. :Dancing_biggrin:

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Wade, What is the blue book? I wasn't given nausea tablets. Wasn't given anything to take home with me at all. Taking Panamex now though. Hoping to get some sleep tonight as last night was horrible. Best wishes.

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Pigglet, Which one would you recommend to start with? Haven't been for just over a week and even then not good. What a lovely discussion eh!! Tried another jar of baby food for lunch today, not as bad as the others thank goodness. Kept it down until I had a coffee an hour later, then up it all came. I'm willing to try anything at the moment because the GPs advice about Coloxal with Senna hasn't worked. Are these things available from the Health Food Shops? Many thanks,

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi To Everyone, Forgot to tell you that I actually bought some jars of baby food thinking that might fix me up but "OH YUK" No thanks. The sweets weren't too bad but have only a tiny bit of flavour in them. Water seems to go down ok unless I gulp. Still trying to learn to drink before I'm thirsty. I would LOVE a beer.:tongue_smilie: Best wishes.

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hello Everyone, Thank you all for your concern and good wishes. I'm going to try to get an appointment with my GP this week and I also want a CT scan done on my abdomen because I have a solid cricket ball in my midriff on the right side. Could be another hernia (5th one) or could be a bowel obstruction, neither of which is good news. The reflux is ongoing and I sleep (when I can) propped up. Even coffee can have me feeling blocked. So sorry to hear about your brother Pigglet. I certainly will get it checked. My surgeon doesn't have a back up surgeon. I thought that was rather strange, found out when the wound opened up and let loose when I came home from hospital. I have a 24centinmetre scar down my abdomen. I had to go to my GP every day for 2 weeks for dressings and antibiotics. I really don't want to be opened up anymore. Still can't keep much down and don't seem to go at the other end either, even through I'm taking Coloxal with Senna. I'm now down to 84.5kilos. Hope you all are fighting fit and healthy. Have a great weekend. I'm going to sleep in till lunchtime. Yahoo!!!

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hiya Pigglet, I sure will, as soon as I get them. I was suffering so badly with gas etc last night that I saw an advert for "Reflux Cure" on one of the Lapbandtalk US threads and jumped in and bought it for $20.00 US. It is honey and cider vinegar with about 15 pages of unecessary printing of testamonials from so called other buyers. I tried it and was still up all ruddy night. I guess I was at a point that I'd grab anything for relief. Waste of money. Come in sucker! I'm still interested in the food combinations though, especially as it's worked so well for the lady at IGA. My scales told me that I've lost another 1/2 kilo this morning, = 85kgs. No wonder, can't keep anything down. If it doesn't come up after dinner, it sure will as soon as I get up in the morning, if not both. Sorry, on a bit of a downer because of the discomfort lately. I'll try to be more positive.

Any June 2008 Bandsters?
How awful to have those problems when you were on holidays. I find it really strange that after all the years banding has been done that GPs still don't know much at all about it. How on earth can they refer patients without knowing something!! My GP admited that he knows nothing about it either. He's not the one I was refered by but I still would feel better if he had some idea about it when I needed help and can't see the surgeon. I've been having bad, bad, reflux and gas= heavy, loud, painful burps that go on and on as well as throwing up everyday. Rang surgeon this morning to try to put forward my appt (29th) but he's operating in Karatha so I'll just have to suffer it out. Not very nice.

Hi Everyone, Has anyone heard from Wade? I've been sending him good vibes all the time, especially the day of his op, as I'm sure you all have been too. How is everyone going? Best wishes to all.- Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi emmaf106, Great to hear of your successful weight loss. How much have you to lose now? Any problems since your operation?- Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Best wishes Wade. Look forward to hearing from you.- Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Wade, Fantastic news! Very pleased for you and understand exactly how you're feeling. Who is your doctor? Which hospital? The doctor would've explained that it's all keyhole surgery etc. I had to be opened right up because I had two abdominal hernias to be repaired which turned out to be one big one but I'm fine now and I never thought I'd ever fit into some of the clothes I'm wearing again but I am. Best wishes. You'll really notice the difference in no time.- Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Pigglet, Sorry to hear of your setback after the fill. I have to admit mine was due to eating more than I should've but I'm surprised it didn't come back up as usual. I'll have to try harder today and also cut out the soft drink as they might be the real culprits.- Any June 2008 Bandsters?
Hi Pigglet, Let me know if it works please. How have you been since your fill? Any problems? I'm still having gas pains a lot which is uncomfortable and down right annoying. I actually put on a kilo yesterday, don't understand how, when most everything comes back up. My clothes need downsizing though which is good. - Any June 2008 Bandsters?
