  1. I am being banded on the 10th and I am like you starting to get a little more nervous as the date gets closer but one thing I do to relax and calm myself is come to this site and read and read and read. I also have been praying and thinking positive thoughts. You will do great. I think it is normal to be nervous.
  2. Glad to hear things went so well. I agree that when you have to wait for things like that it just makes your nerves go crazy!
  3. I am on my preop diet and am counting down the days. I get banded on June 10th up to this point I was not really nervous and just somewhat excited but now I am getting butterflies from being nervous and excited. How is everyone else feeling?
  4. I have not been banded yet but that is the toughest time for me too. I am on Day 4 of my liquid diet and I am fine until I sit down to watch TV at about 9 or so. I know this is just a bad habit that I have developed and it is just a behavior I have to change.
  5. I am so glad to get some pointers on how to make things taste better! This is day 3 for me on the preop diet of Optifast. The first day the shakes were horrible...but funny how on Day 3 they aren't nearly as bad. I can drink them now. The bars are ok and taste better if I put them in the refridgerator for a little bit. I haven't tried the soup yet. I haven't really been hungry though and I am grateful for that.
  6. I am glad to know that is normal. Today is my third day on the liquid diet and I have lost 5 pounds! I figured it was water weight but hey I will take anything!!
  7. Jules, My preop diet consist of 7 Optifast products a day. But yesterday I couldn't do 7. I had 3 of the "shakes" and one bar. I didn't cheat at all so that is a milestone in itself...but the shakes are definitely an acquired taste!!! But I will have to say I woke up starving this morning so hopefully the shake will be delicious The after taste is what gets me. My sister (who is like a size 4) assures me that it will get better and it will be worth it! She is a great support!!!! Have a great day and keep in touch!
  8. Ebeth, I am being banded on June 10th by Dr. Haughnn too!!! I started the optifast today...Let's keep in touch. I have my last preop appt. on June 6th.
  9. You will do just fine. I also have to do the two weeks before and the two weeks after but I am only going to take one day at a time. I am not very worried about the two weeks after surgery...yet...atleast I hope for the first few days I won't really feel hungry so I hope that helps me...
  10. I have to do the preop diet for two weeks. Bless your heart for having to do it for six weeks. But it will all be worth it.
  11. Congratulations!!! I am so excited for you!!! Let us know how it goes!
  12. Wishing you the best for your surgery. Today is day 1 of my liquid diet. I have to drink the Optifast shakes...and well...let's hope they start to taste better the hungrier I get. But I have vowed to myself that this is not a choice. I must follow the preop diet no matter what!
  13. Jules, We are being banded the same day. :thumbup:I also start my preop diet on Monday also. I can have any combination of the Optifast Soups, bars, or shakes totallying 7 a day. What does your preop diet consist of?
  14. Hi all. I am from Kentucky. I am a teacher. I have been teaching Elementary school for 10 years. I have three beautiful children; a 15 year old son and boy/girl twins that are six. I have seen my mom's health go down hill for years due to her morbid obesity and I have always had trouble with my weight. My mom is 60 and has been on disability for about 12 years due to her obesity. I just don't want that to be me.
  15. That is one of the main things I was wondering about...having to walk all bent over...lol Thanks so much!!!
  16. Glad you are feeling good and glad to hear about your surgery. It is always good to hear that things went well. I will be banded in about three weeks and I hope my surgery goes as well as yours!
  17. THanks so much for all of your input. It puts my mind at ease to know that it is not even comparable. June 10th is the date!!!
  18. I know this may seem a little silly but I guess I am concerned about the amount of pain or discomfort to expect. I was wondering if someone could compare the pain to the pain of having a C section? I have had 2 C sections so I know what that feels like. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide. :confused2:
  19. I finally got my surgery date also! I am also a teacher. I teach 4th grade and love it. I am so excited to finally have an official date!
  20. I did 6 visits in 6 months. They weren't that exact to make me wait till the full month passed.
  21. Congratulations! Let us know how things go when you feel up to it.
  22. Congrats! It will be here before you know it!
  23. I feel your pain. I am a teacher too. It is hard to resist all those goodies, but keep your eye on the prize!
  24. That is great!!! I am approved and meet the surgeon on Monday. Hope to get my surgery date then!
