Well I have to stop losing weight WTH!
I agree with the wearing of heavy pants and filling your pockets. I have even heard of people putting a roll of quarters in each pocket!

first post
I have only had the band since June 10th but one of the things that I think is something that is very important is to mentally prepare yourself for the post-op diet for the first few weeks after surgery. Commit to yourself that you follow your doctor's orders so that you can heal properly from the surgery.

i realized something today
I have found that the protein water is great! It really does help when I want to snack. It takes the edge off I guess lol

Zumba-How long after surgery?
I love ZUMBA too!! It took me a while to get down some of the moves LOL...I haven't started back with Zumba yet but I feel pretty confident that I could do it next week. I have been walking each evening and getting in about 8,000-9,000 steps...working back up to my 10,000.

Post op portion size

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
It is finally my turn to post my experience. :frown: I arrived at the hospital at about 12:30 yesterday. I checked in and was immediately taken back to get into my gown and get my IV started. I was supposed to be taken to surgery at 2:45 but at 3:30 the surgeon came by to tell me that it would just be a few more minutes. The next thing I know I was being wheeled down the hall to the OR. There I met the anesthesiologist and he explained what he was going to do. He told me he was giving me some sleepy medicine and as hard as I tried to keep my eyes open...I couldn't  The surgery lasted about 40 minutes and I was in recovery. It went extremely well. Once I was in my room, I was still very sleepy. I would doze on and off for the next few hours. Finally I got up to sit in the chair, walk and use the restroom. I have to admit that surprisingly I have not had ANY pain or ANY gas pain. I am a bit tender in the stomach area but that is it. I have not had any pain medicine at all. The doctor gave me a prescription for Lortab but I don't think I am going to get it filled. I haven't needed it so far. I came home today around 2 (my sister brought me home from the hospital) and at 5, I was taking my son to his t-ball game. I did fine. I have to say that the soreness feels a lot better when I walk. If I sit for a while I get a little stiff.

surgery tomorrow
I am June 10th also. It is the wee hours of the morning...can't sleep, a little anxious, nervous etc. I guess. I am dying of thirst but can't have anything to drink since it is after midnight and I don't even have to be at the hospital until 12:30! Well, I will be thinking of you all! I am so ready to begin this journey!

Magnesium Citrate YUM :(
Well...I took it and am still waiting. It wasn't bad at first but that aftertaste is NASTY!

Magnesium Citrate YUM :(
Just a question...I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow afternoon at 2:45. I have to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate sometime today. I was wondering if it would be too late to drink it about 8 or 9 pm tonight? :confused2: I am a night owl and will probably be up until 12 or 1 so I am not really worried about it keeping me up all night but it might. I doubt I will actually sleep much tonight anyway... Any of you all that have already had to drink this, I would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance

Just put that behind you because there is nothing you can do about what has already happened. Be very disciplined for the next few days until your surgery. Exercise too.

My Surgeon Gave Me a Gold Star for the Week! LOL!
Sorry to hear that today hasn't been that great for you! Hang in there. Have you been taking any prescription pain meds or just over the counter like Tylenol? What is giving you the most problem, the soreness or the gas or both?

Getting banded June 10th!!
Anyone getting nervous? I am nervous and excited. Ready for it to be over with. I was supposed to have my last preop appt. today but it had to be rescheduled to tomorrow (yep a Saturday!) I was surprised at that. I am scared I haven't lost enough on my preop diet. I have lost about 6 or 7 pounds. Hopefully that is enough. My BMI is 43 so I just pray that my liver is not too large! But overall since November I have lost about 25 lbs.

Who's getting banded in June
I also had to lose 5% of my weight. I had six months to do it and did it in 5. It wasn't easy. My doctor didn't give me any kind of specific diet to follow so I just did a slimfast for breakfast and lunch and then a lite dinner most days. I did fall of the wagon sometimes but overall I kept to the same routine. Good Luck!
