Hello Newbie, I was more than 100 pounds overweight before I was banded. My starting weight was 354 and I am currently at 304. Was banded this past March. I have no regrets only I wish I could have done it sooner. I have a very long way to go and the process seems to be slow, but I didn't gain it all at once. I think its better to lose the weight slowly anyway. For me gastric by pass was just to risky to many complications could occur so I chose the lapband. The surgery went very well I did not have alot of pain but I was sore. I have not had any complications at all. My Dr. was very helpful so ask a lot of questions if you are considering the surgery. With my first fill I could not tell the difference. My Dr. filled me with 3cc's, I just had my second fill with another 3cc's about two weeks ago and I can tell I have restrction. My lapband was done March 14, 08 and I have lost a total of Forty pounds. Starting weight was 354 pounds and I am at 314. Don't get discouraged it is a slow process but truly worth it. My first fill wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. So far I have had no problems at all since surgery. I just wish I could have had surgery before. I feel better and the weight loss is helping take pressure off of my back. I hope you do well and good luck to you on your journey.

My surgery date was 3-14-08 starting weight was 354. I am currently down to 324 (Praise The Lord). Had my first fill today and am back on liquids for three days, then soft food for three days, and then back to regular food. I was wondering if anyone else fills bloated at times with the lap band. I hear my stomach making noises and wondered if this was common with lap band patients...

Banded on March 14,08 starting wieght 354 down to 330 having a hard time wanting to eat at night especially.
