How do you know when you're full?

It took me a few weeks to realize when I was full, I would suggest to make sure you eat slowly and try not to be distracted when you're eating. (I.e. TV, cell phone). I think once your body figures out how it feels when you're full, it will be easier to gauge how much you can eat. I'm still trying to figure out portion sizes, because my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach! I also feel guilty leaving a tiny bit left on my plate - but I have too because physically I become unable to eat one more bite. I always try to remember, a lifetime of bad habits can't be changed overnight - it takes time.
  2. My husband and I both had the sleeve surgery exactly one month apart - I'm 6 weeks out and can eat up to 1200 calories but get full fast and still nothing truly solid. He's only 2 weeks out and can eat just as much as me, if not more and progressing faster than I did. We're both losing, but of course he's losing much faster than me. At his follow up yesterday I asked the doctor why my husband can fit more in than I could at his point and the doctor responded "everyone is different, there's no exact science - you just have to listen to your body and figure out what works best for you". Congratulations on your decision and good luck on your journey.
  3. Is it normal to experience swelling after the initial swelling has subsided? Today marks my 5 week mark and last night/this morning I noticed swelling in my upper right abdomen. It's also very warm - I don't have a fever or nausea or vomiting though. I did email my doctor but I'm slightly concerned.

    Terible pain when eating

Is it pain with every bite or after a few? It took me a while to realize that the pain meant I was full and should stop even though I had one or two bites left. It's definitely a learning process and a big change to have to "listen" to what your body is trying to tell you.

    First weigh in

Thank you both. Yes, the energy thing is crazy - I feel like I have a ton but get worn out quick. I finally got my work release after 3 weeks, but with a restricted schedule as well. Congrats & Good luck to both of you on your journeys

    Frozen Yogurt?!?

@BigViffer, I'm new to this but I thought you weren't supposed to get "dumping syndrome" with the sleeve? @KiKi27, I love the HALOTOP ice cream, low calorie, high protein, low sugar - satisfies my sweet cravings. Of course I don't eat the whole pint though?!
  8. Hello everyone, I had my sleeve on March 2nd. Was floored at my first weigh in today - 21 pounds since the surgery! I am so excited - definitely made these last two weeks worth the effort. I am also feeling great! Asked my doctor to release me back to work early but he still feels I should get some more rest if I'm able? For those just getting it done, push through any pain and regret - I know I'm still new too, but I promise you it gets better! Hope everyone else is doing as well.
