May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
I do when I am home, but I don't carry one around with me. Like today at my daughters house I just guessed. I am getting pretty good at judging portions because I have been weighing for the past 7 weeks.. lol... however, that doesn't stop me from eating the 4oz of food too fast. I find if I eat too fast I will have to stop at 2-2.5 oz, but if I chew slowly and take 20 minutes to eat I can usually eat the whole 4oz. what I have started doing is put my fork down in between bites. I am forcing myself to go slow. I am getting better.

Your mom's faith is inspiring. I can only pray that if I am ever faced with a life threatening illness I will be able to be at peace as she is.

Coffee after gastric sleeve
I was allowed to resume regular coffee 3 weeks post-op. I love dark roasts and cold brewed. I drink on average 3 cups a day during the week and 4 on the weekends.

We made it home from D.C. About an hour ago. Thankfully the traffic wasn't too bad?. My son was supposed to be stopping by and letting our dog out twice a day, but it was obvious he did not make it this morning...lol.. we are going to our daughters house tomorrow for a barbecue so that should be fun. I will make deviled eggs and bring some chicken for the grill. I am amazed at how back to normal I feel at 7 weeks post-op? Anybody else feel the same way? I eat less, am making healthy choices, and exercising, but I don't feel like I had major surgery. I actually feel like I have more energy now? I hope everyone has a great 4th ???

I think that is awesome! The only thing missing from my morning runs is someone to join me. For me being able to do the exercise is so motivating. In the past I would have been so out of breath after only half a minute of running. Maybe you will gain a new friend along with increasing your fitness!!

Are You Still Seeing Your NUT?
You can do this in the microwave also with parchment paper. They are good, but don't make too many because they are filling.

When did y'all have your first bowel movement after surgery??
I was 9 days before Inreally had a decent BM, if you know what i mean. I had to take a mild laxative to get things rolling. Miralax did nothing for me. I recently started taking probiotics on the advice of @Newme17 and that has really helped to keep me regular.

Suture reaction? Infected incisions... Pics
None of that looks normal to me at all. Glad you are calling your doctor.

@Newme17 you are correct in your description of the Peruvian culture. My husbands grandmother spoke Quechua and it is obvious in the way his family looks that they have a strong native Incan influence in their genetics. Other Peruvians may have a stronger Spanish influence, but many are very mixed. My dh speaks Spanish and English, but he can still remember his grandmother speaking the old native Quechua language. Food is an important part of the culture. My dh has always told me that in the USA we don't know how to have a party or celebrate. He remembers celebrations that would last 2-3 days and it would be the whole street with so much food, music, and dance. I could listen to his stories about growing up in Peru all day long as I find it very interesting. I am off to have my run and then pack up and head home. I am praying the traffic isn't too bad. Have a good day everyone ?

Crackers were a regular snack for me in the past. I love any kind of cheese on any kind of cracker lol. I will not be eating any crackers any time soon.

I pray your mom is healed from her cancer. I will add her to the prayer list at my church. I think it is awesome that she is thinking about the sleeve surgery. It sounds like you have had a busy weekend!! It is good that you were able to catch up on some rest. Sometimes a long nap is just what our bodies need. I have had such a great weekend. Spending time with my husbands family has been fun. We went to a Peruvian restaurant tonight and the food was great.

I added ground turkey to mine the last time I made it. It was delicious. I am thinking about trying it with thinly sliced zucchini and layering it like lasagna. I might sub in some Italian sausage also. I am still taking an OTC acid blocker because I am chicken to go without it yet.

Is something wrong with me?
This has been my experience also. I have only had one time where I drank my protein shake a little too fast and ended up with some cramps. It has been smooth sailing for me.

I had my first fast food today since post-op. I ordered the pico-guac grilled chicken sandwich at McDonald's in the Air and Space Museum. I didn't eat the bun and was only able to eat half. I think I made a healthy choice. I rarely eat fast food so I wasn't at all familiar with what to order. I am finding that it is pretty easy to find things to order no matter where we eat. We are doing some serious walking And it is super hot and humid so hydration has been my main focus. We ended up getting a Uber back to our hotel because it was just so oppressively humid this afternoon. I am hoping to get up early and do my morning run on the mall by the capital building and the monument.

Numbness?
I had the same numb sensation near one of my incisions. It is back to normal now almost 7 weeks post-op.

Mrs Alice Haddad
I use lemons and limes in my cooking and haven't had a problem.

Sleeping after surgery
Sometimes it helps to use a body pillow. I was able to sleep on my side about day 3 post-op using a pillow.

Sounds like you have a great day planned. We are headed to D.C. In a few hours. Have a great weekend!!!

I don't know what to do
I can certainly relate to how you are feeling Joan. I didn't realize how much time I spent pre surgery eating. There have been days I just didn't know what to do with myself. We are learning so much about ourselves now that we just took for granted before. I have started running and this is giving me something else to focus on. Maybe a new hobby would help?

Yes it is? I am happy for you too @Newme17. I had to buy some new bras. The old ones were just not working anymore. I was shocked at how expensive good bras are??? I have earned my first two blisters this morning? I need to buy some socks that have tabs that will protect the back of my ankles. You know what is great? The scale is moving up since I started running and I don't even care. I am getting fit and I know it will start moving down again once my body adjusts.

Coffee?
I waited 3 weeks to have a regular coffee. I drank decaf on day 3. I drink 3 cups a day now with zero issues.

Thank you @Newme17. I am planning on signing up for a race this Fall sometime. My goal right now is just to complete the race and not walk...lol I am just amazed at the things I am doing now that just a short time ago I would never have dreamed of. ? I am going to stop and try on some shoes tonight. I had plantar fasciitis in both of my feet a few years ago so I amnot going to risk it. I was trying on some of my old clothes last night and I am only a few pounds or inches away from wearing many tops that are a size large!! It has been so many years since there hasn't been an X in front of my shirt size.
