  1. Well, all the status posts on AM workouts had me in the mood to try my hand at it again. I believe this was the first time I've taken a morning walk as a post op. It went.. ok. I really loved it for the same reasons I liked it preop, but I didn't drink enough water before I headed out the door and came back home very dizzy. So I'm gonna try again tomorrow, but this time I'll make sure I'm better hydrated before going out.

  2. Major NSV: ordered a dress from Land's End in medium. Didn't realize I ordered petite. And it fit. A little shorter than I would normally use, but I felt really comfortable wearing it. Win!

  3. 14 pounds down on my Pre-Surgery lifestyle change! Surpassed the goal (thus far) by 2 pounds!

  4. Okay I need some tough love...I have lost a considerable amount of weight in 2 and a half months. I need to start firming up. I walk a lot however I really need motivation for excercising. I have a Pilates ball and skipping rope and even a rubber tension rope (you know for muscle and pec building) but can't get myself going. I HATE TO EXCERCISE !!!

    HELP !!!!!!:57_cry:

  5. Hi. The sleeve usually has a two year success rate. The RNY a ten year sucess rate. I did the divided RNY. for maximum weightloss. It causes malabsorption. With the sleeve you domt have to take the vitamins like in the RNY be ause they are just cutting off your stomach and leaving a bananna size one but still has proper functions.

  6. So I decided last night I was going to go to the gym this morning and do an upper body workout with the weight machines. My husband looks at me like I am crazy..lol.. he knows how much I hate the gym. He said, you do realize even though you are going before work it will still be packed in there. I said I know, I am trying to get over my dislike of working out in a crowed gym.

Well I tried. I did not like it. I don't know why I thought it would be different. I felt so awkward using the machines and I was never able to really focus or get in a good grove. I am just going to stick to doing my own workouts at home on days I am not running. I can do push ups, squats, sit ups, ect.. Maybe it would feel better if I had a friend to go with me, but I don't, so I am not going back.

      Thank you @Meryline.

I just ordered some resistance bands so I can work my upper body a little more at home in addition to the push ups, sit ups ect.

I love running and never thought I would, so there is always hope for the gym. I think for right now I am just going to focus on my running and workout at home. Once I get to the point where I can run a 5k and start really being able to get a good amount of miles in on a weekly basis, I will re-evaluate the gym.

  7. I pushed myself a little this morning on my run. I ran longer and walked less. I can feel the difference. It took me longer to recover at the end, but I added a half mile to my 30 minutes of run time. I feel like running is becoming an addiction for me and I need to tread carefully. I find myself thinking about my next run throughout the day and I am already researching my next pair of shoes. I guess there are many more worse activities that I could be doing, but there is still this little uneasiness as I feel myself changing on the inside as well as the outside.

I had several church members remark and compliment me on my weight loss yesterday at church. Nobody asked me how I was losing, probably because most of them know I have been following a  carb diet  since January. I still haven't gotten to a place where I feel comfortable talking about my surgery. Maybe someday in the future I will.

Tomorrow will be the 8th Monday since surgery. I am inching closer to a normal weight. I am simple overweight now and not obese. I can't remember how long it has been since I have been this weight (184.5), but it has been at least 9-10 years. I will be 49 in August and I am starting to believe I will reach my goal before I turn 50.

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

  8. Every time i walk home, i pee a little so I stop but walking makes pee a little again. I might be abnormal but i have to ask.

  9. Had quite an interesting day yesterday. Besides my shoes rebelling and deciding to be too big, a lot of other things are now too big. I was aware that my underwear was getting a bit big for me, but just forgot to pick up new pairs. This finally bit me.

So yesterday, my underwear fell while i was at work. And not, slide down my butt slightly, but like full on dived for the floor falling. They wanted to be free and only my thunder thighs stopped their descent. Thankfully it was end of day and i was walking to my car at the time, so all I had to do was keep my thighs close to stop them from falling into view of the bottom of my dress until i got into my car. Which was interesting since it was not only storming ( so i was wrestling with an umbrella) but i was juggling a bunch of bulky bags too. And seeing as I park not only in full view of the building, but my boss's office as well, I couldn't reach and pull them up. -_-.

  10. So I've been trying to wake up early and get my workouts in, only did it twice.  I can't seem to shake off my tiredness in the mornings!  I know if I kept it up, I'd make it into a habit and it'll get easier, but I don't know if I want to do that.  When I workout in the evenings, take my shower, I'm so ready to lay down and sleep.  I think I'll stick to my evenings.

Now, if I decided to stop working, then I'll do mornings...around 9 or 10.  LOL

  11. So I used to do Pilates and loved the feeling of being stretched and limber afterwards. I decided to do a quick Pilates video and the first move was to lay down on the floor on your back and pull up your legs at a 90 degree angle. Easy enough right? Not when it feels like your tailbone is sitting on top of a metal rod!!!! I couldn't lay down properly. So I tried the next move, lay on your side to lift your top leg up and forward. OUCH! It hurt my hip bone!!! Then I rolled over to the other side to check, felt the same. Am I destined to get my stretches one standing up? Hurts way too much to be laying on my bones, they feel bruised and/or like I said, laying on a metal rod. Anyone else have this happen to them? Maybe it's weight loss? Maybe it's my age? I don't know!

  14. What doctor (or qualified medical professional) makes his or her patient believe that he or she is going to have dramatic weight loss right off the bat and lose all his or her weight in a matter of weeks?  I sware, there is a poster that is shocked that he or she hasn't lost 30 pounds the first month almost every day.  It makes me wonder what some of these pre-op conversations are like, or if people just hear what they want to hear...

  16. Tomorrow I can eat scrambled eggs! I am really excited about this! I am also going to try to make a ricotta bake......even if I just get a bite of each down I would be a happy camper. I am also really proud--- today being Day 13 Post op--- I FINALLY got down two protein shakes! (60 grames protein) It is really hard - plus trying to get my water intake in as well. I have a very full feeling that has not gone away. Today was a good day, and  my 2nd day at work since surgery....feeling optimistic. My tummy is not hurting as much, I just wish I was back to sleeping normal. I am super tired and no caffeine until the end of the month...sheesh!

I am an Air Force brat too..lol.. that's how my family ended up in Delaware way back in the early 70's. My dad was a flight engineer on the old 141 planes.

Glad I am not the only one who can't do a regular push up ..lol.. I am going to work on it though. Girl Power 💪

  18. I'm usually not a cardio gal (even though I do cardio) but I'm digging in getting my cardio in with JUST DANCE. I haven't had a session yet without my girls in it.  They love to dance/workout too.  Even if I do a YouTube workout video, they're in it.  I want them to always remember the days that they worked out with me.  I did the same with my dad back in the 80's when he had an exercise class he taught.  That's where my love to exercise came from....I just pray and hope they don't let go when they get older as I did.

  19. So I've been playing around with my eating schedule and decided yesterday that I was going to increase my meals from 5x a day to 6x a day with smaller portions. I went from 4x a day to 5x a day a few weeks ago, and it went well, but I was wondering if it might be better for me to constantly be eating, even if it is smaller amounts.

Today's the first day I'm trying it out, and I'm noticing something very strange. Even though I'm eating smaller meals, today I'm feeling MORE restriction from my sleeve. I don't know what it is... Is there a "sweet spot" where if you eat past it your stomach goes numb? I know it usually takes me a long time to feel my restriction after I've eaten, about 45minutes or so.  Anyway, I've been eating every 2hrs and for the entire day today I've been feeling full.

It's weird. I'm coming up on 7weeks out and I'm still learning how my sleeve works.

Thank you @MSinger and @Newme17. Not hurting myself is one of the things I am keeping in front of my mind. The gym was on the Air Force Base and I don't think they have personal trainers. I am sure I was not using proper form on a couple of the machines mainly because I am tall and couldn't figure out how to adjust the height on the seat.

I am going to ask my dh to help me at home. He does all of these types of exercises for PT in the military so he can make sure I am doing them correctly.

Are you ladies able to do a regular push up? I have to do girl push ups so one of my goals is to be able to do at least 1 military style men's push up!

That's what I need @Newme17. Someone who knows their way around a gym and is comfortable, to go with me.

It is ok though, one step at a time. I am doing enough right now and maybe later on I'll try again, or maybe not..lol..

  22. Post OP- Day 12

So since my pre op meeting (June 5th) I am down 40 lbs. I have lost 14 lbs since my surgery June 28th. I saw my nutritionist this morning and she said I have to work to get in more protein. I have been getting better. They found during my surgery I had a hiatal hernia, which my doctor repaired. Sometimes I gasp for air as I have not been breathing for minutes. But I have been doing breathing treatments and it is much better. Yesterday I did over half a mile on the treadmill in under 14 min. That felt good, it felt good to sweat. I am so ready to get to the gym and hit the ground running. I know I have such a long road ahead of me but I am excited for the journey. For the first time I cooked dinner for my family last night and it felt soooo good. I had been removing myself from situations involving food.  My husband and son went to Mcdonalds and I just sat in the car and waited. I would get angry and I did not like that. Cooking for them gave me pleasure and I wasn't tempted at all surprisingly. I just tasted some sauce I made to make sure the flavors were on point and boom shacka lacka! Since my surgery I have lost a loved one and gained a niece, it has been such an emotional time for me but I know that God has a bigger plan for me. <3

  23. 16 weeks post op yesterday. 18 weeks since pre op diet. 70 lbs down. Unbelievable really

  25. Hey, I think I found where people are putting their status updates!  Lol.. (Only took about 6 months...)

Ok, so I'm 16 weeks post op today, and am 50% of the way to my conservative goal (42% of the way to my stretch goal).  I don't know if it's good, bad, or ugly.. but I feel great!
