    Exercise anyone?

    Congratulations!! I hope all is going well. I have been super bad at exercising and my goal is to start getting into a routine. I am 6 months post-op and I don't think I've exercised more than 8 hours total since surgery. I know, I'm terrible. I've lost 99.8lbs in the last year, 85 of those pounds since surgery. I definitely need to tone but I don't have a ton of super saggy skin which is great also. I'm about 20lbs from goal weight but my main focus now is toning for sure. I would say make sure to wait for approval from your doctor before exercising but try to get into a routine. No need to be a slacker like me!!
  2. I would say to ask your surgeon. I got approval to have coffee around 8 weeks post-op.
  3. Like someone posted, you've lost 8% of your body weight, that's amazing. I'm only 5 weeks post-op and have lost 22.8lbs since surgery. When I compare myself to others I get discouraged but I have to remind myself daily to stop comparing myself!! It's a daily struggle. I didn't take measurements to start but did at 3.5 weeks. Also, for the first month I lived in lularoe skirts and dresses so it was even harder to tell if I'd made any progress. People were telling me not to focus on the scale but to concentrate on how my clothes fit and I didn't want to listen. However...I'm totally convinced now. In the last week I have tried on clothes that haven't fit in 3.5 years or more! So take it from a skeptic, focus on how your clothes fit and if you haven't taken any measurements, do it now Addition - the surgery messes with your hormones and I too have been an emotional wreck some days. It does get easier. Just take it one day at a time!!

    I would say definitely call your surgeon. My first week was extremely painful. I ended up being put on a prescription for stomach spasms and that helped. I only took it for about a week and then I was fine. Everyone's post-op diet is different. My surgeon wanted me to get 40oz of liquid in before starting on protein and then 64oz of liquids and 50g of protein daily. The protein shakes were/are very harsh on my stomach and I had to stop drinking them. My surgeon recommended trying a shake using greek yogurt instead but even that doesn't sit well. So it's Isopure Protein water drinks for me. I am 5 weeks out and so far the only food that I can eat (that I like) is applesauce, raw nuts, and beans (refried beans or soups). I've tried fish and it sometimes goes down fine but it did hurt last week. I'm hoping it was just a fluke and maybe I ate too fast or didn't chew enough. I have tried chicken and turkey sausage but it's too heavy for me right now and hurts big time. So I'll wait a little longer. Call your surgeon about the pain though. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

    Saying hello

    I am 5 weeks post-op and I still don't have an appetite. Once I started eating foods (about 3 weeks ago) I started to get a little hungry around meal times but that seemed to only last about a week. Now I have to force myself to eat. I can't do the protein shakes, they don't agree with me. Instead I drink Isopure Protein Drinks (the protein water kind). There's 40g of protein and 160 calories in one 20oz bottle. They are very filmy (to me at least) so I have to water them down. I do about a 50/50 ratio of Isopure to water. I also have to force myself to drink too though. Some days I do really well and get in 50g of protein (what is recommended by my surgeon) but other days I struggle to get in 30g. The protein drinks and whey protein powders give me major stomach cramps so it makes it hard.

  10. My BMI is 40 as well and I have opted for the bypass because I also feel the long success rate will be a better option for me. I don't want to even consider the possibility of a revision and I think for me this is just the best option personally.

    Goal Weight?

    My surgeon's office uses a computer program that figures in age, height, gender, co-morbidities, and starting weight. My data gets compared to others of similar stats who are post-op to get an estimate of how much weight I'll most likely lose. I'm 5'8, 264 lbs and he estimates (based on data) that I will lost approx. 90lbs which would put me at my wedding day weight. My lowest adult weight was 155. 175 wouldn't be the end of the world but I do hope to get a bit lower. But who knows, I could be completely satisfied there.

    Or a June 2017 Facebook group? I feel like the groups out there are so diverse from those in pre-op to many, many years post op. I'd rather hear from people more in my timeframe. Or at least summer 2017.
