aquarious12585 got a reaction from browneyesdebra in April sleevers!?
Today is the day. Arrived in Mexico yesterday and noe getting ready to head over to ALO Bariatric. It still hasn't fully hit me yet. I decided to travel alone which is now starting to make me a little nervous in case something happens. Last night I made the mistake of reading some people's horror stories. Advice to all of you April sleevers...do not do that the night before! I started having regret about this decision. Questioned my choice. Started thinking about all the "fun" things i will not be able to do anymore. Like go to happy hour a drink 3 or 4 beers, enjoy a drink with food, eat till im stuffed. Wait...are those really fun things?! Then I remembered all of those failed diet attempts! I started thinking about new fun things that I've wanted to do but held back by my weight. Like kayaking, hiking the harder trails, going to social events, and so so much more!
So there it is...thats why I'm here. I'm going to get my life back! I'm going to be the best me that I can be! Best of luck to the rear of you! I can't wait to see all of your results. We need to create an April Sleevers tab in the post op forum:)

I'm day 2 post op and actually feeling pretty good I had my surgery on the 8th with Dr Lopez at ALO Bariatric in Tijuana. This place was amazing! I feel like I received more nurturing care than I would have in a busy hospital in the states.
I'm sore but the gas pain have not been as bad as a expected. I couldn't find the gas x strips so just got the chewables. I'm already learning the signs from my stomach if I take to large of a sip. Very thankful I'm able to drink and dip broth with no issues. I've read that many were not able to drink normal for awhile. My big take away so far from this experience is no one is the same. You can easily get freaked out by reading other's experiences. No way to tell what yours will be until you have the surgery. Hope the rest of the April Sleevers and everyone else are going great!
Last night here in Tijuana. I can't wait to be home tomorrow:)

So far the pain has been tolerable. I haven't had all the gas pain yet. Main thing is...im so hungry! Just did the leak test so should be getting broth soon. I've never been so excited for broth in my life lol. All the staff here has been so amazing and kind
    You will do great!

Thank you both for the support! I took your advice and have started crossing off the days as I go! 9 days left until surgery. I can do this!

You're strong; you didn't go out to lunch. Just remember--it's only 2 weeks out of your WHOLE LIFE for this pre-op diet. You'll do well. Congrats too!!! Have fun in Mexico!

Stay strong, it does get better! I am on my 4th day and the first three days were the worst. I was so hungry and had a massive headache. I also had to say no to one of my co-workers who always brings sweets to share with everyone. Usually I am the first one to take one and it took so much for me to say "No thanks" she even looked so shocked and asked if I was on a diet (I am not telling my co-workers I am getting weight loss surgery).
Day #4 and I am not even hungry - it took me forever to finish my Protein Shakes and was so full from all the Water and liquids I've had. You did great in staying back and avoiding temptation. That's exactly what I have been doing and it's working. Stay away from smelling or seeing anything that may be a trigger. It's only 2 weeks of struggle for a lifetime of a better you.
I have a calendar by my desk with the 14 days of my pre-op diet and every day before I go home I cross out another day and it feels soooo good.

Tell people you are low carbing. Not a lie and they don't have to know you had surgery to help with Portion Control.
People are really not as curious as people think. Most people think diet and exercise work.
Not telling people isn't lying or hiding under a rock. First of they are asking a rude question to begin with. Losing weight and health really are private things, just because we live in a society where people tell all their business on social media does not mean that is how people are forced to conduct their lives. Privacy is invaluable.
When you tell people your business you are inviting them to comment on it.
OP has already told enough people that I seriously doubt this secret stays a secret anyway. With that number of people knowing, someone is going to blab it.

Well I'm finally scheduled for April 8th in Tijuana Mexico at Alo with Dr. Lopez. I am so nervous it's not even funny. Never in my life would I have thought I'd be going to Mexico for surgery! After a battle with my insurance company I figured this was my best option. I can't put my health off any more.
Started my pre op diet today and my co workers all want to go out for Italian food! I don't think I'm ready to watch them enjoy their lunch while I eat a salad. So I've decided to stay back and stick to eating the healthy choice Soup that I brought. Already feeling the struggle and it's only day 1!

My surgery date was set for yesterday and I was denied again on Tues. So frustrating. My surgeon wants to appeal. I'm ready to just be done with all the BS here and head to Mexico. I'd actually pay less there then my out of pocket with insurance here!
