  1. Send it. And I agree with Ed_NW who said to mention you put this on social medical. It may or may not make a difference for you, but I'm telling you this as someone who worked in Healthcare my whole career life. I've worked in MD offices, hospitals, and Nursing homes, and Insurance companies. Unless your MD is private practice, he's got a boss. Medical groups HATE bad press. Don't edit out any of your feelings. Your letter sounds like it came from a real person. Just do it!

    Girls Do Poop

've never used this stuff so I wouldn't know how it works. Don't know if it actually removes the bad odor and replaces it with smell nice, or just attempts to mask it with smell nice like air fresher. I'd rather just smell ****. Not roses covered in ****. 🤷‍♀️

    Non scale victory

I think that's the fat brain at play. I haven't had surgery yet but in the past when I lost significant wait on my own I would look at clothes and swear they were too small for me. Yet when I put them on they would fit. I think we're just so used to being bigger and it takes a minute for our brain to realize the truth.

    Insurance question

I work for BCBSM so I'm a bit biased. I don't know what state you're in, but in Michigan, we get **** done! I switched from Molina to BCBSM before I even started working for them because Molina had crazy requirements at the time. Particularly in length of the supervised visits. Switch girl switch! You can always change insurance back later and get your PCP back if that doctor means that much to you. 6 months is half a year. That's more than enough time to wrap your head around everything.
  7. I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. Shouldn't your BMI have qualified you for a fast track or something? When are the insurance providers going to look at all the studies done on the efficacy of pre-op requirements? All the data and research says it's not necessary. Sure the nutritionist and psychiatrist are great but they shouldn't be gatekeepers, but guides during the whole journey.

I had my pre-op tests this morning!

So what you're saying is. You took a test to see how well you could swallow and It looked like your throat had a penis in it? So what's the problem? 😈

    Phys evaluation

I would say my experience was similar to everyone else's. 300 questions and an interview. Yada, yada. It went smoothly. Mostly because I told her what she wanted hear. yup. Sue me. Didn't work out that way for my friend. I guess she was more honest about herself because now the shrink is holding her back because of her "Anger issues". She's completed her 6-month requirements but the shrink won't ok the surgery. Pretty messed up. My friend is like "hell yeah I'm angry. I'm not even a quarter through my life expectancy, yet I feel like I'm 80, with aching limbs and a weak body" She feels her anger is what motivated her to begin this process in the first place. I feel so badly for her because she started this process months before me, yet I'll end up having the surgery before she does. Glad I didn't open my skull to that women. The only sleeve I'd see then is the sleeve of a straight jacket lol
  10. So I've gotten rid of pretty much all the food in my kitchen. What should I stock my pantry with? What healthy foods can't you live without?

    Michigan Medicaid

I switched from Molina because of the 12-month requirement to BCBS. I'm 2 months into my 6 months wait.

    Baby Food?

Ugh no way! I'm on WIC and I get many jars of meat for my baby. They all taste like how cat food smells. In fact I ended up giving them to my cats. They balked at first. Had to mix it up with dry cat food. I wouldn't even give it away. The rest went in my composter. Needless to say I won't be buying that ever again. Just make your own. It's so much better. Good luck, you've got this!

Great Job! You look so much healthier! Younger too!

    Rewards?

Same! My dream is to have huge dragon wings on my back. Also patches of scales in various places. I'll also get a ring with my family crest tattooed on my left ring finger. I dislike jewelry of all kinds. Except for fake piercings.
  15. My shrink didn't say anything of the sort! My Physical Therapist did mention 5000 steps, but only as a requirement, I've taken to heart. It's not mandatory for surgery at all. You should talk to the rest of your team about this.

    Resleeved

All I've read from vets here on this forum is that your stomach can't stretch the way we think it can. So a sleeve wouldn't need. I've read you can stretch the opening or exit (or something like that). They certainly can't stretch back to pre-surgery stomach. Whatever happens, believe in yourself, and love yourself (cheesy I know) you've got this! Goodluck!
  17. This. I love highly seasoned food. None or hardly any salt is needed if it's seasoned right! I'm starting my first ever garden and peppers are high on the list!
  18. Looks like it'll be really fun to make, I enjoying cooking as well. I'm looking forward to learning to cook healthier versions of my favorite foods, and chili is one of my tops!
  19. Please share that chili recipe!
  20. Hello fellow Michigander ^.^ How do you make your chili?
  21. How would knowing what I trashed make it easier for anyone to respond? I thought your reply was perfect! Those are just the types of ideas I need be inspired, thanks!
  22. So Thursday has come and gone but I'm here now ain't I? Don't roll your eyes, I can see you know -.- anyway....Last Tuesday I saw the Shrink. Nice lady, lousy session. Ok, ok it wasn't that bad honestly. I filled out a two long, yes, no, maybe, type questions. One paper, the other electronic. They reminded me of those test you do when applying for shitty jobs. You know the ones that ask if you've ever taken a pen, or how many farts do you produce a day and what color are they? Well unlike the job tests I decided to be 100% truthful with my responses. So yeah I've taken a pen or 6, and you can go tell Sheila in HR that I did it! I can't WAIT for my next appointment with the Shrink in a months time. She'll confirm I'm bat **** cray cray, but not enough to deny me surgery I'm sure. The following Wednesday was even more eventful. I saw both the Nutritionist and the Exercise coach. Those both went really well. Both ladies were judgment free and friendly. They didn't say anything I didn't already know from years of dieting and exercise but they said it well. I've gotten confirmation that no matter how much weight II'll lose between now and my surgery, they will still submit my first BMI of 41 to my insurance. Which for me is essential because I have no comorbidities, in fact, all my blood work came back perfect. Except for my calcium which was a little low. So besides from being MORBIDLY OBESE, I'm the picture of perfect health. That being said. Looking at the shape of my family, I'd give myself 10 years before everything starts going to hell. I think I have youth on my side, but once I'm 36 and decrepit I'll have wished I had the surgery 10 years ago. Since they are going to keep my 41 bmi I'm excited to start following their pre-surgery recommendations. My goal is to lose at LEAST 20lbs between now and surgery. I've got this!
  23. Oh snap, congrats! I hope my surgery will be in august as well. September at the latest. I found out my clinic will my 41 bmi to my insurance company no matter how much I lose before surgery. Now I'm excited and plan to lose at least 20lbs. Can't wait until we're ALL on the losers bench!
  24. Quick question. After my 6 months medical weight loss plan, will my insurance go by new bmi, or will they go with from my very first weight in at the start? Thnaks!
  25. I'm no expert at ALL. Take anything I say with a grain of rice. All I can think to say is don't try to "test" your tool. I'm saying this out loud for me as well. I feel like if I were in your situation I'd try testing to see just how much I could eat or something. That would surely lead me back to the dark side lol
