    Insurance Denials

Ha! low paid HS graduates. f**k whoever wrote that because this **** is false. lol HIPPA compliance officer, you'd be better of asking for a supervisor. Any "HiPPA compliant officer" won't know jack **** about your case. Their sole job is make everyone's life hell by making us sit through hours of boring meeting every with the same information repeated; "Don't tell patient's business or the government will fine us a **** tone of money!" That's it. That's is. That is the extent of their job. They don't deal with patients. They don't handle requests. They don't know anything about you or your surgery. As for the low paid HS bit. Don't confuse medical reviewers with customer service. There ain't no High School students reviewing a damn thing. Period. Nurses and Doctors only. I don't know who came up with this but it's a farce. Do however ride you're Insurance companies ass as if your life depends on it! Because it does! Don't take no for a answer if you can help it! Here is the a real tip and secrete. Medical policy isn't black and white. It's still the RN or the MDs sole discretion in most cases. Sometimes that first denial came from an a*****e, or a "by the book consultant". When you appeal your denial, it cannot go back to the same reviewer. Thereby increasing your chances of getting someone feeling more favorable. As for your appeal to be expedited! It most cases you only have up to 10 days of the denial to request this. Expedited appeals have to be completed with 72 hours because uncle same says so! When they ask you if your life would be in danger if the appeal isn't expedited say yes! Say you're in unbearable, unmanageable pain! I took this a bit personal but this is my career.

  4. I'm in love with Whey Protein Powder Isolate by BulkSupplements. I bought mine from amazon. I love this stuff. I mix it plain water and it taste like extremely watered down welfare milk power lol. You know, that farina your mom had in the pantry when you were a kid. Oh, and it mixes so freakin' easy! I put it in my cup, give it a hard stare and bam! 8 - 12 oz of protein at 122 calories, no sugars or fat and less than 1 carb.
  5. Agreed! When I was a little Sin I saw my Grandmother's pastor doing some pretty heavy kissing on one of the nurses. He was married of course. I'll never forget that. He was a fire and brimstone type of dude too. Always had something bad to say about women and how they dress, and their proper place in the world. What a great moral compass he was!

    EGS to Gastric sleeve

I can' t answer your question I'm sorry. I almost went for a endoscopic gastric sleeve. I was going to enter a clinical trial to help test its efficacy. I ended up turning the University down when my Insurance approved my appeal for the sleeve. Its truly seems like an Interesting procedure. I will says if your BMI is 35 or greater an you have a co-morbidity, Insurance may pay for it.

    New addiction instead of food???

It's not fun. I promise. I haven't even had surgery yet and and particular addition is destroying my life. It's all I ever think about now that I've completely overhauled my diet. In fact I've put myself on the Optifast plan. I have 4 - 5 cups of unflavored, unsweetened protein isolate miked with water. 1 meal for dinner. Only eat meat on the weekends. 800 calories a day, at least 108 grams of protien. Plus intermittent fasting 16/8. The weight is flying off. I don't know how much I weight now becuase I hid my scale, but all my clothes fit looser and I can definitely see the difference. My surgeon should be pleased. The only reason I'm successful is because I know I'm having this surgery in January. I'm convinced I've been visited in the middle of the night by the Barbaric Fairy and she took most of my stomach with her lol. I've even experienced dumping to day! I was fighting my urge to engage in a sexual act, right here at work! Sitting next to me was a gift bag of cookies my boss gave me. I ate about 5 nickerdoodles and a whole candy bar. It all came out of both ends. FML As least I feel so sick that I'm no longer have the "urge" but it always comes back. Always.

    Diarrhea Cha CHa CHAAA

That's my biggest reason as well for choosing sleeve over bypass. I have other reasons that aren't ground in logic, but it's my body and I'm the one that has to live in it. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Thanks for the update! I'm pre op and I lift but not effectively. I'm just using resistance bands with a bar, and an ab roller. I LOVE the roller. I can definitely see some results. Everywhere really. Hope to keep this up for life! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Tremelo was interesting. It's so refreshing to hear something unlike anything I've ever heard before. I've never even heard of the genre Trip Hop. Will have to see what else there is.

You're kind enough to help me in my hour of need, of course I'm going to listen to it. All genre are welcome. I was able to find it on Spotify. I liked this one as well. Most sings that talk about the love of a good women is OK with me!

I liked that one. She does this thing with her voice that's reminiscent of the late Dolores O'Riordan.

    Dr Submitted(pprwrk) as Urgent

You'll probably have an answer tomorrow if you call back. We don't like to leave urgent sitting at all. That's when the government auditors (CMS) starts really riding our asses. Their the reason we've got no more than 14 days to complete standard prior auths requests.

    Jan 2019 bypass buddies

I don't know if it's unusual or not but you could always call your doctor and ask. It's them, not the insurance company the sets the date. In fact, a MD can't even submit a prior auth request without including some kind of date. Even if it's tentative. It should take 15 days for the review. I'd my insurance Monday. and Wednesday if I were you. Not necessary but it stopped me from going crazy with what ifs lol.

    BCBSTX messed up

This is happens all the time unfortunately. I guarantee it was a software issue somewhere. It's what they get for trying to replace all our jobs with automation.
  22. Congrat Ed! I'm so freakin' Jelly! When do you start the liquid diet?

    Dr Submitted(pprwrk) as Urgent

I work for an Insurance. I work in a department that specifically handles prior authorizations and well as appeals. We don't drag our feet, even though it may seem like it. But boy do we get busy as all hell. Especially around this time of year. I don't know the rules for you particular insurance company but for mine when a member or provider requests an urgent prior auth we ask them a few questions first. Is the patient's life in jeopardy if they don't have whatever they are requesting done urgent? Can they go to the ER? If there life isn't on the line we then ask if they are in unbearable pain. If either one is a yes we process all urgent within 72 hours. Some stuff we have to process same day like chemo treatments and fertility procedures. We don't fight the provider or patient's usually. If they answer yes to the questions we take their word for it. So remember folks YOU CAN ASK YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER FOR YOUR CASE TO BE EXPEDITED. You DO NOT have to ask your provider. Just remember to answer those questions correctly. Again I don't know the rules for every company but in order to even get an urgent you also have to ask for it within 10 days of the case submission.

Don't worry, I'm sure you're surgeon will have done their heaviest drinking the night of the 31st. It's our brothers and sister having their surgeries on January 1st whom we must pray for lol.

    Surgery CANCELED!

My gut reaction so take that as I know squat diddly. Any info I can give you is purely anecdotal at best. It's just that even my surgeon that hernia are commen and they patch them up. But they could come back. Anyway id imagine it just depends on the comfort level of the surgeon. They are doing the cuttin and snippin. I'm sorry sis.
