I like that you said that because my weight loss has been really slow too it seems like I’m losing between 0.5 to 2 pounds a week. But it’s encouraging to hear you say “at least its not going up’ so hurray to that! You sound like you’re doing great, keep it up!

Hi. its me again! So I have now been on soft foods for 10 days. I am doing pretty well, I think. LOL. I have only gotten semi-nauseous once and it was on Black eye peas. I had eaten the same thing the day before with no issue. I think I might have just eaten too fast. I have eaten ALL kinds of things too. I'm not one that can eat the same things over and over. I end up wasting a bunch of food though because making a dish, even a small one, I can only eat it like two times and then its gone. I'm not gonna lie, I have snuck a little sugar here and there with no issue. When I say a little though, I mean a little. I have had one square of a Hershey bar...lol...and a tiny sliver of a pumpkin bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes my daughter bought. I've learned to like cottage cheese with sugar free whipped topping and sugar free Jello (strawberry is my fave) mixed together....my aunt calls it pink lady and its delicious. I've learned to like more yogurts because I cant eat eggs for Breakfast every day!
The weight loss is slow but it's not going up, so i'm okay with it. I lost 2 pounds last week. I am trying to walk outside a few days a week but I am still get tired very easy. I hope that goes away soon.

I saw my doctor yesterday and he said that is normal some people just stop losing weight at different stages, some sooner than others, but it kicks right back up.
I would follow all your advises as well as just concentrate on healing first. I’m gonna stay away from the scale for a few weeks.
I totally love the support I receive on the site thank you guys.

Thanks for this post. I am almost 3 weeks out and I haven't lost either. Saw my surgeon yesterday and he assured me that this happens a lot. But I did lose 47 pounds before the surgery so I was really confused. Anyway, he said that I have already physically changed and I have. It's weird. Anyway. I guess we just need to hang in there

Consider putting the scale away for a month or so. Your body is recovering from major surgery. If you focus on staying hydrated, sticking to the plan your doctor gave you and resting you will be absolutely fine. I should also say that I had a relatively low BMI when I had my surgery, but I lost weight quickly. Patience and persistence are your friends.

Stalls are a normal part of weight loss that just about everyone experiences (search this site for “three week stall” and you’ll see thousands of results). This won’t be the last time you stop seeing your scale move for a little while before starting up again.
in your case, though, I’m not sure I’d even call it a stall. This soon after WLS, you shouldn’t even be looking at the scale. Your body went through a lot during surgery and it has to adjust to the changes. While you were in the hospital, I’m sure they pumped you full of IV fluids, and that alone can cause weight gain. I actually weighed more at my one-week follow-up than I did right before surgery (my surgeon didn’t care — at that point, he was more interested in how I was healing from the surgery).
You should also be aware that since you’re starting at a relatively low BMI, your weight loss is likely to be slower than someone starting out 100 pounds higher than you, so don’t get discouraged by comparing your weight loss with anyone else’s. A lot of people only weigh themselves once a week so they don’t get freaked out by normal fluctuations or stalls, and you might want to consider that.

the dreaded three week stall - happens to almost all of us. Search this site for it - there are literally over 15,000 posts on it
just stick to your plan and stay off the scale if you have to. It usually lasts 1-2 weeks, and then you'll be on your way again

P.S. it's USUALLY the third week, but not always. Mine was weeks 2 & 3. My weight loss started up again during week four, and I dropped like 6-8 lbs in a couple of days.
  9. Congrats!

Just had mine done on the 14th. 54 year old male that has never been in hospital before and I can tell you that I was dreading it. Nervous was an understatement.
5 days on im wondering why I put myself through so much stress and sleepless nights!
I had excruciating pain the 1st day but by the 3rd day I have the odd twinge but nothing that I wasn't prepared for. I'm now pain free at day 5 and have been walking 3 or 4 miles each day.
My future is looking so optimistic now that I truly feel blessed.
I cannot believe the struggle I've had for the last 35 years is finally over.
I'm looking forward to wearing some of my smaller and now retro clothes lol
Stay positive as its all worth it in the end.
  10. Congrats!

Surgery was this morning (revision from sleeve to bypass for GERD). So far I am doing very well and much better than I did at this point after sleeve. I’m already walking the whole hallway and have passed my sips test, so am drinking Water and watered down apple juice. I am so happy I went through with this!

That’s great I’ve lost 15 pounds since preop diet. Unfortunately for me, It didn’t help shrink my liver. I was surprised to wake up with six incisions. Initially I was expecting the laparoscopic incision via the umbilical. I know I did not cheat, but he said my liver was unusually large. 🤷🏽‍♀️
but it’s done, hey welcome to the other side sleeve sista!

You’ll be okay-especially if you have been careful up until then! I just had mine done on 9/8 and I had a piece of homemade lemon cake as kind of my last hurrah! -And I was fine! Good luck!

If you have been good up to this point I don't think that 22g of carbs will do any lasting damage. Just keep on with your plan and you should be fine.

I have today and 4 more days to go on my liquid diet. This is no fun. LOL> I'm soooooo tired of sweet stuff. The broth is my only saving grace and the Popsicles to chew on. I can and will complete this though!! You are all doing great. Less then a week to a new beginning!

I cook for my family too and I have been on the liquid diet for about 5 days now. Best thing I can suggest is drink something while you are making food. it has kept my hands busy when I am tempted to taste test my food. The first 3 days are really the hardest and then day 4 was when the head hunger hit. Today has been so easy to manage. You can do it!

Hi I started my Clear Liquids only diet today, I’m finding it pretty difficult because I have to cook for my family. But all I need to do is think about being sent away with no surgery if my liver has not shrunk. That keeps me going. Although I’m not sure for how long Ha ha ha. Are you also doing liquids only for two weeks? I am reading hear that not everyone does the liquid only🤨. Why do I have to do clear liquids only? Lol
