Bobcats got a reaction from Frustr8 in Hormonal imbalances after surgery?
I’m 9 months out from my sleeve gastrectomy and 80 lbs down (20 from my goal.) I’ve had midcycle bleeding for the last seven days, which is quite abnormal for me. Pregnancy is not a factor and my cycles have always been regular.

I’m waiting to get in to see my doctor, but I was wondering if any of you have experience with this kind of problem? I know midcycle bleeds can be associated with hormonal imbalances, which can come as a result of rapid weight loss.

At my age, even before surgery and monsterous weight loss, my g elly looks baggy saggy and draggy. 3 nine pound babies, the slings and arrows of life, and my lower abdominal muscles are chanting "No,Mas No Mas". One day at the gym my trainer/PT told me " set your core before you do this" told him " some worm ate the core out of this old Apple" and he didn't find that the least bit humorous.
Wasn't going to let him pull the joy out of my life parade!📣

I wish I could say mine looked better....while it's definitely not what it once was, it's still a bit saggy....and it's frustrating. I work out a lot and I can see definition every where, but there is always a saggy belly where my 6 pack should be.....sigh....😕

At 44 and two plus years out my stomach IS getting better. I did the 100 situps per day challenge last month and that help speed things along. I also make sure I am hydrated with Water and apply lotion to the area and massage my fat at least every other day to break the fascia that adheres it.

Like another poster already said it really depends on age, genetics, how you carried your weight and self-care, so many variables to consider.

It makes sense, because my insurance company will pay for a Pani but only 24 months post op.

There’s no guarantee. It varies with age and genetics. At 50ish... mine required a Tummy Tuck. I can only recommend building up muscles.

I’m 36 and almost 8 months out at 80 lbs down. I’ve been reading about loose skin from WLS and saw one source that said it takes about 2 years for your skin to go back to “normal.” While I’m grateful for my tool and the weight loss, my wrinkled brown bag stomach looks sad and I’m not crazy about the turkey neck, either. Can anyone 2+ years out confirm if the skin ever tightens up?

Yes, expect it every month. I stop losing for a few days before my period, then most of the time I'm bleeding, then I'll have a big drop of several pounds. The body just retains Fluid. Don't let it mess with your head...

I can't help you with this because I was never regular and stopped having periods after my Hysto when I was 32YO. I'm now 61YO. LOL But I can say this...I have heard that our hormones are stored in our fat!!! So that might be what you are feeling. I'm sorry about all of this going on. Hopefully, it will all work out. if you are really concerned I would take it up with my Dr. they should be able to address this better than I can. Good Luck. GREAT weight loss!!! Congratulations!!

I am about 8 months out and my PMS is just crazy. I have depression and mood swings and nausea as well. I'm on the pill and have been the whole time, so I'm not sure if maybe I need a new Rx now that I'm down 114 pounds or what. But yeah it seems to be really common to have our hormones go totally out of whack after this surgery. My poor husband!
I will say it seems to have shifted over the whole time. I don't feel very sick anymore, but I do feel more depressed during that time. So maybe just monitor it and see your GYN in a few months if it doesn't ease up!

Bobcats got a reaction from zleng in pre-op diet is making me feel odd
My surgeon is having me complete a one week pre-op liquid diet that requires 70-80 grams of Protein and under 40 grams carbs, and one clear liquid day before surgery. I was given a food list that is composed of Soups, Protein Shakes, Jello and pudding -to name a few things.
I'm on day 2 and noticed I have an insane amount of energy and feel a little "stoned". I'm not really complaining about the energy, but am I going to crash soon? Could this be a result of ketosis? I have never eaten like this and have no idea what to expect.
