jkmen5 got a reaction from mrs_ross26 in SURGERY IS IN THE MORNING!!!
Thanks everyone! It is a difficult road after surgery. I have had so much gas pain. They finally gave me gas-x, which has helped tremendously! Trying to do my incentive spirometer has been another challenge! Hopefully going home today!

I was a wreck the night before surg-I dont think I slept at all.. I was so worried about pain and being confined to my bed but it hasnt been all that bad--its been two weeks and i havent taken meds in a week and a half. Its really not as bad as you think it is.

I'm terrified, happy, nervous, scared, excited... I broke down today at work when I was leaving and everyone was telling me goodbye. I'm going to be off of work for a month. I had been doing just fine and suddenly I got hit with waterworks! I'm not a big crier, although I am emotional, so it hit me off guard. I have been really quiet since I've been home. I really have to get my stuff packed and I'm just drained mentally.
I don't consider myself an anxious person. But man is it hitting me strong now!

I actually saw a therapist during my "transition" time. Your body is going through a major change. Don't be afraid to reach out for help.
Good luck to you.

Hi everyone. I had a complicated RNY experience in 9/2007. I lost a good amount of weight, then had a PTSD experience after employee related sexual encounter. My mind (and me) went into over drive and I have now regained 70 pounds. I have dealt with the ptsd and am ready to get back on track. I need guidance on where to start. My hospital closed, so no support group. I am overwhelmed with what to buy and forgiving myself for my regain.

Hey Brent!
Good for you for accepting the journey! I have not had surgery yet, I'm due to have mine done on March 16th. I can't really answer some your questions from a personal standpoint (because I'm a female) but I can say- my sister had the surgery done and our family saw a MAJOR improvement in her personality. She's so much more positive and holds conversations better than before, she has so much more self confidence as well. As far as the "man hood" rumor, there are some factual explanations to this (I work in the medical field). I dated a guy where we had no problems in this area and then we broke up, but got back together a year or two later. He had picked up quite a bit of weight in the interim & when the time came he was much smaller than I recalled. I asked one of the physicians I work with about it and it was explained to me that as the additional fatty tissue is added on the male can only erect so far past that. His "man hood" is always the same length, but depending on how much tissue is there only so much can be exposed. So once those fatty layers are gone.....you do the math!
Hope I have been of some help & good luck with ur journey!

I stop weighing in a month ago. The results are in the new sizes I wear and the difference in my before and progression pictures. I am not at my goal yet, but eventually I will get there. I feel better and over all health is better. I thank my doctors for the surgery because I had a real hard struggle with losing weight. There has been many bad days but the good has certainly outweighed the bad. Keep pushing and believe in what you want. SW 324 CW IDK but look at the pictures

It's not necessarily cancer, and if it is, colon cancer has very high survival rates- -greater than 90% at five years. No one can tell you what will happen (other than it'll almost certainly be surgically removed) because there are many things it could be. Wait for a diagnosis.
It's good you're finding it now before you have symptoms.
It's scary, but try to stay calm until you get a diagnosis. When my grandfather had colon cancer, the doctor told us that nearly all of his patients die of something else, years or decades after discovery. My grandfather died of COPD, completely unrelated and years later.

Oohhhh I almost forgot beautiful people!
You might wake up with a lot of gas pain! Picture a colic baby... yeah that's how bad!
My surgeon made me walk it out, took me 4 hours to recover. If you have a cool surgeon ask them for Gas-X. It works like a charm. If you can purchase this prior to surgery, do so. BUT! Consult with your doctor first, as results do vary from person to person.
