I was in the same boat until I basically followed a modified " 14-day pre-surgery diet". shake, shake and sensible dinner. I had v8, fruit or raw veggies w/hummus if I felt too hungry between meals. This helped me lose over 30lbs before surgery. Good luck, keep working at it!

I can sympathize. I had the same problem. My surgery was held up because my insurance didn't feel I put in enough time and energy into losing the weight. I was required to lose 10 lbs to show them I was serious. I took my time, I drank Protein Shakes, walked a bit more and kept going for weight checks until I got there. Don't give yourself a timeline. It will drive you crazy.

I'm pre-op and expect to have surgery in Septemberish if all goes well and insurance approves me. I'm currently logging my food meticulously and trying to understand my specific food triggers.
By logging my food and emotional states, I'm learning that I crave "bad foods" when I'm emotional stressed by any major family drama (I don't have much family drama, thank God) or when I'm rushed and overwhelmed by the busyness of life.
I know that giving into those weak moments are what got me to Obese Land to begin with so, I'm attempting to make changes pre-op so the chance of post-op speed bumps lessen a little (hopefully a lot) .
What tools do you all use to prepare yourself for the weak moments?
What do you do during your weak moments to stop yourself from falling down that slippery slope?

Well BP FAM , I'm back again with a rant. My husband and I were talking last night and he made comments in how he wished I never had this surgery. He stated that my butt has gone almost away and he felt all unneeded to do was tone up and lose my belly initially. Well, first of all, I don't know how you tone up 242 lbs with BMI 0f 39( which was my initial weight and BMI). So.... he proceeded to run his mouth about all the things I can't do like drink gallons of sweet tea, eat cake and Cookies, go to restaurants and eat appetizer , entree and dessert.. You know all of the healthy stuff that led me to be 242 lbs in the first place. Well, I was really hurt by his comments. My rebuttal was how much healthier I am , I am a lose size 10 as opposed to a tight size 16, I am no longer out of breath with walking 20 feet and I am able to exercise. I like how my body has changed and I told him I love my size. Well, he said "you don't have to be attracted to you, I do and you only needed to lose a little belly but now your butt has gone down tremendously " well needless to say I was pushed to my breaking point. I was like if you don't like what you see, go and find you a thick chic with a donkey's ass. I'm not even at goal yet so I'm gonna lose more and just ticked that he would say that to me which made me feel a lil insecure about my looks. Then I snapped out of it. I have posted pics on my other forums but I will put my last one here as well. Not tooting my own horn but I worked hard for these results . I had surgery in Dec 2016. I am just like dang I can't win for losing .i really thought I was doing good . My pics show one week after surgery on left, middle is 1 1/2 months post op and last pic on right was about 2 weeks ago.

Nexplanon implant for me, all woman of CB age must be on birth control before surgery for the obvious reason - it can be dangerous to fall pregnant within 18 months of having surgery.

No issues with mine now and no periods either.

The pharmacist that saw me in the hospital post surgery didn't encourage pills. She said they wouldn't be able to cycle in the stomach as long as it needs to so it wouldn't be as affective. I feel like that makes sense but im probably just going to look up different iuds. Thanks for your input. It made me feel a bit better.

I have not taken birth control since 2010. Prior I was always on the pill and it managed my periods perfectly. Between 2010 and 2015 I had 4 pregnancies, two ending in miscarriage and 2 full term and decided after struggling with infertility, multiple pregnancy loss and a scary pregnancy with my daughter to tie my tubes which was done in July of 2015.
That being said since surgery my cycle has spiraled out of control, I will be going on Mirena with my next cycle as my OBGYN thinks it will manage my periods. I really hope this does because two weeks of heavy bleeding each month is not how I want to live.

I can not wait to give my daughter a sibling infertility was a driving factor in my decision to get WLS. My fertility was affected by the obesity and I was almost prediabetic.

Before surgery I was on the Nuvaring. I was sleeved on 3/30. I just switched and got the Mirena on 4/21. Mostly because I know that with rapid weight loss, I'll become more fertile and I wanted to ensure that I won't get pregnant anytime soon. I'm good to go for the next 6 years! Also, lists of times with the Mirena, cycles lessen or stop completely. Looking forward to that!

That's awesome! I am on the pill because I do plan on getting pregnant in a year or so. I hate taking pills but I do it lol.

I switched to nexoplan implant a few months ago. Looking to have surgery in May or June. I did that for these reasons. 1: nexoplan does not have estrogen so it is a lower stroke risk from higher BMI people. 2: I know I don't want to get pregnant for the weightloss period of 1-2 years. 3: I don't have to remember anything daily or monthly 4:it lasts a maximum of 3 years and it is removable when ever I choose.

Added benefit for me: I have not had a period since it was put in, though I heard it can take a little bit for your body to get used to it. It depends on the person.
