TX2017Sleever got a reaction from wareaglex5 in Low BMI sleevers... results?
Hi Wareaglex5, we may be similar in BMI and why we are getting the sleeve done. My consult was done over the phone. I am cash pay, traveling about 6 1/2 hours to Louisiana to have my surgery with Dr. Borland. There are a lot or pre op test that I have to get done where I live and then have the results faxed to his office within 30 days of my surgery, which is scheduled for April 11th. I am very nervous and excited. Like so many others on the board, I have struggled with the yo-yo.
A deciding factor for me, was to hear my 70 year old mother constantly talk about her weight and how much she would like to have the WLS. I am almost 40 and do not want to wait any longer. I would like to permanently lose 55 pounds.

Over 10 pounds!! I am so excited for you, I really am! I can not wait to see you at 20. I took notes on everything you suggested. I haven't been able to find the Gas X strips so I will look at CVS and Walgreens until I do. What Vitamins did you purchase and when does he say to start them. I have spoke to the staff of Dr. B over the phone a lot and look forward to meeting him and them on Monday.

I was sleeved 12/16 in Mexico with BMI of 32. Gained/lost hundreds of pounds all my life and hope this tool will help me finally stay at my goal weight when I get there! Had a very easy recovery from day one (not to say I haven't thrown up several times in process). I've lost 40 lbs since sleeve date (plus 8 lbs preop diet). Goal is 10-15 more pounds but slowing down now. Easter was the irate time I did have a slice of cake and felt so guilty. My husband is only one that knows I had the surgery so it's hard when eat with friends because eat very little and can't drink at the same time. Here is my day of surgery pic and my current pic.

Well, I'm 6 day post op and I only thought I knew what hunger was. I feel like I am starving myself and it is miserable. The pain from the surgery is almost non existent so that is a positive. The day after surgery was brutal from the pain and I could not tolerate the liquid pain medicine so it was really bad. Again, fortunately the pin went away. Just left with some huge bruises and cuts on my tummy. I can drink Water and my Protein Shakes and any Clear Liquids, but they do not take the edge off at all from the hunger. I had only read that people did not want food after the surgery, but that is all I can think of. I am irritable around my family because I feel the exact same as before the surgery except that I am starving.
I have my 1 week check in with the doctor tomorrow so I will bring this to his attention and hope to hear what I can do to control my uncontrollable appetite.
    Does the hunger go away??

Hi Erica, how long has it been since your surgery? I know people will judge me for doing this, but no one knows the struggle I have been through. I sure hope you get to where your goal is.

    Hi MelissaH74,
How are you feeling? It has only been a few days since your surgery and I see your weight tracker is down a few pounds. Way to go!! I have 4 days until my surgery with Dr. Borland. Do you have any tips for me? Anything that I should ask about that maybe I would not have thought of? What kind of broth do you drank after? I am so excited to hear from you!

Actually I'm feeling wonderful. and yes I just updated my weight its now 10.5lbs has me freaking out lol. First off make sure you have Gas-x stripes with you!!! They are an absolute must have the minute you come out of surgery. My hubby had to go back to the hotel to get it. If you don't have any or can't find any I suggest you leaving earlier than planned and stopping at every Walgreens and Cvs till you find it. Its truly a life saver!! I only brought sf Jello with me which was a great choice just for the flavor, and went buy some sf popsicles which turned out to be very, very nasty sweet. I purchased several cases of Core Water from Sam's Club prior to surgery and took only one bottle with me, but wish I'd have taken 2. The beef broth is also amazing but didn't have any while there. Dr Borland allowed me to have chicken Noodle Soup strained and watered down so maybe take a can of that. I will add more as I think of things. Oh get some Sonic ice the night before also.

I gained 8 lbs before my surgery because I knew I would not be able to eat certain things so I splurged prior to the surgery date.

I am finally getting around to posting my progress/final goal pics! I had a hard time finding a photo of me at my heaviest, but I dug one up from last August. Starting weight=190, Current weight=136, Height= 5ft 8.5 inches. Loving my sleeve! One of the best decisions of my life.

I was BMI of 29 when I got my surgery in Mexico. I am a year and 4 months out, and it has been the biggest blessing. I am actually almost underweight now (I am 5'8.5" and average 125 lbs). I am extremely active. I just couldn't seem to lose those 50 lbs that were keeping me down physically and mentally. I was lucky and rarely stalled, probably because I was active very soon after surgery. Anyway, most people don't know I got it, because I know they would judge me harshly. I don't regret it for a second! Good luck to all of you with upcoming surgeries!

TX2017Sleever reacted to cisnerica in Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?
I'm getting sleeved April 11th in Tijuana, Mexico. When I scheduled my surgery 10 days ago, I weighed 185 (BMI 32.8). The nutritionist told me she wanted me down to 176 on surgery day. This morning I weighed in at 180, so hopefully I'll get there. I'm 5'3" so 185lbs on my frame is a lot. I also have PCOS, pre-diabetes, and high(er) cholesterol (though I've worked hard to bring those numbers down). My body and frame takes after my father's side of the family where the women were all obese. I know what my destiny is, so at 41 I wanted to do something about it. Plus, I also have a 2 year old, and I want to be healthy and have stamina to keep up with her and all the needs an active childhood consists of!

Yes I only live 2hrs away so not as bad. Call the Candlewood it's $89 a night make sure you you tell them about your ships you get the discount and they also have a recliner, which they say is more comfortable to sleep in.

I can't believe how quickly the time has come to bring us to the brink of our surgeries in April. With that being said, what crucial things have you guys already bought in preparation for the big event?
I bought my sippy 360 cup, which I heard helps with those first couple of weeks with drinking Water. I don't want to accidentally drink out of a glass too fast and feel the pain. I still need to buy my Gas-X strips for the hospital, to help with getting the gas/air out. I bought my calcium citrate with Vitamin D chewables--which were ridiculously expensive as Vitamins go. I've already been taking my B Complex-50 tablet and Centrum women's multi Vitamin gummies.
Other than that, I have nothing. I'm still a month away, but I was curious the 'must haves' you all have thought to get in preparation for your surgery.

I was a 30 BMI. I lost a lb a day for the first 22 days then stalled a bit then lost 1-2lbs a week for the last 6 weeks. I'm praying it continues I'm 25lbs down so about halfway
