  1. The bypass seems more reliable and has more long term data as the sleeve is still fairly new with regards to data and outcomes.
  2. I'm 7 days out and down 5lbs, which seems ok to me.
  3. Hey everyone I just wanted to share that I had the gastric bypass one week ago today and so far so good! I think the preop diet really helped me to prepare for this. The surgery went very well and I didn't need much pain meds in the hospital. I made myself get up and walk and was released the next morning. I had bloating and gas as expected but not too bad. I really want to thank the Methodist Hospital Bariatric Program (Sacramento, CA) and my surgeon Ruby Gatschet for such a smooth process. I referred to my postop eating booklet once I got home and have lost 4lbs so far. I am looking forward to progressing in the booklet and changing my life to better my health.
  4. Hope everything went well!! Waiting for the details!!

    What would you do differently?

I am in the RNY preop phase but I'm trying to find good tips on this site. Has anyone tried the Optimum Nutrition protein water? It has 20g of protein for 16oz. My friend is a nurse who is on a diet program and likes this water.
  6. I went back and forth on which surgery to do but ultimately made up my mind to do the bypass because, for ME, there is more long term data with the bypass whereas the sleeve is fairly new with regards to data. That meant a lot to me.
  7. I'm so glad you folks are here in this group.
  8. you're so lucky! Yes I'm on the liver shrinking diet but only 4 shakes a day, veggies, and clear broth, SF Jello.

    OMG! It's here

Congratulations! I'm on 2/21 and currently wanting meat on the preop diet but sticking to it.
  10. I am so happy to hear this. I am on day 7 of my 2 week preop diet and now I'm starting to question why I can't have meat. i think I'm craving it.
