    260lbs / 226.4lbs

From the album: 1 Month Post-Op Pictures

    This is a picture from pre-op (3.12.2017) to my 5 week post-op (4/30/2017).
  3. 4/27 - Went to see my PCP. I weighed in at the same weight lol. She said it was actually okay due to me having ate and drank during the day.  My blood pressure is normal and my sleeve is doing amazing. Today I cooked the following:

    1) Cauliflower cheese sticks (reduced fat cheese) - I did not like it. I will not be making that again:(.

    2) Steamed shrimp with zucchini noodles, with (1 TSP of Alfredo sauce from whole foods). The zucchini noodles were not good :(. I keep my food separated when I eat which is awesome.  I ate my 6 of shrimps and lightly dip it in the Alfredo sauce.  That was delicious.

On Saturday, I am thinking steaming me a tilapia. I went to trader joe's and purchased a wild tilapia. It is costed some money but it will be worth it (I hope). The only fish I have ever eaten that was not packaged is fried fish.

@HeatherS. thanks for the food tip. I was really looking confused. I was on Pinterest watching cooking videos on how to actually cooked fish. I am a chicken kind of gal so when they wanted me to introduce fish I looked like deer in headlights watching the videos lol.

@Newme17 I used one of the Pinterest recipes from BUZZFEED lol. It actually was delicious.

I love searching for recipes on Pinterest. In fact, other than recipes, my whole house is a Pinterest house. 😂. My friends dubbed it that when they come over and see something new.

  4. 4/26 - I had four slices of turkey and 1 slice of povolone from Subway today. I had grilled chicken and broccoli for lunch. I am kinda getting tired of grilled chicken. I would like to try fish however I am getting nervous about it. I have off tomorrow so what I am going to do is, see my PCP (Long pass due lol). Then head to the supermarket and get some fish. Idk how to cook fish and that scares me lol. If not, I can always buy grilled fish from my local fish market as well.

My Bf called me today. We have not talked to each other in 2 days (This normal. Between our Full Time Jobs and Full Time schooling 2 days is normal lol). He proceeded to tell me that he was down and really depressed in regards to the amount of stress he is under. So I just sent him these cute pictures while we were facing time and his face lite up. He started laughing. He laughed and said, "Your my best friend you know that right?" The sincerity in his voice melted my heart. Go BF for making my day better.

many taste changes here. eggs, condiments, like ketchup, mustard etc i just dont care about anymore. but most all meats i love. tuna ok. veggies ok. things change some, but its worth it. walked by a nice looking dealer at a casino. she almost broke her neck to see the guy with the cowboy hat at perfect weight pass. turned her around with a smile. man it felt good, its worth it to look right and be healthy.

    3. Sleeve1stFitNext

      Sleeve1stFitNext

Yeah my NUT said to try ketchup and mustard. I do not like the taste anymore. I actually just make my own condiments (1/3 tsp of vinegar and 1/3 tsp of light mayo). Condiments that totaled 11 calories. I was sooo excited!!

  5. 4/23 - Had a lazy day. I will admit, I did not eat enough (was not hungry). I just had a lazy Sunday, nothing out of the ordinary. Played video games all day. Just normal couch potato things. I also purchased a Hidrate Spark 2.0. Shout out to @Newme17 for posting about it.

4/24 - Got my Portion8 container and I was sooo hype. I will have to cook on Thursday and meal prep accordingly. Drank a lot of water. I had chicken and green beans. I wanted to try something new with my chicken (I added salsa and taco seasoning with low sodium) Made myself a naked burrito.

4/25 - Today is my little brothers b-day. He turned 17 years old today. We took him to Hooters. I got tempted and ended up eating a piece of bread from the chicken sandwich. It was delicious but I was bloated.

Lol. No one policed me. I was like hmmm I wonder and then I just took a bite. It was delicious!!! Best bread ever. However, I know tomorrow I will have to make it up and eat extra healthy. I do not want to start going back to bad habits so I need to get back on track. I love my Portion8 container. It is awesome.

    Boobies...ugh

Honestly, my breast are starting to look like jacket sleeve boobies. They just look sad. The fullness is going away. I need that to happen in my tummy.
  7. Holy ****!!! Excuse my language. I put my big toe to my nose lol. My mom was stretching and asked me to join, I literally was joking around. I put my big toe to my nose. I am soo hype.

    Boobies...ugh

I do not think that ya'll should be upset. 29lbs down and my boobies have gotten smaller. I am panicking. I am used to these D's. I cannot take going to a C or B. lol I want to keep my boobies.
  9. 4/22 - I almost forgot about food today lol

I made an entire meal prep for 4 meals. I had ground chicken and beans mashed. Reduce fat WW cheese melted in.  Each meal was 160 calories a piece. I had an Atkins Protein Water drink:

    Atkins Protein Water: 20g Protein / 90 Calories / 1 Carb / 0g Sugar

    Ground Chicken (1 oz Each): 22g of Protein / 170 Calories / 0 Carb / 0g Sugar

    Black Beans (1 oz Each):  7g of Protein / 100 Calories / 19 Carbs / 0g Sugar

    Weight Watchers Cheese (1/2 oz Each):  5.3g of Protein / 60 Calories / 0 Carbs / 5.3g Sugar

    Atkins Protein Water: 20g Protein / 90 Calories / 1 Carb / 0g Sugar

    Total:

    Protein: 74.3g

    Calories: 510

    Carbs: 19 Carbs

    Sugar: 5.3g

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

    Dealing with an unsupportive husband...help!

My BF was supportive and then 2 days before surgery, he started a fight. I did not speak to him Friday and Saturday. My surgery was scheduled on Sunday. My mom was out of town on business and was coming back Sunday morning. The Hospital sent a car to home, a formality to ensure that you are on time for surgery lol. He was there when I got there. He apologized and we spent time talking while I waited for my turn. He was just scared and did not want to talk me out of it so he let those feelings bottle up. In your case, your Husband is vocal about how he feels. I understand that you want him there more so to understand the process and for him to trust your decision. It just sucks that you have to strong arm him into doing what he knows he should be doing.

    Pre cooked grilled chicken

I am sure that this will seem bad. However, I have gone to Applebees and bought two grilled chickens and then shred them and meal prepped for this past week. I had enough with beans and broccoli that I was able to get 3 days worth or meals out of it.
  13. 4/22 - Just in 1 month, the following has changed:

    1) I get a FULL Nights SLEEP !!! (Omg, I have not had a full nights sleep since before college in 2009).

    2) I can walk further and my ankle not hurt or I need to sit down (today I took 17,248 steps). Amazing and YESSSSSSS!!!!

    3) I have really started eating my food cold. When I get hungry, I like to make sure that I am, so I will wait an additional 10 - 15 minutes. I just want to make sure it is not head hunger. However, I when realize that I am and I sometimes do not even bother heating up my food lol.

    4) I finally broke down and purchased one of the Portion8 containers at the BariatricPal Store. They have some really interesting things there.

    5) My younger brother (I have two brothers on my moms side whom are younger than me.) We were shopping for "Baby's" (he is the one that steals food lol) 17th B-day and my brother High Five'd me and said, "We are going to have to find a new nickname because FINALLY, "Bigums" will no longer fit you lol".

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

It's amazing what our bodies can accomplish with 10,20,30, etc pounds off. I'm glad for you especially for the sleep.

I bought a portion 8 container. It's somewhere around here (renovation in progress). Should be helpful because I don't care to weigh or measure. Just dump food in and that's what you get. Lol

im glad you'll be getting a new nickname! Should be interesting. You and your family seem to have a lot of fun. 😁

I was so amazed by the changes. My surgeon had suggested keeping a diary in which I would write little things here and there. As a I reviewed it, I was amazed at the changes.

Yeah, my little nuclear unit is pretty weird. We have stories for days. My mom is very big on us doing things. We have a pool, deck, painted the house, front gate and laid down paving stones for the drive way.

    3. Newme17

      Newme17

Nuclear unit! Haha! So cute. 😂

  14. 4/21 - When to the NUT today. She was soo proud of my progress. I told her I was concerned that I my loss was slowing down and she assured me that it would be normal. She said, "Slow and steady wins the race. She said my weight looked amazing and that I should be proud of even 4lbs because of how much 1lb of fat means to a healthier body. She gave me the go ahead to start adding in new foods with limitations:

    Stay away from red meat

    Stay away from pasta

    Stay away from rice

Stay away from from all kinds of ice cream and sugar free junk alternatives.

And the usual suspects (No cakes, cookies, ice cream and soda (any carbonated/sparkling drink)

She gave me the go ahead to start lightly at the gym. No more than a 30 minute light weight workout (walking on the treadmill and biking). She said no weight lifting just yet, or swimming :(, I will have to wait until my 6 week followup with my surgeon to see if it is okay.

    Since Pre-Op Diet (3/12/2017): 29lbs

    Since Surgery (3/26/2017): 15lbs

Although 15lbs does not seem like a lot, it is when you break it down in weeks. That is 3.75lbs a week. That is more than I ever did without this tool. I am soo happy it's working.

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

3.75 lbs is a lot. That's great! I'm proud of you too. 👍

How do you organize your vitamins?

Sorry about that. I had posted that on my status update the other day for someone whom had just had surgery. I forgot to edit out the parts pertaining to her.
  16. Sleeve1stFitNext

How do you organize your vitamins?

My two 2 week post-op appt was when I was advised to start taking my vitamins. I take the following: calcuim vitamin D iron (ensure that you are taking iron and calcium at least 2 hours apart. I choose to take them 3 hours apart to be safe) biotin (I need my curls to stay glamorous) multivitamin for women b12 Due to me having issues with remembering to take my vitamins. I downloaded this free app called Round to help me keep track. Congrats on your surgery. Now is way too soon to be taking chewy vitamins. Have you already scheduled your 2 week follow up?
  17. 4/20 - So my little punk brother ate my meal prep and even took two containers to school. I woke up this morning to an empty fridge lol. Last night, I have three small containers of chicken and broccoli and two small containers of beans. His reasoning? He is doing it to make me cook tonight lol. I said what? He said, "It is Taco Casserole Thursdays and this is tradition and you have failed to make it for almost 2 months. I cannot allow these atrocities against my stomach to go unpunished." He told me that this is food warfare and hung up lol.

I called my mom and told her and she started laughing. She said this is what I get for the whole Popeyes incident. She told me to just make the Casserole since I am off today and she wont be home until late. So I told her, I will make the Casserole. However, their is something that little punk does not like to eat and that is sour cream. I will make the Casserole and put sour cream in it. I will get the last laugh.

I ended up boiling two large eggs and just eating the egg whites with a little salt sprinkled on top. I am defrosting a turkey burger for lunch. I now have to go to Whole Foods and get the ingredients for the Casserole:

    Turkey Ground Beef

    Reduced Fat Cheese

    Salsa

Brown Rice (rice substitute if I can find one)

    Bean paste

    Tortilla chips

Sour Cream (Lots and Lots of Sour Cream B))

  19. So let's talk something personal. I have been literally shunned by two women that I thought were friends.

A friend from college (I barely speak with. We were cool but not really close) called me after one of my best friends told her about my surgery and how I inspired her to make a change in her life. Lets call her "M". Now "M" looks like me.

"M" called me while I was heading home. She began asking me about the surgery and how was my recovery. She then started talking about how I would eat nothing but junk in college and I would stuff my face and she could never imagine me giving up milkshakes. Ooookkkayyy whatever. She then starts listing foods and I would say, "No I cannot eat that. Yes, I can eat that. I will have to modify the recipe for a healthier version but I can eat it." She then asked how much had I lost so far. I told her 25lbs but I weigh in Friday so hopefully I lost more. At that point, she goes off on me, "What you think that I am supposed to change my eating habits to make you feel better. I am not getting the surgery because it is the easy way out. I refused to put myself through that." Again, oooookkkkayyy. She precedes to tell me how I have changed and I am stuck up wanna-be-healthy B-word and how I will be loose and saggy. At that point I told her jealousy does not suite you and hung upB)

Another friend has gained weight over the years since having her daughter. Her husband has never had an issue with her weight until lately. She is now about to weigh 300lbs. For their daughters B-day this month, they took her to Disneyland. My friend was unable to keep up with her Husband and daughter, she was even told that she could not get a ride because of her size. Her Husband sat her down and had a heart to heart and express that it was time for her to start getting healthy. He said her not being able to get on a ride with their child hurt him as much as it hurt her. Now her Husband is big on fitness and when they met, they were both in great shape. He has kept his shape but he also understands that carrying a human being is not easy, which is why he does not care if she ever gets her pre-baby body back. He just wants her healthy and able ride the rides with their child. I expressed that I agreed with him citing when we went to Six Flags and the strap barely fit last year and how I nervous that the guy was going to tell me to get off. She then got upset and told me every since I have been losing weight, I have been trying to dictate people's lives. I asked her for an example and she could not give me one. She however kicked me out of her house and told me that if I continued to lose weight and act this way that I was no longer invited to her home:53_cold_sweat:

I had to call my boyfriend and ask him if I have changed? I called, all of my other friends and was like, hey have I changed? My boyfriend said that how I think about food has changed (he loves the whole kids meal thing). My other friends said, no I have not. They say that I am just way more health conscious and I view food differently but I do not make them feel uncomfortable when they eat junk in front of me.

I wanted to post this so that you guys knew what was going on in my personal life and how this surgery and weight loss is effecting my life in other ways.

    1. Newme17

      Newme17

Oh hon, sorry about all that. Your "friends" behaviors are a result of how they feel/are about themselves. It's not you at all. You just keep focusing on yourself.

      Ash44

man that sucks. it's all their problem. maybe someday they'll realize it. hope your good friend was just having a really bad day and she'll come around. maybe ask her to get a coffee with you? or go to something non-food related?? maybe she's afraid of losing you???

  20. 4/19 - Had a protein shot which was 15 grams of protein for breakfast. Had 1/2 grill chicken broken up into 4 small meals, with two pieces of steamed broccoli each. Premier Protein shake for dinner. Total 65g protein, 2g sugar, 9g of carbs, 6g of fat. I also have not stepped on a scale since my 2 week post op. I am starting to worry that I am either stalling or have gained weight. I am sure that I am just overreacting, however I weigh in Friday when I see my NUT. I am hoping that I have lost weight.

    1. MowryRocks

      MowryRocks

I'm totally with you on that. My relationships with women are better than ever since they know I am genuinely happy for them instead of letting their successes make me feel bad about myself.

i'm just a newbie....but i anticipate my friendships will be better.....my friends were always sad for me that i was so down on myself. not sure how the "fun things " and "not drinking as much or at all" will affect them - we'll see...

    3. Sleeve1stFitNext

      Sleeve1stFitNext

@Ash44 I hope that all your friends are extremely supportive. We deserve to have those people there whom saw us struggle and saw how hard we worked and needed this.

I thought the same thing. I figured because these people saw me struggling with loosing weight for years and how much I wanted so badly to get healthy, that they would be there throughout. I think that this only weeds out the "Friends" whom are really not on your team. Those are the best people to lose because the ones that are there no matter what are the ones that are the truest.

  21. I have kept the surgery a secret from my father and that side of my family. The reason is, when I went to talk to him about it, he flipped out and was very rude. I just decided to keep him out of the loop. My Granny (his mom) knows. She is my biggest supporter.

    Weighing Food

I sometimes will weigh my food. I do it more when I am cooking my own meals or having home made food. I find that outside food, I eat until I feel that first pressure (10 small bites). Then I am done.

    Taking the Stairs

Thats amazing, My job is on the second floor, however you have to walk up 4 flights before you make it to the second floor. I will walk up and down as well. I figured since I have to wait for approval for the gym, why not get the exercise in when you can.
