  1. I am thinking of having a sleeve revised into a full bypass. Has anyone had that done? And what we're the results?

  2. Does anyone eat popcorn...any good or bad experiences ?

Yes Popcorn is life for sure. I Love show popcorn. LOL It defintly is the hardest thing to give up. LOL I am with you all the way. We do what we have to do, to keep us sane. I was told by my Surgeon and his nurse beore I even had my RNY that there are no forbidden foods. We just have to use common sense and get the portion control i there. Now others wil say that they don't want to push it because eating those foods are what put them gaining weight and needing WLS. It defintly is a personal journey. Like I said we have to do what we have to be sucessful.

I love my popcorn. But u need to be careful because it is something that goes down easy. Then you will feel yukky and the gas hits hard. I still eat it once and awhile. Just can't help myself. lol

  5. 6/5  - Still doing my Keto Diet. It is working. I am very proud of sticking to it.

6/6 - Went to the surgeon for a 2 month followup. I weighed in at 213.4 lbs. He was very happy at my progress and the way I am healing. He said that amount of weight loss is amazing. I went to get my blood work done to make sure that my vitamins and nutritional intake is great.

6/7 - Had a Glazed Donut. It was the best Donut I have ever had. I THREW IT UP within 10 minutes. I needed to do it to myself. I was starting to slowly eat something I was not supposed to so I just gave in and now that I know I cannot have it. I feel better.

I have a few freinds that are doing the KETO DIET. They are doing great. Most of them have had WLS. My hubby tried his hardest to do Keto but the meal plan, was to prep the food form the part of the week. We were set up with recipes for that week. But he really didn't care for the food. I DON'T care for leftovers so I didn't even try it. But I think it is a great program for sure. I have heard and seen lots of peeps doing great on it. Good Luck

  6. What is ketosis and is it a good thing?

  7. I had gastric sleeve surgery in Mexico last July. I'm a bit disappointed that I've only lost 60lbs.

my one big big secret is I've done this all alone. Nobody knows, I mean nobody, not my husband, sister, anyone. You may be asking how did I do it. I told my family I could not come up to our cottage for a week. I booked the flight to Mexico and it all got done in a week. I can't tell my husband as he would divorce me. So this is the first time telling this story, hoping to get support from other sleepers.

  8. Going to see surgeon and NUT today for 2-week follow-up. I can't believe how quickly the time has passed. Feeling better every day, my pain is minimal at this point, so no more getting stuck on the couch! I'm meeting my protein and fluid goals too. The only thing that is still bad is my energy levels. I still can't go past the end of my block without feeling dizzy and having to turn back. Hope that advancing my diet will help give me more energy.

  9. So I did make a tasty creation this week.

    Ingredients:

1 can of cooked chicken (drained)

    1/2 onion

    2 cloves garlic

    1 can Rotel

1 can of black beans (drained)

    grated cheese (dealers choice)

cook the onion and garlic.  Deglaze the pan with a little cooking wine, add in the chicken, Rotel, Black Beans, simmer and reduce the sauce until nearly gone.  Makes (way to many servings)  ladle out, sprinkle with a little grated cheese and enjoy...    Yum.

  10. Hey all you Bariatric Beauties out there...just a little "food fact" for you. I have found (someone else may have done so before me) a product of "flaked light tuna" different brands Clover Leaf for one, in little 85 g cans pop lid, and only 90 cals (if you're counting) in assorted flavours (Canadian spelling ) eg. lemon pepper, lemon dill, spicy thai, teriyaki. I take them with me on walks and as well a sm container of sugar free apple sauce and I'm good to go. Hope this isn't old news...I'm a newbie:unsure:

Hi I say whatever it takes to get us to our final goal. That is a great idea. I have used the tuna in the pouch a few times. Then I would buy the package that was made up with a lite mayo and 4 crackers. Another one that would be great to take on your walks are called PB3's I think I just got a mind leak. LOl They have ham or chicken nuts cheese all together they are really good. Even if you post something that yourunsure of it is always good toget reminders about stuff. Good luck on your journey!!

  12. Ughh - hair loss is very real. My hairline is noticeably thinner. I've been losing hair constantly for the past 3 weeks (exactly 3 months post-up). Today was the first day I dyed my hair since the hair loss started and everytime I went to squeeze water out of my hair, more hair kept sliding out. I know it's temporary but it's still scary!

This is very sad for us women!! Think about it, men can lose their hair or shave it off and be fine!! Noone will say anything about it. Then cme us Women!! We are such a worry wart that it is devastating to us!! It WILL grow back mine did. The thing about me was I come from a bunch of women that lost their hair so I was very very thin myself. Before my RRNY I kept a perm in my hair so it looked thicker. When I was young I had tons of hair I mean tons When I put it up with a thickest rubber hair band I could only wrap the rubber band 2 times. After my WLS I haven't put a perm in it. But did color it and started wearing it short. Good things are a comin it will grow back in. Go to your Hair stylist if youm havre one and talk to them. Another thing get your amount of protein in, I started only washing it ever other day. Plus I use a shampoo that helps with hair loss. I also take HAIR SKIN AND NAILS. I took them everyday up until last month when my B12 came back to high. Now I take it 2 times a week. Also Seleinum. Hang in there

  13. I don't know if this is ...hate to say "normal" but I just don't have an appetite at all. Hard to eat and force myself just cause I know I have to. Just for reference sake...down 48 lbs since surgery May 1st. (4 wks).

  14. Day before my surgery and I am pretty nervous! I feel like I have a list a  mile long including baking two coconut cream pies for my son's class tomorrow.  In a way this will be a good break from Mom duties.

  15. :)I AM SO EXCITED ONLY 3 POUNDS TILL I AM IN THE 180s!!!

  16. Tried Fairlife chocolate milk today. A bit too sweet for my taste but it had 19g of protein. I think I'd milk it down though (pun intended)(add plain almond milk) for less sweetness.

I tried Fairlife when it first started hitting our stores here. I found it to sweet just normal milk. I would guess that the chocolate would be to sweet also. Another Lactose free milk I have tried and can use, is Safeways Lactose Free milk. All of the others seem to sweet for me. Maybe I willl try the chocolate and add sme regular milk t it. :):)

  17. I'm new to this site. I live in Portland Oregon and I'm looking at getting the gastric sleeve surgery. I have a feeling my PCP will not want me to do this based on other weight loss convo's we've had. She feels I need to work harder at losing weight. I work a desk job 10 hours a day, ALL my blood tests look great (except for my Vit D levels are too low). My tests (including cholesterol, blood sugar/glucose, thyroid, etc) all looked great because I eat healthy, I workout regularly but CANNOT drop weight (5'8" & 300lbs) I don't have high BP or diabetes but I have back issues and sleep apnea. Every year that goes by I'm steady gaining 10-15 pounds no matter what I do. And that's when I'm watching what I'm eating! I have tried every program, diet, pill, etc. I have dual coverage, Providence Health Plan and BCBS. Does anyone know if you HAVE to get a referral from your primary or are there other ways of getting this done? Also I need a surgeon who will do the surgery without making me sign a consent for a blood transfusion. Anyone with dual coverage that can tell me what their out of pocket expense was? Thank you!

      Hi,

I noticed that you are from Poirtland, Oregon. I am from Roseburg, Oregon. Which Dr are you going too? I had my RNY done in Coos Bay, Oregon. I kind of fired my Surgeon. Then I started going to OHSU. They took me in right away. I had to have a ENDOSCOPE with a Dialation. Not my 1st but my 5th. I was told that most DR.'s won't take a patient to fix another DR's mess up. I so appreciate them. When are you scheduled to have your WLS? I would love to follow yur journey if you don't mind. If you want to email me that would be great. I can give you my email address if you want it. Again, I just get so excited when I see someone local. Well, kind of local. Good Luck

  18. Do you really have hair loss after surgery and if so, how long after surgery did you notice hair loss?  Any awesome Biotin supplements you recommend?  I have extremely long hair and that's my pride and joy, I'm  3 weeks post op and really need to start taking something ASAP!

  19. I just need to know when the tiredness will go away!!! I still need a nap almost every day, I was told this was normal for up to 8 weeks after. I'm currently 9 weeks out and wondering where my energy is!! On the bright side I have lost 64 lbs since I started right at 3 months ago!! But one would think with that much weight gone I would be up running around!! Please share your thoughts and experiences!!!

  22. 4/6 - Well this was a bad day. I thought hey why not try something. My mom made spaghetti and meat sauce. So I took a small amount of meat sauce and pureed it. It was DELICIOUS. 5 minutes later, I was nauseous, light headed and hot with the chills. I ended up puking the meat sauce. I put it on my not ready to eat list lol. Was unable to stomach any thing other than water for the remainder of the day.

4/7 - So the food I made for work, actually was turned into 6 meals because I could not eat more than 10 small bites. Had 10 bites of the egg whites and cheese for breakfast. Had 10 bikes of the tuna and cheese. I am going to finish the day off with a Premier Caramel Protein Shake for dinner. This will help me to get my protein up. I have been drinking zero calorie sugar free Vitamin Water (this is helping me with the B12 and electrolytes).
