BgR72 got a reaction from tjetson247 in A lot of distractions going on around me
There have been many distractions lately popping up. I feel like I am being tested. My surgery is next week and for the past few days there has been distractions that I wish not to be around. My pre op diet is going well I am down 21 pounds so I feel solid with that but this extra stuff right before surgery I wished it could have missed me. I know God has a plan for me & I know he wants me healthy. I know he wont give us more than we can handle. I got to stay strong & lean on him. Also, you know how you feel regret about a situation when you may have not been your best.Well I got some of that going on too. Again out of the blue distractions. Thats how they come. So, I guess I am very sensitive about going through it now being that my surgery is right around the corner and I rather just have that on my mind only... So, I will just continue reading Gods word & allow his word to build me up & my strength... Thanks for reading

BgR72 reacted to JohnnyCakes in Sleeve vs RNY
always my thinking too. the sleeve is much more drastic because of the finality of it.
and despite some saying RNY is irreversible, that is not true. my surgeon (director of medical group at bariatric center of excellence, has done over 3,000 bariatric surgeries) said he could easily reverse an RNY. of course, he then added that he's never been asked to, but the option is there! not so with sleeve.

BgR72 reacted to Little Green in Sleeve vs RNY
I don't think anyone needs to get defensive over their decision. I just think there are pros to RNY that I rarely see discussed on this site because a vast majority are sleeve patients who were fearful of the RNY or felt it was too extreme or invasive. If they felt that way, it's fine, but the truth is it's a very safe surgery that's performed without complications every single day and it's a great option for a lot of bariatric patients.
Not trying to flame any drama, but someone posted a thread the other day saying their doctor recommended WLS and they had no idea where to start, so they wanted information. Within just a few posts that person was saying that it sounded like "the sleeve is the better option" and she was going to go with that one. I don't mind if she gets VSG - heck, like I said, if I woke up with a VSG instead of RNY I'd be pleased as punch. But I would hate for someone to make a decision about surgery without evaluating all of the evidence simply because of fear.

Joy cometh in the morning! Try to put your "blockers" on until next week. This will be life changing. You have come this far, so it's inevitable that you will continue to reach your goal. I have mine next week also. Tuesday. What day is yours?

Just came across this article. Very informative. Just to educate us on our new lifestyle. I actually saved this article on my home screen so I can refer to it.

BgR72 reacted to sunmeadow in What was the biggest surprise for you at or after surgery? What do you wish you had known?
Wow! Good for you! I pretty much did that when I turned 40, but I am hoping that being more "normal" will help me feel more confident and enabled to do and go for the things I want, like look for a new job without being embarrassed about my appearance or feeling "less than" because of it.

BgR72 reacted to MSinger in What was the biggest surprise for you at or after surgery? What do you wish you had known?
The biggest thing that surprises me post surgery is my change in personality. I am more aware of how toxic some people in my life are and I am no longer tolerating or enabling their behavior. It was like a night and day switch. I don't know if it's a physical/hormonal change, or an emotional change, but right now I feel like I am fighting for me and have no patience for the poor behavior of others around me.

I have been listening to Dr. Matthew Weiner on YouTube. He has some very good videos. In one of his videos he talks about long term successful WLS patients and he makes some very good points. He said that if we rely on Portion Control without changing the types of foods we eat or our relationship with food, we will start to regain weight after 1 year.
He said WLS patients should not be eating fast food. I think he even said people who think they can eat the same way they used to, but just less, are mistaken.
I just thought I would share this because I think it may be helpful if you watch some of his videos. I know they have helped me.

Haven't been on in a while but I am doing well! I hot my first goal this morning and I am finally under 300lbs. I am so happy I made the decision to do the surgery. It is hard work and the struggle is real at times but it is sloop worth it!
How are you?

BgR72 reacted to Sleeve1stFitNext in 3 weeks to the day, and feeling HUGE REGRETS!
This is normal. You have buyers remorse. You regret the decision you made because you do not feel the instant gratification you thought you would feel. The first few weeks are the hardest. Nothing comes easy and this is the hardest part of the journey you will have.
I made a YouTube video in which I talked about the depression that I was feeling.
Honestly, it gets better. A lot better. It just takes time. Your feeling towards food is due to your fear that it will make you sick or that you think eating will make you gain weight. I felt both those emotions. Just know you need to eat, it is essential. Do not fear food. You will only be trading in one extreme for another. The goal is to gain a healthy relationship with food.
I used to live to eat. Now I eat to live. I look at food as what nutrition can I get from it. I make all kinds of recipes of my favorite foods, just low carb and calorie options.
It does get better. It just takes time.
