I was sleeved on July 10. Here's my update 6 days out: my program had me on liquids until post-op day three. Now I'm in the midst of purees. I can eat a couple level tablespoons of purees, tops. I've been eating two meals of Protein purees, such as chicken puréed with Bone Broth, and replacing one meal a day with a Protein Shake to help me get in fluids and protein. I've been able to get in around 40-45 grams of protein a day in these last couple days and around 40 ounces of Water. I'm hoping I'll be up to at least 60 grams of protein and 64 ounces of water a day by next week some time. My pain is totally minimal at this point. I'm really feeling great and already so happy that I made the decision to go through with this. I have a little bit of an appetite but I'm totally satisfied with the tiny portions I've been eating. Good luck to all the July sleevers coming up and I can't wait to hear how everyone one else is doing post-op!

Hello MusicMom and welcome to this wonderful forum. I am from the East Bay, San Fransico area. I stumbled across this website the later part of March and l absolutely love it. I'm currently going through the process of having WLS. I meant with my surgeon on Tuesday and on June 20th I'm scheduled to meet with the psy for eval. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. This is definitely a HUGH lifestyle comittment. But I think I'm ready for the change. So hop on in and ask as many questions, browse through as many post, give suggestions and make comments.

Hello! I'm in the east bay. Been here my whole life. I recently had my Sleeve surgery just in March 2017 and I'm 4 months Post op. So far I've lost 50lbs.
I feel great and so happy I made the decision.

I'm happy to answer any questions.
Welcome to this awesome support system.

Hi there! Just joined the site about twenty minutes ago and excited! Hopefully I can connect with someone who lives in the San Jose area. I had my surgery on June 20th of this year in Palo Alto and feeling good (: Just completely sick of this liquid only diet!

Less than a day to go! YIP-E-I-O! Hospital called this morning and moved my surgery up from 11:30 to 10:00am, and need to be there by 8:00am to get the ball rolling with all the prep stuff. Did you get your surgery time? Pardon me with all the questions ^^, just want to get some bearings with whom I am talking. So yeah..., you can read my Bio (still haven't posted my story/background yet), but it'll come. In a nutshell - I am the heaviest person in my extended family on both sides. EVERYONE is tall and thin..., I am tall and large. I started putting on weight after my first child was born 20 years ago, and soon after the twins were born 16 years ago, it really started to show up. Went from a size 12/14 up to a 22 on one point. Had a personal trainer the gym..., did Weight Watchers..., did Advocare..., blah, blah, blah. AND THEN, my husband had an affair and moved out..., I lost 90 lbs in four months..., was in the hospital with gallbladder attack/removal in fifth month..., filed for divorce...., turned 40 years old a couple months later..., and then diagnosed with HYPOTHYROID DISEASE...,, and fast forward to a couple years ago when I get diagnosed with HASHIMOTO'S THYROIDITIS - the autoimmune cousin to Hypothyroid Disease. That's when the Eureka moment occurred ---- I will never get this weight off by strictly dieting and/or starving myself because my thyroid was all out of wack! So here we are..., the eve of "When Lauren Gets Her Groove Back"! And in 6 months I will get a Right Hip Replacement, due to Osteoarthritis..., and after it's all said and done, I will be ready to capture life again! Oh, and btw - I turn 50 this August and actually looking forward to it. 2nd Quarter really sucked and hoping for the 3rd Quarter Rebound!!!!

Well, good luck and stay in touch. Your Bio doesn't say much. What part of the country are you located? Are you funny about revealing too much online? I understand and get it. This is my first time ever on one of these types of "bloggy threads"..., not sure what you call it. Anyway, how much weight do you want to loose? Do you have children? All the nosey questions.... LOL!

I am just over 24 hours out. I felt like I was kicked by a horse. Pain and discomfort peaked at about 12 hours out and now I'm steadily improving. I can't wait to go home. My biggest complaint is my uncomfortable hospital bed.

Twelve hours post surgery. Not going to lie, I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Sore all over. But limited belly pain. Yes, still glad Ai made this decision.

Yes!!! I can't wait! I actually had a very stressful weekend due to car issues and I'm just waiting for the dealership to give me my quote and for the RN to call me to let me know when they want me to go to the hospital and the time of my actual surgery! So over it lol

Everything went really well! I'm so thankful that I got on here and reached out to meet some people that are on the same path as me...it honestly helped make the experience so much easier!

The valets were great, the staff at the hospital was wonderful and Dr. Illian for sure lived up to all of the wonderful things that I had read about him. I would recommend this route to anyone who was considering weight loss surgery.
The first evening after surgery was a little rough for me...I did throw up and it didn't feel very well. I rang my bell and the nurses were in immediately and helped me feel better. Other than that, things went pretty smoothly. Do lots of walking, even if it is just around your room.

I am now 5 days out and feeling pretty good. Energy levels are a lot better than I had anticipated. I was a little nervous about being super tired for quite some time, after reading other peoples experiences, but I may possibly feel pretty good because that's the norm for me (as I have an almost 2 year old little boy) Still on liquids and I'm not having any issues in getting my recommended ounces in. I just keep sipping away, rather than chugging. As long as I keep my drinks smaller than I used to, I seem to be able to take one then relatively shortly after have another. My incisions are a little tender, but that is really to be expected. I haven't had to take any pain medication since I left the hospital.

I will say that this whole experience is as much, if not even more, of a mental/emotional thing rather than physical. You have to be in the right mindset and emotionally ready for this.

My surgery date was 7/3 with Dr. Ariel Ortiz in Tijuana. So I am 6 days out and am going back to work tomorrow, working a desk job. Today I am able to drink more than just 1/2 cup of liquid an hour, I'm almost to a cup an hour. Swallowing is easier today. I missed the instruction to alternate each hour a cup of Clear Liquids and a cup of full liquids! Now that I'm doing that, I feel almost normal! Alternating Premier Protein shakes with Decaf iced tea and watered down apple juice. Weird, I've never liked ice in my drinks before and now I want it. Good luck to everyone still to come this July!

July 7th checking in. So far so good. I'm able to drink about2 ounces at a time but immediately I feel the urge to burp. I'm using the Premier Protein shakes. I have had an occasional sugar free popsicle. I've walked quite a bit today. Haven't taken anything for pain since 8 am. I know I need more liquids and haven't been able to stomach the idea of taking any Vitamins but I am feeling better. My family has commented that I seem very mellow. I think it's choosing to be cautious. BTW I am in Georgia and had my surgery with Dr Hart at Atlanta Bariatrics.
